A proposal in Colorado that would decimate the foundation for the U.S. Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade abortion ruling by declaring "personhood" for every unborn baby from the moment of conception has passed its second state test.
Officials said the language in the constitutional amendment proposed by Colorado Equal Rights has been given tentative approval by a state board. It was the second review for the proposal under the complicated procedures Colorado demands for initiatives.
Colorado Equal Rights spokesman Mark Meuser told WND that he's confident of ultimate victory.
"We wouldn't be doing it if we didn't think it could happen," he told WND. "History shows if we are able to give our vision to evangelical Christians and Catholics, and show them that vision, they will turn out and this thing will pass."
If the amendment would be approved by voters, the change would take effect at the point the U.S. Supreme Court would overturn Roe vs. Wade, the 1973 opinion that found that the U.S. Constitution's right to privacy provision included a right to abortion.
"We're defining when personhood begins," Meuser said. "In this state, there would be no abortions."
The proposal would read:
Be it Enacted by the People of the State of Colorado: SECTION 1. Article II of the constitution of the state of Colorado is amended BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW SECTION to read: Section 31. Person defined. AS USED IN SECTIONS 3, 6, AND 25 OF ARTICLE II OF THE STATE CONSTITUTION, THE TERMS "PERSON" OR "PERSONS" SHALL INCLUDE ANY HUMAN BEING FROM THE MOMENT OF FERTILIZATION

No kidding - nothing like abortion to rally the troops
sad thing is - if these people really have their way, its not like abortion is going to disappear.
It will just go back underground and we are back in the 1950's with unhygenic coathanger abortions
Yeah - thats better isnt it!?!

I believe in everyone's right to choose, but I am against abortion. I also don't like the way it was decided. Make the right to choose a law. I agree with premise tha tthe law needs to define when a life begins and we can stop with this garbage. The law has already decided when someone can be pronouced dead.

has Colorado already said that if you kill a pregnant woman that you are charged in the baby's death as well?
and if you buy into the coathanger myth, you're already as brainwashed as Planned Parenthood wants you. use your brain, man.

The problem is that it's impossible to say it's not a person. The best pro-choicers can do, given what science has already proven, is that we don't know, which is what the SC has already said. Call me crazy, but if you don't know, what the hell are you doing cutting off its arms, legs, and head?
The 'i'm personally opposed' argument that kerry, pelosi, giuliani, and others use is irrational, IMO. If you're opposed, why? Because you believe it's the murder of a human person. If you're opposed to murdering a person, then to NOT push for the end of it is as repugnant as it gets. It's called hypocrisy.

you got an answer or are you just gonna stand there and roll? if you're gonna make that argument (yes, i know it wasn't you specifically), isn't it reasonable to ask for evidence? without evidence, it's just scare tactics.

?!?
You are the one saying coathanger abortions is mythology. Where is your evidence of that?
When something is 'illegal' it doesnt mean its gone away. All it means its the problem becomes impossible to regulate. And I dont know about you, but that is not progress in my opinion.

LOL
I didn't notice it was an old thread and was wondering where everyone came from. Some names I haven't seen in quite some time.
Perfectly fitting that it was bumped for a freaking political cartoon by LABF when it, in no way, actually pertained to this thread any more than to the gazillion of them that have come along between then and now.

LOL Exactly. LABF once again shows what an idiot he is. Maybe he gets paid for each political cartoon he posts.
