Without sifting through your camp reports....how did he perform in TC?
Do you think he has a good shot of making the squad after his suspension? If so, who do you think we'd let go to make room for him?

He was a better pass rusher than run stopper. I thought he had his moments but nothing too impressive. I guess if the staff hasn't cut him yet even with his suspension looming that means they like what he's doing.

If the staff had him even making it to the last round of cuts, they should not cut him. He does not count against the cap, and or the roster for his suspension of four weeks. If he were to be cut, they can do it when the suspension is over, but if we have an injury by then, he is safe, and not exposed to waivers should we need him on the roster. So it works out almost like a four week PUP list.
I do not think he will be active this year, unless we have another injury along the defensive front. But when he was in Green Bay, he did play both tackle and end for Bates. So he at least should know the system.

I do know that he had his best year playing for Bates in Green Bay, for what that is worth.

Or they could just be hanging on to him in case they happen to need him due to injuries come week 5. He's not taking up a roster spot right now so there's no downside to keeping him around. In fact, if they cut him now and he wasn't signed by anyone else, wouldn't his suspension need to be served only when he signed with a new team? If that's true, keeping him around is best for him so he can serve his suspension and go to another team with a not quite as dirty slate. Either way, I'd bet on him getting released after the suspension.
