That is very surprising. I know he is quite short, but he packs a good hit, is pretty strong and is very, very smart. That's too bad for Buster, I like that kid. He can definitely play at this level, despite his lack of height.

Aren't the Cardinal attempt to swith over to 3/4 defense? I think that Davis would be excellent MLB if he had the two big DT in front of him but isn't suited to be insider backer in the 3/4 defense.

Cowboys | Moore could still go to practice squad
Sat, 1 Sep 2007 05:49:37 -0700
Nick Eatman, of DallasCowboys.com, reports Dallas Cowboys QB Matt Moore is a candidate to make the team's practice squad if he is released Saturday, Sept. 1. If the team keeps three quarterbacks on their active roster, Moore would probably make the 53-man roster. If injury or depth concerns cause the team to keep just two quarterbacks, Moore would likely get released with hopes of retaining him on the practice squad.

In camp Graham took a lot of snaps at fullback on the first team. Guess between him and Sapp KJ is expendable.
KJ was a great speaker and would frequently appear on John Lynch's show. It sucks that such a great personality was let go, but it's about a better product on the field and not a fun one.

ENGLEWOOD – Veteran receiver and kickoff returner Quincy Morgan was among the Denver Broncos players informed of their release Saturday morning.
The Broncos had to cut down to 53 players Saturday. Defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy, a former first-round pick of the St. Louis Rams who Denver acquired in a trade this offseason, also left the team headquarters before a team meeting, but he didn’t stop to answer questions.
Other players, including running back Andre Hall, quarterbacks Preston Parsons and Darrell Hackney, and offensive lineman Chad Mustard left headquarters before the meeting, apparently after being informed they were released. Some players who might have been on the roster bubble, such as running back Mike Bell and tight end Stephen Alexander, stayed as the meeting was beginning. The Broncos will officially announce their cuts Saturday night.
Morgan, who started preseason as the Broncos’ primary kickoff returner, said he was told the Broncos would go with five receivers – Javon Walker, Brandon Marshall, Brandon Stokley, Brian Clark and Domenik Hixon.
“I felt like I earned a spot,” Morgan said. “They said that too, but it’s the nature of the business.”

One way or another, there's gonna be talent cut from that squad. It shouldn't be any of Welker, Stallworth, or Moss... but if some of the lower guys outwork them, they could be a salary casualty... why waste money on them if one of those 3 will be at #4 or below.

If someone just isn't good enough to make the team, you don't make the team worse by cutting them. Maybe they need more bodies and if they do, I'm sure they'll go get them from other cuts. There's gonna be other serviceable vets cut as well. The fact that someone didn't make final cuts isn't all that significant though. If he were good enough to make a difference, he wouldn't be cut in the first place.

From what I witnessed in pre-season Kennedy didn't play too badly whilst others who may make the team we're invisible. Then again I'm not a coach so what do I know. I would've liked a little more experience on that line. At present out of all our DT's only 2 have any significant playing time in the regular season.

i'm with you on that one. He seemed not to get blown of the los like gordon, and he even got penetration in the cle or dallas(cant remember which game) game a few times. I guess in this system, penetration isn't the point, but i doubt getting pushed back into the secondary is the point either.

I agree on the experience thing.. Gordon and Burton were both practice squad last year, Mckinley (sp?) is a sub-300 lb DT, and Thomas is a rook. That is not an awe-inspiring group at all but I don't know that Kennedy adds much, but I admit that I don't know a whole lot about him. Suck as he may, I think Gordon was probably the most impressive DT in the preseason that I noticed, including a 2 or 3 sack game.

See, I didn't watch the DL specifically and really only noticed them when they were in on plays. Gordon stands out to me because he was a starter and because of his sacks, probably. The only one I personally noticed being pushed around was Adams. I just think it's a matter of none of them being any better than the others and only wanting 4 or 5 DTs...

we definatley have a problem with our dt's. they are a very crucial cog in this system, and I haven't been impressed. I have refused to comment on DJ williams play so far, because I am not sure how much of his poor play is from getting stuck in traffic. We have all been versed on Bates scheme to some degree and I dont see any of our DTs tying up the line and holding off blockers. Gordon, has had his moments, but if Bates requires a dt to play with power and hold his gap and take up double teams, than from what little I have seen Gordon is not the answer and Kennedy seemed to at least be closer to the other dlinemen during a play, whereas Gordon was blown back and once, I even saw his leg buckle and he went straight down. I don't see KEnnedy as a huge upgrade, but he is an upgrade at least imo.

Aaron Glenn cut from the Cowboys... I figured he'd stay on until at least Newman was healthy. They could be hurting if he isn't back to 100% by game time. DeDe Dorsey was also cut from the Colts.. I think I'm going to dig up that thread where I was ripping on Quentin Moses and Anthony Spencer and people were saying I was wrong...8')
I watched a game in the preseason and QM looked good had a sack and got pressure.
Looks like well keep our fifth though.
DD was also cut from the raiders.

Apparently Spencer isn't looking good either.
I will say I ate crow on Crowder. He looks better than I thought he would.
Well hey I was right! I had a gut all three of those guys would be there, but as the season went on and the draft came near, I started to sour on Moses as well. I still really wouldn't mind giving him a shot, basically free - but I doubt that'd happen.
Couldn't be happier with who we have though, I mean had we had more picks sure - but Moss and Crowder will be good, we both know that.

Yeah pulling Moses off the trash heap would totally be worth it but he won't fall to us through waivers.

I dunno ... I thought Steve Cargile was very impressive. I had him tabbed to replace Nick Ferguson one day. He's this year's Dorsett Davis I guess.
I think I'll just stick to doing whatever it is I do ;D

Yes ... as I recall, some folks were projecting Quentin Moses up into the late first round. He seemed like a Jarvis Moss type - tall and lean and fast. That sounds pretty funny now. :~ohyah!:
But Khan, Spencer was getting raves in Dallas as a 3-4 OLB. They supposedly love him, think he'll bookend with Ware for the next decade or so...

Yes sir, he did ... makes us even on the Jimmy Kennedy throwaway pick Uhh Why didn't Shanahan make the pick roster-conditional in that trade? The Rams couldn't move that guy ... they had tried since before the draft.
Also .... Mason Crosby won the Packers' kicking job! ^5

EAGLES SWOOP FOR VON OELHOFFEN
The Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday signed veteran defensive tackle Kimo von Oelhoffen to a one-year contract on undisclosed terms.
Von Oelhoffen, 36, was released by the Jets on Saturday as part of their final roster cutdown.
A sixth-round selection of the Cincinnati Bengals in 1994, the 6ft 4in Von Oelhoffen spent time with the Bengals (1994-99), the Pittsburgh Steelers (2000-05) and Jets (2006).
The 14-year veteran has recorded 395 tackles and 26 1/2 sacks in 192 career games. He has played in 105 consecutive regular and postseason contests.
Von Oelhoffen's most productive season came in 2003 with the Steelers, when he tallied 40 tackles and eight sacks.
To make room on the 53-man roster, the Eagles placed defensive tackle Ian Scott on the injured reserve list

Wow, so much for Sapp's thinking he wasn't going to break into his eight.
BTW if you want a long career in the NFL become a good long snapper. Amazing the TE we carry on the 53 man roster. Did Leach play this pre season as a TE? Must have missed it.
