View Full Version : HBO and NFL Films have chosen Kansas City for this year's "Hard Knocks"

Yup ... the Chefs. 700 hours of film on and off the field from Day 1 of training camp to opening weekend.

I was wondering why they would choose the lowly Chefs, until Steve Sabol explained:
"We wanted to profile a franchise in transition (read that: decline) this year, where most of the good players they've relied on are gone and competition to replace them is fierce."

Bronx33

Sabol is losing his marbles why would he pick the creampuff cheaps? that's like picking a womans basketball team for a NBA slam dunk competiton.

So we get to see LJ pout and cry about being disrespected and not being able to relate to all his white coaches. Let me tell you that is gripping stuff there. If they really wanted a crap team they should have picked Arizona at least they have an influx of young talent.

Hali - Nothing special.
Pollard - Hasn't really impressed me from what I saw.
Allen - Seems to be on his way out of KC, suspended for first 4 games.
Johnson (on offense AND defense) - D.Johnson is good, L. Johnson will probably be gone next year and/or broken down, assuming he doesn't hold out this year.
Page - Who?
Croyle - Only TD pass was to the other team.
Bowe - Talented, but KC's record of drafting WRs is very bad at best.

Any questions?

Any questions?
Hali? Nothing special?

Forced six fumbles in 2006, the most by a rookie in Kansas City history … Was the recipient of the Chiefs prestigious Mack Lee Hill Award, an honor bestowed on Kansas City’s top rookie or first-year player … His 8.0 sacks were the third-most by a rookie in team history … Stepped into the starting lineup for the season opener vs. Cincinnati (9/10/06) as a rookie and started all 16 games … Became the first rookie defensive end in Chiefs history to start all 16 games since ‘78 … Compiled 65 tackles (55 solo), 8.0 sacks (-48.0 yards), an interception, six forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four QB pressures during his inaugural NFL campaign … Has also started one playoff game, recording five tackles (four solo)

Pollard saw limited work at safety and played well when he did play. He also dominated on special teams. 15 special teams tackles, two blocked punts, one of which he recovered in the end zone for a TD and a forced fumble on special teams. Always the guy making the big hit. He will be our leading candidate to fill a safety position.

Allen has a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and will be a Chief. Not to mention being one of the better DEs in this league.

Page? I am sure you don't know who Page is. You don't have many opinions of your own...you spew out other people's thoughts and when you are called on it you talk about you have a friend that knows a lot about football and he agrees with you. Or you just tell someone they don't have good opinions with no basis for that. Let me tell you about Page. If you don't know about him the Raiders do. He sealed a victory over Oakland (an 8th straight victory) with an INT in the endzone. Even with limited time the guy has 4 interceptions. All of which were in the red zone. He is also slated to start at safety this coming season.

Croyle? We shall see. You people think he doesn't know how to tie his own shoes. That is fine with me. He played well on a questionable team at big time football school. He knows how to handle pressure. Lots of things to see from Croyle.

Bowe. I look forward to what Bowe can bring to this offense. He will be a reliable large target for a young QB.

Sounds alot like a poor mans Sam Brandon. Maybe one day he'll be good enough to shut down the best TEs in the game, like Brandon does. Until then, he's a backup and a ST player.

Allen has a contract with the Kansas City Chiefs and will be a Chief. Not to mention being one of the better DEs in this league.

He's also a drunk, POS scumbag who has had 2 DUI and could have killed innocent people. And unless I missed something, his contract is expiring and he's publicly stated how unhappy he is with the situation. Also, don't forget you will be without him for 1/4 of the season.

Allen should be in county jail, not on the football field.

Page? I am sure you don't know who Page is. You don't have many opinions of your own...you spew out other people's thoughts and when you are called on it you talk about you have a friend that knows a lot about football and he agrees with you. Why should I validate my opinions to people like you and Bob? You are an OK guy, but you really haven't shown to be anything of a great football analysis guy. No offense to you, but I'll save my validation for people who can carry on a legitimate conversation about the game.

Page? So he made the pick against the Raiders, one of the worst offenses in football? Cool. I'll give him the interceptions, but I sure don't recall seeing his number much in the Chiefs games I saw.

Croyle? We shall see. You people think he doesn't know how to tie his own shoes. That is fine with me. He played well on a questionable team at big time football school. He knows how to handle pressure. Lots of things to see from Croyle.

What has Croyle done to give you confidence? His performance last season was absolutely a joke. Physically, he's like a less mobile and durable Jake Plummer with a comparable arm.

Bowe. I look forward to what Bowe can bring to this offense. He will be a reliable large target for a young QB.

Bowe is a great prospect, but so was Sylvester Morris and some of the other WRs you've drafted that have done nothing.

Tamba did a great job last year for a rookie. 8 sacks, 5.5 FF's and an INT with an injury..aiming to get around 10-12 sacks this year..

And Cutler's wasn't a joke? That was Brodie's first ever NFL action. I remember seeing Cutler being pulled down by a Seahawk at home and just lofting the ball straight in the air for an INT. Those are what young QB's look like.
And your comparison of Brodie to Plummer is laughable. Plummer is more mobile, but Croyle has a very strong arm and something Plummer never had..confidence.

Bowe is a great prospect, but so was Sylvester Morris and some of the other WRs you've drafted that have done nothing.

Who care's who KC drafted in the past? That was with a different coach. Herm has shown he can draft WR's. He drafted Santana Moss and Jerricho Cotchery in NY.

Oh and Morris had a fairly good rookie year and you forget that Joe Horn was drafted by KC.

I'm not saying these guys are all stars. They are young players who helped our defense become a lot better last year and should be even better this year.

None of the players in Denver have to prove themselves this year like Allen does since he has been in trouble and wanted a new contract. The point is that it is ignorant to call Allen a POS who should be in jail just because he is on a rival team. Not at all the same. Marshall's charges were dropped before they even got started. Kircus' situation has yet to be played out. Allen was drunk because they tested him. He's been drunk twice. Two convictions one player and dropped charges on another are hardly comparable. Try again.

Good for Marshall. However, Kircus has a restraining order and second degree assault to deal with.
