After watching that play, I just have to say...

DAMN I miss football. Can't wait for this coming season. Opening day is ony my birthday, and it is by far my most anticipated birthday ever. (regardless of the fact that it's my 18th)

I remember watching that play in real time and originally saying to myself....man, he didn't even get one foot in. What was that ref looking at?

In slow mo replay, it looked like a completely different play. Unbelievable catch and toe drag by Marshall.

Great catch. Live I thought it was no good.

I wondered about that play. At what point does he have control? Really wasnt a great pass by Jay, Marshall made a helluva play. Yeah I know, Jay can do no wrong, but he didnt need to throw it that far over to the sidelines, the DB was a million miles away.

I would love to see the Seattle catch and Run again also. It is a debate which one was better.

The savior JC didn't make a great pass there! Repent! The end is near!

Anyways, yeah.

You don't see many rookie wide receivers make that play. Hopefully that is just a small portion of whats to come from the monster Brandon Marshall.

The throw could have been a heck of a lot better but consider all this: the conditions, the fact that he had just caught about a 20 yard pass from Rod, and he had players coming into his face. But your right, a better pass and it is 6.

Anyone else notice the clip at the beginning of the video of players giving props to Darrent after that first quarter pick in the end zone. Going to miss his enthusiasm this season, man he was exciting.

It's a better throw than Carson Palmer could manage that day. I didn't even watch the whole game but I still saw Chad Johnson get overthrown on two easy touchdowns. The Champ Bailey "crap i got burned, i better trip and play it off" routine is REAL believable  . And then Cinci dropped the PAT. I lost a nice pile of cash on that game. If Cinci had won, I would have been the sole winner of our pick em pool at work. I still hate Cincinatti because of that. Carson Palmer owes me $600.

IN - COM - PLEEETE

It hit his hands, feet were dragged. But he brought it into his body to gain control of the ball, and when he did that, he was out of bounds.

I changed my mind, he has his hands on it and the ball stops rotating, then he moved his left hand to brace himself on the slide, forcing him to bring the ball into his body with his right.

I think the SJ could have called it either way in full speed.

Glad you lost the 600. Next year, put 1000 on the Sparkies against Denver.

Geez - that pass was a rocket flick of the wrist. Cutler proabably has twice the power that Jake had. Yeah, it's pretty much a huge difference.

Amazing play by Marshall. I was sure he didn't make the catch... even after they reviewed it... but after watching it a few more times... wow. Great eyes by the SJ there.

Jay was excited that a WR was that open. He let that one get away from him, Marsh made a great grab and stuck the landing.

ZOMG me too! Man I was in rough shape by the time that kick was botched. We were right at that North end zone behind the uprights. The kick shanks, Mile High starts thundering, the ladyfriend looks up with a huge smile on her face and throws herself at me. Couln't even see the south end zone by the end of that game.

Then you didn't watch close enough. Champ was in a zone near the sideline on those plays, or at least one of them. It was Lynch's responsibility.

I thought the key to the ruling was that his right hand never moved, and contralloed the ball against his right shoulder pad all the way down. In fact, he removed his left hand and the ball stayed in place as he fell. Good call ... it all comes down to:
What constitutes "posession," and what part of what it constitutes must occur BEFORE you are out of bounds?

He definitely got both feet down - and his hold on the ball at the instant he had them down did not change (except that he REMOVED his left hand while falling). Reminds me a little bit of the Butch Johnson touchdown against us in SB XII.

You can see the ball rotate as he goes out of bound. As far as I know, it's incomplete.

Rotate does not me not in possession. I think the key to the decision = he never moves his right hand.

He does pull the ball in though, after he's out .... so it probably wasn't an actual catch.

My understanding is that rotation is part of bobbling.
I'm not entirely sure, however.

I remember the same thing. I was like, "that ref is drunk". Then I saw the reeplay, and said "wait a minute".

I see the ball stop completely once it hits his hands, and both feet are at that point in time being dragged. He moves his left hand to brace, and the right hand brings the ball into his chest, but at the time he has both hands on the ball, it stops, and is caught.

Then, he retains possesion of the ball while falling out of bounds, therefore, its a catch.

If he lost it on the way out, it would have been no catch because he would not have retained possesion.

IMO!

With all the personnel moves made this offseason, it is easy to forget that someone like Marshall really has everything to blossom into a hell of a player. I remember when Anthony Pacino started his "let's draft Brandon Marshall" campaign before last years' draft. I think he''l be special and I look forward to Cutler-to-Marshall for about the next 15 years. Wow.

That was on Marshall as both Jay and Shanahan said in a press conference afterward that he was supposed to take his route up into the endzone (obviously as the goal is to score points). Cutler had to throw where he was going. I bet if Young made that play you'd be talking about how awesome a throw that was.
