ENGLEWOOD – The Denver Broncos practiced in front of a record crowd Saturday, then called it a weekend.

There were 3,089 fans at practice, breaking the old record for training camp attendance since the team moved camp to its Dove Valley headquarters in 2003.

“It was good to see a lot of people out here,” cornerback Champ Bailey said.

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan canceled the afternoon practice, after a spirited practice in full pads in the morning. The Broncos’ next practice is Monday morning.

Broncos linebacker Warrick Holdman, who was carted off the field with a spinal cord concussion Thursday, watched practice Saturday. He was released from the hospital Friday, and said he felt good. Shanahan said the team would be cautious before allowing him to return to practice.

“It was a scary moment, but I’m OK now,” Holdman said. It’s part of the job. That’s the bad part of the job, but I’m OK now.”
