Folks, the last time I watched a kid this impressive in High School was in Houston he went on to do great things (Vince Young!). Many here can remember me talking both Vince Young and Cedric Benson up when they were in High School. Well, here's the next "big thing" out of the Lonestar state. Some of you Texas folk might already know of him or have atleast got to see him play. A buddy of mine called and said I had to watch him play. He's special indeed. Watch his training (Nike) video and you will see some very special feet. He has incredible explosion and seems much bigger than the 5'11" -6' and 190lbs most have him listed at. His speed is legit (listed at 4.3). His bench (15 reps) is very good for a HS JUNIOR! I can imagine this kid playing at 215-220 lbs by his sophmore year in college. Looks like he wants to go to Michigan btw. Michigan is a good choice but a Texas kid with his talent is insane to pass up UT. Charles will be a Junior by time he shows up so there's no excuse there! Anyhow, you check him out and tell me what you think! http://www.chicagosports.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=54392&sport=1

The last youtube video is about 5 minutes long. Nothing but highlights and they aren't repeats. This kid is the real deal! Michigan has to be extremely happy right about now!

His speed is absolutely phenomenal, and he has fantastic moves. I understand that these are highlight reels, but it does look like he has very good vision and is very patient, allowing his blocks to develop in front of him albeit his all-world speed. In regards to Tatum Bell, I think he let his speed get the best of him, and he'd try to do too much with that, rather than being a patient runner, this kid looks like he has the patience to go along with the sweet feet.

Like you mentioned, he seems to have that Willie Parker speed, and those hurdles remind me a lot of Brian Leonard too. I can't compare him to a prospect in college or a professional based on highlight reels from high school, but he looks like an impressive prospect, and being a Michigan fan second to Florida State, I'll enjoy watching this kid throughout his college career.

One thing that's noticable through the highlight reel is that he is not overly strong, does avoid contact and goes down easy. It's high school, so I think he is really using his speed to get by on a lot of things. You might say that he broke some tackles, but a lot of the ankle grabs were going nowhere, and a lot of those kids were taking poor ankles because they were absolutely stupified about how the kid was performing.

3,000 yards in one year, and 40+ touchdowns is absolutely phenomenal. His line is very overpowering too, but a lot of that success is because he's an extremely gifted person.

I don't think he'll be able to do some of the tricks he did in high school at college, but it'll be interesting to see where he falls down the road if we're still around in a few years if he'll emerge as the quality prospect coming out of college as he does coming out of high school.

Thank you for this link and the videos. I love the Broncos and seldom do I have time to ever really look into the recruits that FSU and Michigan are getting on a yearly basis. Plus, with my schools program on the rise, I like to pay more attention to them, because I get to interact with some of the freshman recruits on a daily basis because they either live in my dorm, or they're at activities I coordinate on campus.

Awesome stuff though.

He'll probably get stronger and bigger over time, and he might lose some explosiveness. He does need to work on his strength though, and it did appear that he at times would shy away from contact.

Very impressive to say the least.

Do you have any information on the district he plays in and his competition? That could speak some volumes as well. It's Texas, so I'm guessing it's the real deal.

He's playing 5A ball and right up the street from Katy. I know he's played against the likes of North Shore and Katy. Katy the South's DeLaSalle! For the past decade they've been in the Nation's top 10 almost every year. Anytime you put up those kind of numbers in Texas at a 5A school you're freaking special. Did you see the video of him verbally commiting to Michigan? Notre Dame, USC, Texas A&M (right down the road) Michigan and Florida were the teams he narrowed it down to!

As for strength, He's obviously still developing but considering a HS kid is already benching 370+ and throwing up 225 15 times... he's well on his way to being a beast. A buddy of mine in Houston has seen him play a couple times. He told me he thought he was in the 220 range the first time he watched him play b/c he was physical. I watched Cedric Benson in HS and this kid is every bit as good. Benson was physical in HS and ran for very similar #'s. This kid is more Thomas Jones than Cedric Benson. Had 400 yards receiving as a Junior as well.

One last note, if memory serves Benson had a better Junior year in HS than Sr. It will be interesting to see if this kid has better numbers as a Senior. My guess is no. 3200 yards and 44 TD's. Tought to duplicate those #'s.

FYI, in Texas (5A ball) you don't play CB unless you run a 4.6 or better. Those kids were taking some very forgiving angles and still getting burnt! Kind of like when you play baseball you don't play the infield unless you throw in the 80's. You don't catch without a releast time of under .9 and you don't play the OF without running in the 3.9 range (plate to first or 90 ft).

Interestingly Tim Crowder was a big time Baseball player in Texas. He was a left handed pitcher throwing in the 90-92 mph range. Unfortunately in Texas that is fairly common ('cept for the left part) and he starting getting bigger to play football.

Do you know anything about DJ McNorton? He was first-team 5A - All District playing from Channelview, TX. He came here to NDSU, and by the sounds of it, he could have played for a D1 program, but opted to come here.

We got some other people, Warren Holloway - WR and Josh Hazley-Freeman, LB from the Houston area as well and I've read that some bigger schools were recruiting them lightly. Some safety, Melvin Thomas. . .

Any information on these guys?

Sounds like McNorton could be the real deal.

We got Gary Williams, a wide receiver who played for North Shore last year and when I first came to NDSU, we had another batch of players from the Houston area come in.

Jamar Champ, ATH - Justin Cash, WR - Nate Agbetola, CB - Courtney Mitchell, CB - Richard Bowman II, CB

Anything on these dudes as well?

I know that Bowman and Mitchell both got a lot of reps towards the end of the year last year and are likely to start as juniors.

Any information would be helpful. :)

He is amazing fast. I agree he goes down quick and the tackles he did break were sloppy attempts. But man you can't deny he has a ton of ability and that speed man.

He reminds me of of this kid my freshman year at CU. That was the year of Neuheisles top ranked recruiting class. It had the likes of Dan Graham, Andre Gurode, and Justin Bannan. There was this one guy named Cedric Cormier. One night in the dorms they pulled out their recruiting tapes and we were watching his. He was from Houston, North Shore in fact, and was recruited a ton. There was this one play where he was returning a kick and the last guy dove and actually broke his ankle. He STILL outran the rest of the team and scored. One of the most amazing things I ever saw. This kid has speed like that.

Gary Williams is a little on the small side. He's probably closer to 160 lbs as he's very thin on top of having a slender build. North Shore is a big time program in Houston right now. Trust me, you have High School sports accross the country and then you have Texas High School Football. I'm sure North Shore played plenty of games in Reliant Stadium over the past few years... that means 25000 fans or more are watching a High School game. Vince Young vs Reggie McNeal in High School was a huge game. I think nearly 40k showed up to the Alamo Dome for that one! At any rate I won't know much about the kids other than the bigger school boys.

Channelview hasn't been very good lately (past decade it seems!) but that doesn't mean McNorton isn't any good. In fact I don't think Channelview is even a 5A school??? If they are they're on the very short end of that div. That's not to say that there aren't good 4A schools or players. Friendswood (Jaxon Apel), LaMarque (8 state championship games since 93 won 6), and then teams like Stephenville and Denton.

Sorry I can't help more but I've been in North Texas for awhile and now I'm in Colorado so it's even more difficult to get news on these kids.

You come up with somebody from North Shore, Katy, Dobie (Pasadena), Yates, Aldridge, Friendswood, Pearland, Alvin, or Houston Sterling and I can get some info pretty easily... the others take some time.

Hey thanks for anything, Williams is pretty small - but I think he might contribute for us this year. Our WR spot is wide open next to Heckendorf.
