REPORT DATES: Rookies July 28th, Veterans July 28th
SITE: Paul D. Bowlen Memorial Centre, Englewood, CO
CAMP OBJECTIVES: The Broncos and their demanding fan base will be looking for immediate returns from a revamped offense, one that will not only include second-year-pro Jay Cutler at quarterback but will also have new faces in running back Travis Henry (ex-Titans), wide receiver Brandon Stokley (ex- Colts), and tight end Daniel Graham (ex-Patriots). With the status of veteran wideout Rod Smith (hip) in question, Mike Shanahan is banking on second-year- pro Brandon Marshall, who has battled nagging injuries of his own throughout the spring and early summer, on making a large contribution. Defensively, new coordinator Jim Bates needs to find a pass rush, and rookie ends Jarvis Moss (Florida) and Tim Crowder (Texas) could be a major part of those plans. Conspicuously absent from the linebacking corps will be longtime middle man Al Wilson (released), meaning D.J. Williams will have to make a seamless transition to that spot. The secondary looks to be in good shape, with ex-Lion Dre' Bly now lodged at one corner following the tragic death of Darrent Williams. Prodigal son Todd Sauerbrun is back to do the punting, and Shanahan will expect him to continue kicking at an elite level throughout camp.
PRESEASON SCHEDULE: 8/13 at San Francisco; 8/18 at Dallas; 8/25 vs. Cleveland; 8/30 vs. Arizona
