Has anyone here read “America Alone.” It has been an interesting book, that has admittedly fueled some of my fears. I wanted to get some other’s take on it, and the broader subject. Here are some quotes that I thought were compelling, which deal with the population decline in Europe, and the growing challenges Europeans seem to be having attempting to maintain a multi-cultural, secular society with growing numbers of radical Muslims that don’t identify with the societies in which they now live.

This one is great which deals with attitudes toward America:

All dominate powers are hated – Britain was, and Rome – but they were hated for the right reasons. America is hated for every reason. The fanatical Muslims despise America because it’s all lap-dancing and gay porn; the secular Europeans despise America because it’s all born-again Christians hung up on abortion; the anti-Semites despise America because it is controlled by the Jews. Too Jewish, too Christian, too godless, America is George Orwell’s Room 101: whatever your bugbear you will find it therein; whatever you’re against America is the prime example of it.

Others:

More importantly, Europe will be semi-Islamic in its politico-cultural character within a generation. In the fourteenth century, the Black Death wiped out a third of the continent’s population; in the twenty-first, a larger proportion will disappear – in effect by choice. We are living through a rare moment: the self-extinction of the civilization which, for good or ill, shaped the age we live in.

For stable population – I.e., no growth, no decline … you need a total fertility rate of 2.1 lives births per woman. That’s what America has, give or take. Canada has 1.48, and all-time low…Europe as a whole has 1.38; Japan 1.32; Russia 1.14; Spain 1.1.

Every Western woman in the EU is producing an average of 1.4 children. Every Muslim woman in the same counties is producing 3.5 children.

The global fertility leader, Niger is 7.46; Mali, 7.42; Somalia, 6.76; Afghanistan, 6.69; Yemen, 6.58. Notice what those nations have in common? Starts with an I, ends with a slam. As in: slam dunk.

What’s the Muslim population in Rotterdam? Forty percent. What’s the most popular boy’s name in Belgium? Mohammed. In Amsterdam? Mohammed. In Malmo Sweden? Mohammed. [my own side note it is the second most popular in London.]

Demography doesn’t account for everything, but it accounts for a good 90 percent – including the easy stuff, like why Jacques Chirac wasn’t amenable to Colin Powell’s schmoozing on Iraq: if the population of your cities was 30 percent Muslim, with spectacularly high youth unemployment rates and a bunch of other grievances, would you be so eager to send your troops into an Arab country fighting alongside the Great Satan?
