It's interesting that SoCal and I have met more people connected to the Broncos than Bob has connected to the Chiefs. That's really sad that he's met so few and not many are of much importance. I think media access must be better here in Dove Valley because I met and spoke with Shanahan, Bates and Bowlen and got a one on one interview Scott O'Brien the first day and Bob's just now meeting Herm? Different organizations do things differently, I guess.

I still don't get it...seriously.

What was the point of this post?

All of you are covering the teams you like, enjoying it, and getting great access and reports from the whole thing.

I thought Bob had the market cornered on immaturity until I read this post from you. Hilarious.

But but but...I met people sooner...fwap fwap ROFL!

Sad state of affairs man.

You can't see how funny it is though? Going out of your way to find out who talked to who...talking about how many feet you are away from an owner? It seems like Bob isn't the only one who has a lot of growing up to do in all of this situation. No problem though. The world needs fan boys as well as journalists. You do good work though. In time I have no doubt if you were to stick with it you would grow into the latter. I can't say that for Clayton.

Yes, the Chiefs are a pretty tough nut to crack.
I don't understand what advantage that offers the team. I mean what do they hope to gain from it? One thing I have noticed is there are two types of press. One is there to get information and find news and the other is there to create news by trying to piss people off. Generally I don't see too much of the latter and they have quite a bit of free reign here. I'm not sure what the advantage of a policy like that is.

And as for "playing Bob's game" I play it when I want to and on my terms. I've been annoying Bob for many years and it's quite fun.

The Chiefs front office is weird with the way they handle all of those things...and it is something that I disagree with once I got a good understanding from personal experience and the experience of close friends of how things work. But at the end of the day I am not sure it effects that much...any serious bits of information get out there at the same speed and no offense or anything but it isn't like any questions asked by you OM guys are really all that unique or something that hasn't been asked by anyone associated with Chiefs media. Now your trying to stir pot, Zach. Once you get a little more experience you'll come to understand that it not worth it -there is no winner and all it leads to more name calling and stupidity. It is a football message board and should be used as form of entertainment and nothing else.

Ok, so if that is true then you admit that there is no serious advantage to having the tight-butt policy that Carl runs. I mean if letting media roam free among players and coaches doesn't really alter the quality of the media coming out, then what point is there in being defensive about it, DOB?

How clearer can it be put by me? I wish Bob didn't post in the style he does here. I wish he were banned from here...but it has been my experience that none of these two things will ever change. So what are we left with? What can I do to try and change a board that I really do enjoy.

I guess I will go at the people that feed him attention all the time. And I mean all the time. He absolutely loves it.

Then I see really solid posters like yourself just sinking and sinking...playing the role he set up for you more and more. Have you really read some of your posts?

I wasn't making any real statement about the policies...thats my point. I was more so pointing out how funny it is that you feel the need to show everyone in an immature manner over and over again that your training camp experiences have somehow been more valid than his.

The whole time these spat have been going on...my posts have basically been...

I don't think you get it, DOB.

I think

1.) You really believe or at least want to believe most of what Bob says about your team and use this "please stop attacking Bob and his stupid point of view for the good of the board" crap as a guise to stop Bronco fans from ripping on him and the Chiefs.

2.)You don't realize that I have Bob on ignore 95% of the time and generally react to push his buttons. I also have no idea what you're talking about with this crap about me "sinking lower and lower" as I hardly ever even respond to him at all. I'm not much different as a poster than I ever have been except that I think I've mellowed out some. I haven't heard anyone else complain about my supposed degenerating condition.

I don't care that he's an attention whore. I understand that he's making up for lost time because he grew up pretty much being controlled and so his behavior is that of a five year old that never got to do what he wanted. If he enjoys it and we enjoy it then who cares?

3.) You're just another insecure Chief fan. Whether you guys are trolling here or whining, you are all here because you have inferiority complexes about your crappy team. Especially you Zach, get all whiny and start wringing your hands whenever some smack talk starts. I think it's because you can't take it. I think this is the real motivation for your being here and your Bob defense. In fact this thread and your complaining about me is just another tactic of yours to try and stop the attack on Bob and your Chiefs.

4.) Hey Bob. Larry Johnson isn't going to help you guys this year.

It's a control thing. They like to control the flow of information in and out of Arrowhead. They've been known to ostracize members of the press who are overly critical of the team. I think it's kinda pathetic. Sometimes they make it pretty hard to be a fan of the team, but I'm a glutton for punishment.

Honestly the Chiefs aren't anything the way they are being described in this thread. I've been pretty critical of them at times over the LJ situation and both Herm and Carl were very nice to me.

Course I did get a little scared when Tank Tyler walked right in front of me last night, mere inches from my face. I was pretty harsh on him the other day in my recap and wondered if he'd read it. ROFL!

Then they must just let Whitlock in because of who he writes for. It would probably be too much to ban a major news writer just because he's critical. I don't remember seeing him get any inside interviews or anything like that recently.

Danny Boy and the Skins were going to pull all the Washington Post Media credentials if Post sport columnist didn't stop being critical. It is a joke how media runs like little girls the days. If the Post can be pushed around in DC, do you think the KC paper wouldn't run and hide if Chefs try something similar. I expect Hunt was to much of gentleman to act like an ass to the media, who can say about the new ownership. Look at how NFL is treating local media on the field and clips of the showing the players and the game

I don't know. I think the limiting the video clips thing is about money and not ripping on media. The 24 hour limit is for non-NFL contracted media sites only so for CBS 4 for example, it doesn't apply since they have a deal with the Broncos. That deal costs a lot of money, but by limiting the other non-NFL news source's access to footage it increases the value of that exclusivity contract that other sources do have. Next time they will be able to ask for more because of what the contract means in terms of coverage over other media outlets.

And Dan Snyder is a moron anyway. He never actually did it and I suspect a law suit would come into place should they choose to. The media in Denver is pretty favorable toward Shanahan and I think giving them liberal access is part of that. He is one of the few coaches that likes to let his players get miked up and generally doesn't mind the cameras. I think going hostile on the media will only reflect poorly on your organization and will encourage greater criticism.

McINTOSH HURT
The Chiefs had hoped that left tackle Damion McIntosh would help shore up an offensive line that has been depleted by the retirements of Willie Roaf and Will Shields.
The plan was unfolding nicely . . . until McIntosh got hurt.
On Monday, McIntosh suffered a right knee sprain (http://www.kansascity.com/news/breaking_news/story/220795.html), and was taken from the field via a cart. Further tests are to be conducted.
Will Svitek and Kyle "Crazy Joe Davola" Turley are the potential in-house replacements, and the free-agent market is slim.

Hey bob here is SI's take on your boy Croyle so far in camp :-)

"Five Things I Think

1. I think the jury will be out on prospective starting quarterback Brodie Croyle until we see him manage a game under duress. Watched him Saturday in a scrimmage against the Vikes, and he was unimpressive. That and $3.49 will get you a triple grande hazelnut latte.

Also under the photo of Croyle throwing a pass it reads:

OK, so I met Herm.

Nick had to do a podcast segment with him, so we met him in the Chiefs workout facility in an offense. Obviously I like Herm, so Nick introduces me and Herm smiles, I smile and shake his hand and say "I'm a big fan." I forget what Herm said but it was cool.

So we sit down, and Herm says he wants to address something first, about some article some Warpaint guy wrote. He say something about it talking about him being a head coach, and I immediately pipe up and take responsibility.

So I tell Herm "I'm on your side." And he realizes it. He actually said "It's okaaaaaay!" to me! http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/images/smilies/rofl2.gif

Then he goes on to tell me that he was offered a coordinator job SEVEN TIMES while he was with the Bucs, but Dungy wouldn't let him leave. I tell him that's interesting, and we should talk further. But he doesn't want the limelight, he said "just talk to the players."

So he was nice, and didn't take it personally at all. I'm still going to try and get something from him because I KNOW the fans want to know about it. But man it was cool being in the same room, a foot from Herm while he sipped Pepsi, talked about the Chiefs, joked about passing the ball and answered my questions for the podcast. The way Herm is on TV and stuff is just like he is in person. I really like the guy.

So far I've met:

Bob Moore
Pete Moris
Herm Edwards
Carl Peterson
Mitch Holthus
Adam Teicher
Jason King
Jason Whitlock
Rhonda Moss

And I met Carl before the Herm meeting.

He said "Obviously you have your opinions" in regards to my writing, which I thought was funny.

He was nice. I told him I got his letter and called him "Mr. Peterson." He told me to call him Carl. http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/images/smilies/big-grin.gif

He did like the fact that I was out here every day though, taking "copious notes."

I'm going to try and set up an interview since he proposed one via email.

Bob, don't you have an ounce of professionalism or integrity in you? The Dungy thing was obviously off the record, and we all know that you are Clayton Wendler. You are seriously jeopardizing your aspiring journalism career by revealing personal off the record conversations with the team, and even though I think you are a tool, I certainly don't wish that you lose your job. Take some advice and stop posting nonsense like this for all the world to see, you're acting VERY unproffessional.

Seriously? Every Bama fan I've ever spoken to disagrees. Plus I've seen with my own eyes many times that throwing the ball downfield is a strength for Croyle. In fact I'm a little worried because Herm Edwards isn't known for taking shots deep, even when it's his QB's best asset.

That's wild. I've watched him practice several times and while I hate to do it, I'd compare his arm to that of Brett Favre. Looking at him, it's hard to believe. I realize the Chiefs haven't had a gunslinger in a long time, so we don't have much to compare him to but it's not like I haven't seen other QB's throw the ball. He has a whole lot more velocity than any other QB with the Chiefs.

vancejohnson82
08-07-2007, 04:04 PM
maybe it was a scheme thing then....all i know is that he would throw short screens to Prothro and comeback patterns to the rest

senior year they opened it up a bit more early on but again resorted to depending on 15 yard outs and 10 yard comebacks which Croyle threw with great accuracy and precision

perhaps he had the arm strength the whole time...he had two throws i can remember that were good deep balls....one to Prothro against Florida in 2005 and once down the sideline to a reciever i can't remember

the rest of his big plays were great runs by WRs after the catch

The Favre comparison is a bit of a stretch but the way he throws outs and comebacks can bring some glimpses of #4 to mind

just don't start the #7 comparisons

Are you talking about throwing deep - down the field- or the 15-20 yard out pass to opposite side of the field? I think the true sign of strong arm is the out route not going down the field.

I'd say give Croyle this year to work with the team and gel together. IMO he will show how good he really is in his 3rd season.

In camp he's making very accurate throws and making them quickly. That is a good sign IMO

Who said Moss doesn't need to gain weight? I'd say it's a common consensus around here that he needs to gain a few.

You better hope he's not 202. But from the looks of the training camp photo's he's not anywhere above 205. He'll need a few extra pounds of muscle to withstand the punishment he's going to get in the coming years.

Herm told him to gain weight back in January. He was 202 at the end of last season. He said in an interview at the beginning of camp that he weighed in at 212 lbs and is still putting on weight. It's been about 2 weeks later, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's at 215

What's the point? Cutler had an INT for a TD in his first game last year too

What is going to suck for Croyle is he will be playing behind a line that is just plane crap right now. Some of Plummers issues last year were just that but also the way the Defenses schemed him. I could see Croyle getting creamed this year and worse case getting injured. Heck the way our line is playing in camp so far I worry the same for Cutler. The line really does make the QB and the RB.

Ya that's what helped Trent out big time. I am comfortable with the interior line. Welbourne is a natural G. Started in Philly for years, but was traded because he didn't want to be there anymore.
The OT position is what scares me.

I'm just happy that the 2008 Draft is stacked with OT's. Jake Long(Michigan) and Sam Baker(USC) are obvious first rounders, and Barry Richardson(Clemson) will most likely be a mid first rounder and Gosder Cherilus(Boston College) will probably slip in the late first round on his size and rep of BC OL.
So basically that's 4 first round OT's. If KC doesn't take one next year, I think you will see Bob and many other KC fans on suicide watch lol

McIntosh looks like an elite talent, guys, watch out! He shut down Allen (wait a minute Bob, wouldnt that mean Allen sucks if he cant get past some retread?) Shut up, Donk homers!

Even though McIntosh is out, our line is still pwning. Come here to River Falls and tell me that our line sucks. So your backups are stoning Hali, Allen, McBride and Tyler? Shut up, Donk homers!

The wide recievers are raping. The cornerbacks are shutdown. Croyle looks like an all pro, yet every time Jarrad Page is tested deep, he is picking off balls. The offense is rolling, th defense is shutdown. Even though LJ is not here, he is dominating. Look how physical Bowe is, he is getting off the line against Ty Law with ease. Did I mention how good Ty Law looks out there, this is the first time in three years he is playing without pain. Tony Gonzalez looks like he is 25, he is really making the defense his b****. Derrick Johnson is the finest coverage LB I have ever seen.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Bob will face reality in Week 1. All this homerism and then it will be like waking him up by dumping a pitcher of cold water on his face. You are in for a rough time. Reality will soon hit you like a brick wall.

Just the facts, baby.

Brodie Croyle’s stock is dropping. In addition to the awful interception he threw to Michael Bragg today, he had a few passes batted down at the line of scrimmage and threw an ill-advised pass in the two-minute drill over the middle into a crowd. It was easily batted down by linebacker Keyaron Fox. He’s just looking a little more hesitant and late with his release, which might be a side effect of the defense coming together. Damon Huard has looked like the better quarterback recently.

Phobia, I'm very curious about something. Maybe you can help.

I live in Ohio & hear about as much about the Chiefs as I do about Farmers Markets in New Mexico. Not much, obviously. I've always thought of the Raiders as Denver's #1 rival, but I rarely see a Raider fan here at the OrangeMane. Then again, the Kansas City fans can't stay away. Besides splitting the annual series for years and years, why do so many Chief fans frequent this place?

I lurked here for a while before they required registration, then I just wandered around to other sites until I finally registered to see what was going on.

There's a lot of great information here, interrupted constantly with smack talk with Chiefs fans. I don't get it. The rivalry just isn't that intense.

Or is it?

Unlike the big city franchises, Kansas City is just kind of 'there' as far as NFL teams go. Forgetful. That's hard to do when you consider I'm in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Detroit territory.

I guess I'm just wondering if the Chiefs feel they have to strike up a heated rivalry with somebody to feel relevant.

ive been wondering this too, its the same at broncomania, the chiefs constantly coming up with more reasons why they DONT suck. you see very few charger and raider fans at either board, but there is an excess of chiefs fans for some reason. apparently sticking to their teams board isnt enough, they must prove their worthiness to fans of rival teams as well?

Now on to bobo,he seems like he occasionally has good intentions with his football fandom, and every now and again can actually strike up a good debate that is somewhat well thought out...

Then he just forgets his name,(and redelin)loses control, respect and intelligence, completely becomes a spaz and dumps on the posters and this community...

I think people for the most part are completely fed up with his two-faced, homer-boy,bet-weltching,name-calling,attention-whore,troll-seeking,spam-making,twinky-eating,mommas-boy,basement-living,blow-up doll-lovin,starwars stormtrooper-worshipping,lightsabre-stroking(the last 6 are in good fun)hypocritical routine and really would like to see him gone...

In the mean-time the circus act will continue because most people love the clowns, and bobo loves his attention,so he's up for the abuse, and he'll keep commin back for more, thatsa for sure...

Well, I'm 36 with a family and much bigger problems than what my favorite team presents me in the fall. Get her some hair dye, take her to the beach for a week staight, you gotta watch because as soon as you turn your back, the buzzards come swoopin in...I delt with this sorta thing a few times as i had a few babes at the beach in my time, easy solution tanning bed,and then go get yourself some platform shoes, and viola you got your dream girl..

Heh. My first wife was the short athletic brunette with the dark tan. She looked great until she popped out a kid. Then she blew up, got really b****y, and found herself a boyfriend. Good riddance.

This one wouldn't tan with a year on the beach. But she more than makes up for it in other areas.

I already dropped a pic in this thread. The same photographer who does the work for Warpaint did a layout of my wife.

Did they film you taking pictures of players and staff with their back turned to you?

I am glad I do not have HBO.

River Falls is Bobless.

So is it nice to be back home in your parents Basement?

I am sure there is nothing else that can compare in your life to the smell of a musty basement and funky smelling Star Wars sheets...
