Romo and T.O. could have been Broncos
It doesn't take too much imagination to picture Tony Romo and T.O. suiting up with the Valley Ranch visitors this week. They both considered the Broncos before signing with the Cowboys.
Denver was the first place T.O. visited after getting the boot from Philly. He recalled eating at a steakhouse near the Broncos' facility with Mike Shanahan but was vague when asked how close he came to signing with Denver.
"I'm not sure," T.O. said. "My agent handled that part of it. It was a good visit. ... There was an opportunity, but I'm happy here with the Cowboys. We're looking to do great things."
It's actually a bit surprising that Romo didn't sign with the Broncos after going undrafted. Shanahan is a fellow Eastern Illinois alumn, and Romo was a huge John Elway fan as a kid. Plus, as Shanahan mentioned this morning, Denver offered a bigger signing bonus than the Cowboys.
"It’s never been about money," said Romo, who has a puny contract by starting-QB standards. "The thing with me is, it’s just about playing the game and having fun doing it. This is just a good situation. Denver was, too. It really came down to Denver and Dallas. I think I made the right choice right now."
Looking back, im glad this scenario didnt happen.

Plus, check out what Wade said about his Broncos tenure.

Looking back
The Broncos, who will scrimmage with the Cowboys today and Thursday, have a special place in Wade Phillips' heart. He was the defensive coordinator there from 1989 to '92, and the head coach in '93 and '94. The Broncos were 16-16 under Phillips, and 0-1 in the playoffs.
The man who replaced Phillips, Mike Shanahan, has been there since.
And Phillips doesn't buy the popular theory it was then-Broncos quarterback John Elway who led the fire-Phillips charge.
"It just worked out well for [Shanahan]," Phillips said. "He's done a great job, but they went 8-8 the next year. It's not like they won the Super Bowl. I don't feel bad [like] all of a sudden I couldn't coach the team at all."
