1. Will the starting offense be as effective with a bigger role?
The Broncos drove for a touchdown in their only series against San Francisco. The starters will play about 20-25 snaps tonight, which means quarterback Jay Cutler, right, probably will throw more than the two passes he did against the 49ers.
2. Can the Broncos stop the run?
The 49ers rushed for 144 yards against the Broncos, and they rested starter Frank Gore, a Pro Bowl player last year. The Cowboys have a good running game with Julius Jones and Marion Barber, so tonight will be a big test for Denver.
3. Will Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler make a difference?
Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said both second-year players will play tonight. Marshall, a receiver, and Scheffler, a tight end, missed the start of camp and the preseason opener with injuries. The Broncos had only 89 passing yards without them against the 49ers.
4. What will Jarvis Moss do?
Moss, Denver’s first-round pick, said his injured knee felt better in practices against the Cowboys. The defensive end appeared for only a few plays Monday. In his few snaps, he had one good pass rush and fellow rookie Tim Crowder got the sack on the play.
5. Is Patrick Ramsey going to be better?
Ramsey, Jay Cutler’s backup, had only 45 yards passing in about three quarters against the 49ers, but he was often under pressure. Ramsey likely will likely play most of the second half tonight.
