The whole thing sounds odd. Him reportedly placing Bibles beside his dead family's bodies was a very out-of-character occurence. A close friend or collegue reportedly had this to say: “Chris hated religion. He didn't believe in it. I cannot comprehend him putting bibles by the bodies. I am shocked.”
Then, in the same article, it also says: "(Note: We have been contacted by other friends of Benoit who say he had recently become a religious person)."

But I do like your mention of the acronym "B.I.B.L.E." ... the Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. That song (by Killah Priest) is a great, great hip-hop song. I recommend anyone listen to it.

In my opinion religion is a blight on humanity.
In my opinion religion is a blight on humanity.
I disagree - it isn't religion that's the problem, it's what people do in the name of religion.

Then why do people do things in the name of religion?

Then why do people do things in the name of religion?
Same reason people do things for a flag, an ideal, etc.

The Bible was never and is not now an instruction manual. To make it one is an insult to the inspired writers and the One who put it together.

So... you aren't supposed to follow it, and it doesn't give directions on how you should live your life if you choose the christian way?

what the bible is, or isn't can vary as much as the total number of human beings on the earth. Purely a personal and very private belief from where I sit. For those who believe the same, you have a religion. To denegrate anyone for not believing specifically the way a religion teaches, is a hostile action from where I sit. God and the bible are personal and private, to each his own when dealing with the man upstairs......dman

Guess that proves he was a Christian then. Uhh
In my opinion religion is a blight on humanity.
You have the right to feel that way obviously. I think in this case steriod use is the "blight."
Then why do people do things in the name of religion?
As you can guess, people do perform wicked acts in the name of: religion, thier nation, thier freaking soccer team, or an abusive parent. One should usually seperate acts of what they did and ask whether the actions are an acurate reflection of the behavior encouraged by that faith, or soccer team. In this sad case he went wacko most likly because he was taking too many steriods, not becuase he was watching the 700 club. (Although admittedly, if I had to watch that programming for hours something might snap within me.) :D
I think it is easy to say that many awful things have been done in the "name" of religion, and if those faiths openly teach violence than that may be the root cause. There is likwise have been many who have influenced by thier faith to do good to others. I hope that at least on rare occasions you may have seen that.
Mother Theresa was influenced in part by her organized religion, but more importantly by Diety, Gandhi likewise. If mentally ill folks say that God speaks to them to do evil it doesnt mean that God is speaking to them, or even the tenets of thier faith, it means that the chemicals of thier brain are screwed up.
Conextually, we should also understand that 9 million died under the influence the former Stalanist government, inwhich "God" was a non factor.
