The Duke and the Mastermind in Tahoe

I'm in Lake Tahoe right now and I am going to the Celebrity golf tournament this weekend where the Duke and Mike Shanahan will be here as well. Anyone been to these celeb tournaments? Hopefully I get a pic or two with these legends. Joe Sakic of the Avalanche will be there as well, met him a couple years back, nice guy.

I don't see Lynch on the list, but Herm Edwards will be there too, so that sucks. I'll probably be that guy in Happy Gilmore yelling "ya jackass!" to Herm Edwards.:giggle:

Lynch actually said it about Shanny.

When Lynch was asked by a reporter the other day why he thought Shanny let everyone out of minicamp a day early, Lynch said that Shanny was playing in a golf tourney and wanted to get in a practice round before-hand.

well if you go look at the video of the first day of mini camp shanny said that about lynch too, at the end shanny said he's been in the leage 15 years so when the guy wants something you gotta give it to them, and instead of going bowling on the third day of mini camp shanny said they went that night

OK first off let me say if you have a chance to go to Lake Tahoe during the summer, book it around the celebrity tourney here, its fun and weather is beautiful, it was like 75-80 degrees tops.I think next years is during July 8-13 2008 according to the program I got. So anyway here is my report on the day.


I get to the gate to buy a ticket and they say no memorabilia, cameras, cell phones, fanny packs or backpacks etc. I brought my treo that has a camera (pics came out like crap because of sun). Walk down to see who is teeing off and they have two holes they tee off from, the first and tenth hole, they are right next to each other. I arrived at 9:15 and missed Mike Shanahan teeing off but I was able to watch Tony Romo, Carson Palmer, Jerry Rice tee off. Then finally after awhile it was John Elway, Mario Lemieux (The second greatest NHL player ever) and Brett Hull. After they teed off I walked up to Elway and said whats up john and he said just trying to golf. I was like gee really?haha. So then I watched the rest of the celebs tee off and then Jack Wagner was done teeing off and he walked by and said Hey, where is Heather? He laughed, then I get run over by a bunch of 40 year old women...jeezus.

So I tried to find out where Mike Shanahan was playing and caught up with him at the 3rd hole and he was playing with Lucas Black (The Friday Nights movie QB) and Bode Miller. Now I might have blown it but I think Mike Shanahan had his daughter with him who looked smokin' hot but I didn't ask or anything, probably was since she was wearing a VIP card, ****. So follow Shanny around for a couple holes and lets just say he better not quit his day job for golfing, he has a weird swing. Then walked over to another hole, and I ran into Ray Allen and asked him about the trade with the Celtics, he says he is pretty excited and wants to get back to the playoffs etc etc. Watched Don Cheadle and he was having fun with his group of Lou Holtz, and Brandi Chastain. The best group by far was the group of Charles Barkley, Kevin Nealon, and Cheech Marin. Nealon and Chuck were always talking trash to each other. I asked Chuck's caddy why Barkley isn't putting and he said he lost balls and gave up on the hole and that he hasn't putted yet and that was the 3rd hole. So Nealon misses a putt badly and Barkley was like wow that was the worst put ever. Nealon fires back says, yeah lets see you putt Charles and we can compare. Though I have to say though that Chuck was really nice and played with the crowd, gave a couple little kids autographs though autographs were not allowed. The real a-holes were Jordan but he had such a huge crowd following him, at one point, I don't know if it was on TV or not, but some kid walked up to him with a ball and asked for an autograph and he took the ball and walked away and threw it back with no autograph. Ben Roethlisberger was always whiney and the day before he asked for more balls than what was allocated to the rest of the stars. There was a lot of celebs and athletes everywhere you walked so it was definitely fun and weather was great.

What's funny is that Barkley finished dead last behind Brandy Chastine and Cheech Marion! Hilarious!

haha doesn't barkley have thid werid funny swing, he says its like a diease or something. Yah jordan taking the ball from the kid and giving it back made it on ESPN

I remember last year and watching Barkley and his F-ed up swing. Its comical. But poor Shanahan wasnt a whole lot better, he has a totaly unnatural swing, but it looks like its working for him because he didnt play that bad this year from what I've read.
Ya John was a scratch golfer not too long ago. I think priorities took over and boy is she Hot !

I went in 2000. I had gone to SB XXXII, but at the tourney was the closest I've been to Elway and I have to admit I about fainted. The guy is my all time sports idol. Speaking of yelling, I kept wanting to yell to Michael Jordan, "hey Mike, Elway's better than you in golf and baseball, and pretty damn good at basketball too." Don't know why, maybe because of the top athletes of the century thing.

Dan Quayle at this tourney??? Hope he can keep score better than he can spell.

Oh I wish you had said that to MJ. That guy has remained so competitive... He used to vacation in Aspen, and he would enrgetically seek out some local who had beat him in pool on a previous trip for a rematch. So a taunt like that one is perfect.
Dude left a swath of slain white chicks in his wake too. "After we hooked up, he just flipped on Sportscenter in the hotel and totally ignored me until I left." Just a regular guy after all.
