I didn't get to listen to this, but a poster on Broncomania said that they interviewed Sundquist and he was asked about our cap situation and willingness to go out and get veterans like Trotter or Rice. Sundquist stated we're around seven million under the cap, but Bowlen gives him a "budget" at the end of the year, and it appears that the Broncos have already reached that limit. Sundquist also stated that they do look at the waiver wire, but he elaborated that system complexity leads him and the Broncos to give their back-up players a chance rather than looking at talent outside the team that would have to develop a while before making a contribution to the team.
That's my summary off of what BSD posted on the other forum, I thought ya'll would be interested.

I heard the interview - twice and that pretty much sums it up. Their cash budget for the year is shot. No signings unless they create cash by a deferment or moving a salary off the roster.

The Broncos are worth 950 Million+. I doubt he's strapped for cash.

He isn't strapped for cash... There is a business side to this.
The Broncos were probably in the top 5 in the league as far as spending $ this off season. That isn't what a cheap owner does. They spent a boatload of money and now it's time to see what the payoff is.

The sixth richest franchise in football isn't hurting for cash. They just have a budget and I think everyone would agree that we pushed that this offseason.

It's all about how many millions have left Bowlens account upfront. I don't the numbers for sure but Graham got around 10 mil upfront, Henry 12, Bly I think was 10 mil plus, and then all the rookies and other FA. So you are looking at well over 40 million probably just in bonuses. Sure the cap has 5-7 mil left on it but he has already spent a ton out of pocket before the years revenue starts pouring in.
Gotta pay to win... saying that, theres not much if any owrth paying for on the market. Well outside of Rice, but shanny wants to see the kids grow up fast.

I'm pretty sure there'd be no problem bringing in a Sam Adams type signing which wont include any signing bonuses.

I don't know what Bowlen's complaining about, I bought my Broncos jersey for the season. He should be fine.
