I thought Jay had a pretty average to below average game. Im telling you people, Shanahan needs to nip that idiot gene in the bud right now before it spreads. We are dangerously teetering with that other guy not John Elway territory. More interceptions than touchdowns....idiot play after idiot play...
Good thing he is young and learning. I hope he gets this **** settled down, its starting to make me nervous. Thankfully we have played two subpar teams so we can still squeek out the victories but the fact remains, neither team should ever have been in either game.
Javon Walker, Brandon Marshall and Brandon Stokely are one serious trifecta. Im so glad we have them all on our team. Travis Henry seems to be hit or miss. 1, 2, 2, 1, 12. Thats like Clinton Portis not Terrell Davis.
Our defense needs to get their run defense shored up quickly. We have some monster running backs to face yet, and Lamont freakin Jordan rushed all over us today. Moreover, we are the first freakin team to give up a 100 yard rushing game to a Raider back in our division for like 6 years or something. That my friends, is a concern.
Overall though, I do like how this team despite their flaws and mistakes and miscues and idiocy, are finding ways to win. When we do put it together, and we will, we are going to be smashingly good AND they have the experience to pull out victory from the jaws of defeat when the chips are down already.
DJ is improving but Nate Webster had a helluva game IMO. ALl I did was see that dude blow plays up, particularly in the first half. Did seem a little quiet in the second half, but then so did our whole defense sans Champ Bailey and Dre Bly who did both good and bad. He made up for his booboo/
Torrent is in the process of compiling but it may not go up tonight. If its not done by 11:30 or so, I probably wont put it up until tomorrow afternoon when I get off work.

I thought Shannahans play calling in the second half was atrocious, but Alec the fan boy would rather blame cutler than shanny. How about Matt Lepsis SOFT GENE? getting bull rushed right back into cutler on that int for TD? SHut up already about cutler, the kid is making all kinds of throws, bottom line is if #16 (hippie) in there we would be 0 and 2...............

I thought Culter had an average game. Shanahan is still keeping the offence game plan simple with a few hot reads. Jay is getting it and we will be rolling into the endzone shortly. We are due for a breakkout game. Hey, why not next???

I figured you'd rip on Cutler especially after your boy Young lost. Cutler had some mistakes but was money in the clutch, spread the ball around and played well when it counted. He's incredibly accurate. I think I got used to Plummer's poor accuracy because it's so nice to see balls fly downfield and hit players in the hands.

Wrong game Alec, sorry bud but the one with the idiot gene today was your man crush Young. You won't see Cutler losing his cool and getting an unsportsmanlike. I agree he played average but the idiot plays were fewer than last week, a lot fewer.

Apparently VY forgot to will the Titans to victory, while JC willed Janikowski to miss in OT. Our guy is learning. :notworthy

How money was that T.O. call though bgary!! And Alec I agree on everything else you said I just think the idiot gene isn't as prevalent as you think. Now he absolutely needs to fix some bad habits but the dude has played 7 games now. He deserves some patience.

The pick6 was tipped at the LOS. He shares the blame with the O-Line. The other INT was all Cutler. I don't think he ever saw the defender, a LB I believe. He also missed some receivers for first downs when they were quite open because he was looking farther downfield. It just shows you that he isn't seeing the whole field right now. I'm hoping his vision will improve. The running offense and the run defense concerns me more.

I also forgot about Vince Youngs brilliant laterall to his O-Line man there at the end. Pure Genius right there!!!!!

Ummm, the last time I checked...at of 11:57pm EST...
THE BRONCOS ARE 2-0.
THAT IS THE ONLY STATISTIC THAT MATTERS.
This thread is comedy. Jay completed over 66% of his passes against one of the best DB/DL units in the league. He almost threw for another 300yd game.
Does he have some rough areas to work on? Yes. I feel like he is consistently about .5-1 second off of his primary to secondary read. When that happens, he will usually throw it behind or above his target rushing to get his pacing back down on that certain play. He also got bit on one of his INT's because he delayed just a second on a medium post route and the safety rolled over on it.
Now I do think Mike Shanahan is throwing off our normal play calling routine to get Cutler up to speed which is both going to hurt him in the short term, help him in the long term because of experience but he is going to make some mistakes, INT's, ect. Just be prepared for it.
We really can't complain though, he is now 4-3 as a starter, 11 td's, 8 INT's.
Not bad for being a 7 game starter.

12:23pm est and Denver is still 2-0.
Reasons to be excited if your a bronco fan?
We are 2-0 going into a very important stretch in which we will play Jacksonville, @Indy, SD and Pittsburgh. That stretch of games will go a long way in determining if we can make the playoffs this year. We have started off well.
Cutler is third in the league in passing yards behind Peyton Manning and Carson Palmer. Not bad company. He trails Manning by only 27 yards.
Travis Henry leads the NFL in rushing.
Javon is tied for the league lead in receptions through two weeks with 17 receptions. He is 5th in receiving yards.
Elvis Dumervil is now tied for 3rd in the league for sacks with 2 sacks.
Both of our CB's have recorded an INT this season.
We are first in yards per game on offense with 455yds. We are 5th in passing yards, at 279.5 yds per game. We are 4th in rushing offense with 179 per game.
On defense we are 2nd in the NFL in yards per game at 218.5. We have held two straight QB's under 100yds passing... i couldn't tell you the last time that was done in the NFL. We are 1st giving up 62.5 yds passing a game.
Finally, WE ARE IN 1st PLACE in the AFC WEST!
There you go, far from perfect but lots of things to be happy about it...
Just something for you number crunchers:
Cutler is on pace to throw for 4500yds this season.
Henry is on pace to rush for 2136 yds.
Javon Walker is on pace to bring in 1760 rec. yards.
Brandon Marshall is on pace for 1076 rec. yards.
Brandon Stokely is on pace for 864 yds.

I wasnt ripping on Cutler. Anyone here disagree that he was very average today? Anyone here disagree that he is "young and learning"? Anyone here disagree that he had some idiot moments? Anyone here think that Cutler is the reason that the Raiders almost won that game? What part of the one sentence that I talked about Cutler was ripping on him?
You people think that just because I dont exalt Cutler as a God, that I dont glorify his excrement as a Holy Relic that I hate him and want to bag on him. No. I criticize him the same as I do anything else. Cutler yesterday almost cost us the game by being an idiot. He is young and learning (which I menationed), I expect that but the pattern of making really stupid plays when there is no need is concerning.
As for being a Vince Young fanboy, so what. What the **** does that have to do with this thread? Honestly, you people are retarded. You want someone bagging on Cutler, go read crazyhorses thread comparing him to Plummer. Go rip on the ****ing Chief troll. Dont rip on the guy just pointing out Cutler's mistakes.

He certainly wasn't perfect yesterday and he made some mistakes which cost us bigtime but my main concern has already been pointed out in Alec's initial post.
Our run D sucks and it is going to be crucified in upcoming weeks unless Bates can get something from the weakest interior line in football. If you put 7-8 in the box and cant stop Lamont Jordan then whenever we play against a team with an average or better QB we better put 30 pts on the board ourselves to have a chance.

I'd like to see our linebackers wrap up when they tackle. Webster is the best tackler out of the three. DJ and Gold miss 2 out of three tackles. They are usually there in the gap and hit the back, only to not wrap up and watch the back gain another 7 yards.

You said it. On that last play in OT before the FG that pretty much guaranteed the win and got us in the red zone (pass to Marshall), Cutler was absolutely clutch.
Marshall was the third read on that play!
How many other young QBs, starting just their 7th game, in a make or break play, step back in the pocket and calmy make it to their third read?
We just went through a QB that could barely read half the field. This kid has shown more passing ability in the last couple of games that we've seen in Denver in a long, long time.
Whine about the rookie mistakes if he's in this third/fourth year and still screwing up.
In the meantime, enjoy the ride.

Jay made some mistakes - yes, we all know that. His poise with the game on the line is very impressive. Two weeks in a row and two game winning drives. I'll take that week after week. I'm more concerned with the run defense. We were stacking the line, daring McCown to beat us with his arm, and we still got run over.

But thankfully he is not Vince Young!!! Don't get me wrong, I think VY will always be successful. Probably more so than Vick b/c he's a little bit better at throwing the football, but he's not near Cutler and won't be over his career.

I really don't agree with Kaylor on the accuracy though. So many times the WRs have to reach back or stop to get the ball. Its a testimate to our skill at WR though as they continue to snag the balls even if they are off. I am sure that will get better as he gets used to the speed.

I dont think this is an accuracy issue with Cutler. From what I have seen he is a very accurate QB. This appears to be more of a timing issue than an accuracy one. He can put that ball anywhere he wants.

What I don't understand is this "idiot play" talk.
Which was it? The first interception when he didn't see the linebacker in his drop? It happens. Happened to Peyton yesterday.
The second interception? Cutler is a idiot for having a pass tipped at the line of scrimmage? Every QB in the league is an idiot then, because it happens to every QB.
The safety? Should have gotten rid of the ball quicker, sure, but that is an experience thing.
Idiot? Poor choice of words.
The guy has started 7 games in the NFL for crying out loud.

The Raiders defense will have them within a score in the fourth quarter all year long against a lot of contenders. Our run defense needs serious work. Lamont Jordan is an average to below average starting RB in this league. If we don't solve that problem quickly the above average RBs are going to kill us.

Doesnt change the fact that he is an idiot. So is Leinart, Young, Big Ben, David Carr, and most other young QBs. The safety was huge, he should have been aware of what was going on even at 7 games in. The first pick was moronic. The second pick could have been avoided had he adjusted the angle of the throw because Lepsis was being pushed back into him RIGHT IN HIS FACE. it wasnt like it was on the blindside and he turned and threw, he was looking right at the LT being pushed into him and did not adjust the angle of his throw.
All things that can be corrected, but all idiotic plays. That doesnt mean Im bashing him, doesnt mean I dont want him to do well, doesnt mean that Im not excited for him.
For Christ's sake people. I never bought a Plummer jersey but I got a Cutler one. What does that tell you? I dont hate the guy, but Im also not going to perform fellatio on him when he has a poor game which he did. 1 TD and 2 interceptions and a safety. Cutler is this uber calm serial killer whose just murdering defense co-ordinators plans because as soon as they figure out something about him he unlearns it and does something else. He's like the 10 foot tall puppy that is still growing and he's just playing out there. He isn't even doing it right but he's having fun and we are winning and it's all good. :peace:
Cutler made a LOT of mistake out there but he is A LOT of things you don't find in a first year guy and he's doing them really well. Answer this question!
1. Do you think that Cutler suddenly decided to stop looking at game film now that he's the starter?
2. Does he look like the kind of Quarterback that isn't going to himself. "hmm. What else could I have done out there to put this away or had more fun?"
3. Does he look impressed with himself? Is he popping his collar? Is he doing any Lenny Walls celebrations for getting a first down for example?
4. Are his numbers in line with the top 10 quarterbacks in the league?
I know! I know! We must suffer and worry to be good fans. Let's suffer over the Special teams for a moment. Wait! That pogue inconsistent lot has won the game twice! Those bastards!
How about our horrible defense that cannot seem to stop a running back name Lamont dressed as a Raider? Wait! Isn't this the same pogue defense that is sacking the QB and getting the offense the ball back with on key downs? Those bastards!
Hmmmm.
I agree with Broncofiend. When Cutler stops growing and than fans have to face that this is really all that he is going to be then we'll see who the real Cutler fans area. Right now I say let the kid play. He's having a great time out there.

No one's saying the kid is perfect. Far from it, he's made a lot of mistakes but if you look closely you'll see that the kid just makes plays when we need it.
Remember that final pass to Marshall in OT? Well Nate Jackson completely whiffed on his block at the snap allowing a DL to spring through. Cutler should have been sacked but had enough mobility to escape and presence of mind to still fire the ball into Marshall. But it was so quick that people probably didn't notice it.
Same with the safety. Yes he should have been more aware but Chris Myers got absolutely pancaked and fell backwards to give Warren a free run at Cutler. Not really his fault.

Cutler needs to work on some things, he still to aggressive always looking for the big play vs taking what the defense gives him (that will come with time), still needs to work on his timing, and still has tendency to stand in the pocket to long to let a play develop -see the safety.
My major concern is the overuse of the pass right now, Shanahan and Dinger aren't doing the kid any favor, especial in the second half, let him drop back 3 time to pass and running the ball. I sure the offense is going to be good, but I still very concern about the rush defense.

As for being a Vince Young fanboy, so what. What the **** does that have to do with this thread?Because you clearly pray every day that Young will turn out better than Cutler so you can rip Shanahan and give a big fat "I told you so" to all of us who said Cutler will be hands down better than your chosen one. Your desperate already to combat what the rest of the league has seen with Cutler far outperforming both Young and Leinart. Your attempts to minimize Cutler's performance are nothing more than a transparent attempt to keep Young on the same level with Jay when he clearly is not.

Cutler easily outplayed Losman week 1, and McCown week 2. 7 games in, he's a top 15 QB in this league. People need to put things in perspective and think about that. You can probably count on 2 hands the number of QBs that are better, right now, than Cutler.
Is he top 5 right now? No. But so what? He's on par with what Peyton was at this point. And that is special.
