I watched that Larry King episode Thursday. It was so sad. I'm glad she's not hurting anymore...

Jeez.....

That should scare the bejeebers out of a lot of people....

Really sad. I remember her enjoying the ill-gotten gains, though. There's money in evangelism is the main message. Elmer Gantry had it right, and Jimmy Baker just played it on a different stage. Tammy was along for the ride?

I know death is a part of life we all know there has been way to many deaths since the eve.

RIP - TFBI imagine she did suffer. My mom died a prolonged, horrible death of colon cancer. I can't believe she (Faye) was bleeding for a year before she decided to see what was wrong with her.

Cancer sucks period. Sorry about your family member.Yes, almost all cancer is terrible but lung and colon cancer are horrible ways to go. BTW thx for condolences, my mother passed some years ago but I was wondering why Faye waited a year of bleeding before being seen by a doctor.

Yep, I also wonder(ed) that. I found out today I have High Blood Pressure. Time to make some serious changes, most notably; quiting drinking/total change in diet. Trying to make lemonade outta lemons.

My grandma did the same thing Faye did, waited too long to get it checked out. Her's was especially heart breaking because at first they operated on her, said they got it all and she would be fine. Few months later it flared up again and killed her within weeks.

One couldn't help but admire her strength, courage, optimism, and desire to speak to millions of Americans on Larry King live at a time when she was so sick. The way she looked on LK was extremely sad and through the entire interview she showed lots of fortitude. Amazing.

My Dad died while taking a nap on his chair. Had his arms folding over the book he was reading and just slipped away. He died much too young but what a great way to go. We should all be so lucky.

Just three years ago, she was joking about Ron Jeremy's wang on that Surreal Life.

Totally agree, Bless her heart, she was very brave to do that interview. Cancer is a horrible way to die and she fought it till the end. RIP TAMMY:angel:

Colon cancer happens to be one of the most preventable and treatable forms of cancer. Follow proper screening guidelines and 95% can be detected and treated while in the early stages. The problem is that most people do not seek screening exams... only help when they have symptoms. By the time you have symptoms (bleeding, obstruction, pain, weight loss, etc.) it is too late. Make sure to have a screening colonscopy at age 50 if you have no symptoms and no family history of colon CA. Get scoped 10 years before the onset of close relatives if you have a family history.

Esophageal, pancreatic, and ovarian cancers are the worst IMO. No practical way to screen... and again by the time you have symptoms it is way too late.

I have to admit my opinion of Tammy Faye changed after watching her on that reality show. No excuses for the televagelism.... but she seemed like a genuinely nice person who regretted her past. May she rest in peace.

Hopefully in the future they will figure out a way to screen some of these cancers, I've heard pancreatic cancer is one of the worst as far as fighting it, like you said usually once diagnosed it's usually too late.

I guess you could put it into perspective. I'd rather have mine "poked at" occasionally vs having an abdominal-perineal resection. Google it.

Rest in peace.

An ex-girlfriend of mine's grandmother passed away from colon cancer.

She too ignored signs - bleeding and not telling anyone.

In her case, she was a long time widower and apparently wanted to go. So she kept her symptoms quiet for as long as possible.

Cant say for certain same issue w/ Tammy Fae, but there has got to be some reason a person would hide symptoms for so long.

Sad to see her on Larry King. But happy her suffering is over.

rip

Fiber is awesome! Does that help prevent polups our anything in the colon?

That is contriversial... reguarding polyps. Most invasive cancers arise from polyps though... and most polyps are easily removed during a colonscopy.

Dietary fiber (or lack thereof) has been proven to lead to diverticular disease of the colon.

I guess since we lived in that region we maybe know more about what they did. Cause if I had to pick...I hope it's a dry heat.

The procedure itself is nothng. I don't even remember it. It's the preperation the day before that's awful. Drinking a solution that helps "clean" your system out.

This is the truth. You won't even remember the procedure. However the GoLytely mechanical bowel prep has four unforgettable stages:

1. Cramps and regular poop
2. Cramps and loose poop
3. Sreaming butt pee
4. Butthole dry-heaves

Theese are highly technical medical terms. Suffice to say, you will dislike the bowel prep.
