So far I am a little worried about both our lines. Myers almost got the QB killed once. Meadows has looked terrible. Pears has not looked too great. Kuper appears to be struggling. On the defensive line, Moss and Crowder have gotten hurt, and Moss has yet to return. The new starter Gordon did nothing impressive. Really, Engleberger and Elvis were the only standouts. Not making me any more optimistic.

maybe its me but didn kuper and lepsis ride the pine tonight?

MNF is going to be absolutely disgusting to watch this year. Kornheiser doesn't know anything about the game. Terico just talks and Jaws spends more time explaining and talking about when he played than the game. Coupled with about 45 sideline interviews its going to be long Monday nights.

Yeah, that sucked. Totally unprofessional of her, I thought.

When interviewing, it happens when you mix up names, especially when you are interviewing a "Smith"

However, I agree. When you're talking about death, you need to be sure. I'm honestly surprised Rod didn't correct her.

The Invesco Field @ Mile High screw up doesn't bother me that much because I don't even call it Invesco. You know that they were probably packing up the stuff anyway.

Good performance for the most part from the top down

Garcia Bronco

Let us in on the scoops!

Henry relizes that it's not really just "the System". Mike Bell knows he needs to block better than last year. Nick Ferg understands that there are young guys like abdullah ready to take his spot if he doesn't perform. John Lynch feels that the defense needs some work. That's the short of it.

fdf
08-13-2007, 11:38 PM
For all the criticism the defense has taken, they've only given up 3 points since the end of the first quarter....

That was when the starters came out. So our scrubs have managed to keep points off the board. Good for them. OTOH, if the two series they played are representative, our starters have a very long way to go before they are an average NFL defense.

BroncoBuff

Well, I thought Hackney looked way better than Ramsey tonight. Moves well and appears to be pretty decisive.

I thought much the same thing ... let's hope they PS Hackney, see if he develops.

The big story to me was Steve Cargile though. I'm not sure where they wanna play him, but what a ball-hawk, he was all over the field! ALL HAIL STEVE CARGILE!

I am a little concerned with Cutler's throws down the left sideline like the one that short hopped to Hixon. I went to training camp a couple of times and it seemed like he is somewhat inaccurate when throwing to his left in the 20 yard range. Maybe it is just me being paranoid, Kaylore did you notice this in camp at all?

Oakland Raiders.. "Headed in the right direction"

ROFL! Hilarious! LOL
I thought the same thing ... that was an odd thing to say!

Their first-time head coach still going through puberty ...

He's also in the freaking hospital right now! ...

The first overall draft pick is mired in a contract holdout ...

The rookie Raiders contract negotiator is by all accounts out of his depth ...

Culpepper looks like he's closing in on 300 pounds ...

and they are the Raiders after all.

theAPAOps5
08-13-2007, 11:46 PM
I don't think Hackney had the same talent around him to be better than Ramsey. Yeah Ramsey had happy feet more than a few times but he also threw some nice balls. Hixon slipped a few times as did others. Hackney needs time with the second squad before I say he was better than Ramsey. Just my opinion though.

What really needs work is our DLine and LB. It was much of the same, just 2 seconds too late on the rush and enough time for WR's to get open. We have to get a pass rush going. I mean Engleberger had a sack but damn it took about 6 weeks to get to the QB.

RDef. needs to step it up I hope is cause of vanilla calling but needs to show me more. Burger was shut down almost all night except a sac and never heard the LE's name. Hackney should look better he was tossing on 3rd and 4rth d's. Need more input to see more.

Some of my takes.

1 We won, so that is a start.

2) Our starting D was not any better than last season

3) knock out the 1 good return QM had and our ST are no better either.

4) Meadows and Pears had to get better to suck.

5) There was an Elvis sighting, But his alignment wide makes it easy to run against.

6) Did I mention we won?

I hope of we are getting rid of Warren, we get something worth a damn back in return.

Karl Paymah sucked more than anybody tonight I thought ... even more than Meadows ... he had one illegal contact penalty, and came very close to 2 more PI calls - including that horribly awkward one in the end zone. Only thing that saved him was the pass was uncatchable.

Where are they gonna put that Steve Cargile? He looks like a PLAYMAKER if they put him in the right spot. Had his nose on the ball all night long, tremendous closing speed, and he really sold out when he went horizontal to try to knock down that pass on the near sideline late in the game.

Abdullah looked awesome too ... as did all 4 RBs I thought - even Selvin Young.

David Terrell is a waste of space ...

Kenard Lang looked pretty thin ...

D.J. got fooled badly once ...

Who is the LB #51 ? I jhad never heard of him, but he made a couppla plays ...

Webster and Veal both look hungry ...

Demetrin Veal didn't seem the type to hitchhike across Europe to me ...

Eslinger needs to lift more weights ... :strong:

Didn't see Marcus Thomas or Ryan Harris ??? Were their absences known ahead of time?

Jarvis Moss went off the field injured, right? (so many stupid interviews I couldn't tell for sure). Anyway, I saw him on the bench later - he looked fine.

So I had to DVR this game due to fact that I played in 2 Softball Tourneys beating the 3rd and 1st seed teams to move on to semi-finals in B league.

I was ejected in 1st game because another player was ejected for running into catcher. Playing 9 guys the team came back from a 2 -12 hole.

I did not pitch well at all in the 2nd game but I got pitches over when it counted and had the game winning hit when they walked a guy to get to me landing me the game winning RBI.

I watched the 1st quarter of the Bronco game on DVR, LOVE CUTLER! I will watch the rest tonight & troll through this thread.

All in all a great night!

Huh? What is your league like the Dark Crystal or something? If one player from a team gets ejected, a player from the opposing team has to go as well so the numbers are even?

Or do you mean you were ejected for retaliating after your catcher was run into?

You lose your pitcher if a player is ejected as a penalty, I guess to try to keep fights from breaking out. So you lose 2 guys total.

I was ready to put the beat down on though and had to be restrained by my 4 year old daughter.

I despise ESPN, too, for ruining an American tradition. Monday Night Football is now a joke, thanks to those idiot ratbastards in the booth who will not. shut. up.

What is with all the helmets popping off this year? Every game I've seen so far there are far more helmets coming off than I ever remember previously.

Our running game looked scary good. If that is effective early on, teams will adjust opening it up for Cutler. I just hope the OL comes together.

Defense has some things to work on, but it was simplified for the first game. I think the key will be if the LBs figure out their roles and can react appropriately and quickly.
