Lieberman: US will back Israeli strike on Iran

Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Avigdor Lieberman said on Tuesday that he received the tacit blessing of Europe and the United States for an Israeli military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

“If we start military operations against Iran alone, then Europe and the US will support us,” Lieberman told Army Radio following a meeting earlier in the week with NATO and European Union officials.

Lieberman said the Western powers acknowledged the severity of the Iranian nuclear threat to the Jewish state, but said that ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq are “going to prevent the leaders of countries in Europe and America from deciding on the use of force to destroy Iran's nuclear facilities,” even if diplomacy ultimately fails.

The message Lieberman said the NATO and EU officials conveyed to him is that Israel should “prevent the threat herself.”

IF the Iranians are serious about allowing routine inspections of ALL facilities wrt nuclear weapons and their possible manufacturing capabilities, my guess is, the US will attempt to restrain Israel before they attempt to go high order on Iran militarily....dman

You've been asleep, D man.

Some months ago, Iran temporarily suspended its enrichment program -- to allow time for negotiations to find a solution.

Iran offered a permanent suspension in return for a US pledge not to attack. So why did the talks break down? Simple. The US refused to give a security pledge. Iran then restarted its enrichment program.

With Dim Son at the helm, I can't even imagine how Iran would think such a pledge would be worth the paper it was printed on.

This is no surprise or news...the USA always backs the Izzys, whether they're right or wrong, in everything they do.....no matter what.

Israel reminds of a renegade little brother. Always wanting to start a fight but only on the condition that everyone knows that his big brother is standing behind him.

Israel should have handled Sadam during Gulf War I and we wouldn't have been in this mess we are in today. They didn't need us to stop the scud attacks. How many more wars are we going to fight for these guys?
