I brought this quesion up in the Vick thread but it'll get buried in no time so I'll ask it again.

If you are one of Vick's teammates, do you stand behind Vick, distance yourself or no comment the situation?

In many situations it is wise to stand behind your teammate, but not in this case. What Vick is accused of is unforgivable and beyond making a mistake. Sure some of these get DUI's, get in a fight, like many other people do, I'm not excusing that bad behavior but to knowingly support something like this and participate for years goes beyond making a mistake.

Like I posted in the Vick thread, this will be a divided locker room. If it were me, I probably distance myself based on what I know today. It's a lose lose situation for Atlanta as long as Vick is there.

I'm sure dogfighting is rampant around the league. He'll be perceived as a victim by most of his teammates (at least the black ones) and they'll support him. He's not a complete dick like Pacman Jones.

Petrino should bench him for the season or try to trade him away, just tank the season so he can get his hands on Bhrom next year.

This is going to cost the Falcons in other ways. Talk about a distraction for Vick. He is also faced with picking up a new offense in the midst of court appearances (his first is opening day of camp), media hype, fan reactions, PETA/humane society demonstrations, and the intimidation of league suspension. Not to mention the worry of jail time. I would think his timing with his receivers will be off. If I were a betting man I would be taking whoever the Falcons play and giving the points. Vick will face angry fans on the road and at home, if in fact he plays.

There are so many odd statements made in this post i dont know where to start.

1. So in your opinion "Black ones" are OK with dog fighting?
2. If training and beating dogs only to bet on them while they rip each other apart doesn't make you a "complete dick"... then what does?

So you are an Atlanta Falcon....Where do you stand?

Outside the stadium in a dog costume.

I'd stand outside of the stadium with a Raven jersey on with Vick's name on the back. Everybody knows outside the Ravens complex it reads murders drug dealers and dog fighters are the kind of character players we want here.

Hadn't you heard? Black people are all the same. They all have cornrows and like to bet on dog fighting.

Oh, and general comment: I don't want to make light of the situation, but it would be pure gold if Atlanta had to go to Cleveland (Dog Pound!) this year to play a game.

I wouldn't say anything publicly but I'd privately express my concerns to the coach and Arthur Blank about the situation. If they kept him, I would finish out my contract and then sign somewhere else as a free agent.

I think the original poster of the 'black ones' comment wasn't being racist but merely not complete in his statement. I've already seen a few commentators saying that opinions on Vick are falling along racial lines. And a poll done in in Atlanta was about 50 50 surprisingly enough (to me at least) So unfortunately it might not be a flip or racist type of comment but one that accurately reflects how opinion is falling on this. On the other hand I also read that Russell Simmons and Sharpton have condemned Vick on this one in a letter to the various advertisers who employ Vick. That one I don't understand, if Sharpton is weighing this and positioning himself on this on the basis of right and wrong rather than on racial lines then I'm afraid, very afraid. That's like one of the signs of the Apocalypse. And I agree with SpringStein's answer.

And to top it off...It's "bring your dog to the game" day.:~ohyah!:

I would distance myself.

If I were an Atlanta Falcon...I would still be who I am, and thats a person who is disgusted by the idea of dogfighting.

I would tell the media in interviews that as much as one should stand by their teammates, there are some situations in life that makes it impossible to do and that this is one of them.

I would have no comment, the same as I would for anything non-football related. Not that you want to, but you could say something incredibly dumb without thinking about it (Clinton Portis). It's better to just not have any comment on it.

You say nothing publically. But privately I would tell him what I think and then some if it's true.
