He ducked the final cut but he fell prey to the wild Rice.

So does this mean the Broncos go into the season with only 5 Linebackers and no linebackers on the practice squad? Pretty thin don't you think?

To answer my own question... yes the Broncos released the backup to Ian Gold. So this leaves only DD Lewis and L Green as the backups. What concerns me is no linebacker on the practice squad.

we will get a line backer as soon as Bell is traded. IMO

There is probably some truth to that. Seems very risky to have such little depth at that position.

I mentioned that I thought we'd go 5 LBs a while back, we have Cargile who can play LB in a pinch already on the PS, so we have some protection there. I'd like to see us add Buster Davis though. The Cards cut two other LBs with him so he might not get a PS offer from them. We should be swooping in on that ASAP as he could be a very good fit for Bates' scheme at MLB should something bad happen with DJ. He's powerful and a ferocious tackler. Not a burner by any stretch, but he should work well in the "funnel" created from Bates' front line schemes.

I think he is joining lions practice squad.

Yuck, if the story quoting his mom is legit thats reason enough not to want him. Turned down AZ's practice squad offer, wasn't upset about being cut, and signed with Detroit simply because they have his buddy Ernie Sims?

Davis doesn't have insane physical talent so the lack of commitment and intensity is a pretty big turn off for teams. Maybe that sheds light on why the Cards thought they were better off dropping an early 3rd rounder before the regular season started.

Davis is supposed to be a better fit for cover 2 teams like Detroit, so it will be a good move for him.
