I met Dave Studdard tonight in Pueblo and I asked him about the depth behind Lepsis. He said Lepsis is hurt worse than we think. I don't know if that was just his opinion or what because this pretty much ranks as info from the guy on the light rail, but it might be a concern.

Did you think to ask him how Kasey's doing so far with the Texans?

Dave Studdard has no real connection with the organization, but thanks for sharing.

I'm ready for the draft! The Denver Broncos are on the clock as far as I'm concerned! ;D

if we forfeit to 0-16 we'd have the #1 pick. good catch. i hope bowlen has his wallet open so we can load up.
or maybe we could trade out of the #1 pick and stockpile picks. man, the options are endless!

I mean no offense whatsoever, and I might wonder if perhaps Dave has some update information no-one else has, but recently, I had an opportunity to talk with Lepsis, along with most of the players along the offensive line (group interview with a dozen or so local/regional hacks).
I learned his groin injury is incredibly painful and he wonders if it will ever heal as long as he continues to practice & play every day. In addition, he still has scar tissue on his knee that is troublesome...so, yeah, it may seem like it's worse than it really is...even to Lepsis.
...but, the team physician, a team specialist & a private specialist have all told Lepsis and the coaching staff he can, and will work through it...AND feel better..not worse...with regular football activity, not worse.
Matt is in his 11th year and coming off a major injury. No matter what he does for re-hab, his age works against him, and everything is going to hurt a little more than it used to.
In addition, he is hyper-sensitive to pain in & around his injury area...as anyone coming off a major injury/surgery would be.
he will work through it.
All-everything Gary Zimmerman often couldn't put on, or take off his own pads his last TWO years because of escalating trauma to his shoulders...he played through it until he couldn't any longer.
I assume Lepsis will do the same.
For what it's worth.

First of all WTF does Dave Studdard know?
Secondly, he is one of my all-time favorites.

Maybe...but it's possible he knows something. I hope not though. We need Lepsis more than any player outside of Cutler or Champ.

Thanks Wabbit, I enjoy reading your posts and appreciate your insights.
It seems clear that we will need to address our O-line this coming off-season. There is a need to infuse a few young (& talented) players to learn from Lepsis & Nalen.

Let's see, Studdard played with Dennison. That might be a connection!

So Crowe comes in, shares a bit of a conversation he had with a former Broncos player. He doesn't pretend it is the most important information of the century or it's the Holy Word of God.
And then most of the replies nail him for sharing his conversation.
15 yard penalty to OM for piling on!

Thanks to Wabbit. Most of the players are nursing a pain or three this time of the year. Hope he does indeed work through it....
Do not believe these impromtu "insider interviews" until it is confirmned by the guy on the light rail.........

I hope the Broncos go after a LT in next year's draft with the same intensity they went after Cutler. Hard to believe Lepsis is in his 11th year. It seems like just a couple of years ago he was the Buff's TE. Tempis fugits.

I think what is evident by this thread is that many people are concerned about Denver's o-line...and just hw soon until it is addressed either by free-agency or by the draft. They need players who can man up against the behemoths on the defensive side not just quick cut blockers.
This "He has to fit the mold of our linemen" is bunk. They need people with talent and smarts. I'm not saying they've got to change what they're doing but they do need to be able to judge players better.
George Foster...big, strong, supposedly great feet for a big guy. He didn't exhibit any of that except the big part. And he didn't seem to be a heady player either. Hamilton is too small. Lepsis doesn't handle speed guys very well and can get pushed by the strong defender. And the right side is not good.
Let's look at their tackle situation:
Lepsis is injured and hurting. BTW, Why not rest him until the real deal???
Harris just went under or is going under the knife and a rookie.
Meadows is old, oft-injured...in a word washed-up.
Pears is inexperienced and needs to stay put at RT.
Mustard is more of a TE/blocker than a tackle. If he was called on to play tackle, they'd need to help him every play.
Who else is there?? Europa players...
If that doesn't bother you...

Funny...I said all that a few months back and got the community beat down for it. Fact is...we're undersized and undertalented at some key spots and need some animals in there that can smack people in the face. The scheme is great...think how much greater it would be if we had the '97 line. Priority #1 next draft, right next to the D-tackle spot.

I disagree. Zim could have played one more year if he really really wanted to. In hindsight I bet he wishes he would have stuck around for that undefeated run of 1998.

I doubt it. Zim made it pretty clear he was done with football at that point. Elway had to coax him to even play the 97 season if I remember correctly.
