The actual news is what Garcia said.

Bucs will keep roster spot open for Plummer

Published Tue Jun 19 1:39:00 p.m. ET 2007

(Rotoworld) Jon Gruden said they will keep a roster spot open for Jake Plummer for a little while longer. Impact: Plummer seems set on retiring and isn't at Bucs minicamp. Jeff Garcia wouldn't worry about it if Plummer showed. "That's fine. If he wants to come, he can come and sit on the bench with the others."

Plummer's too scared to try and compete with the likes of Garcia... He wanted the easy street where Kubiak just handed him a job.

TJ is right, gasoline or no gasoline.

I had a thread here not too long ago pointing out Plummer has never competed for a starting job .... ever. Until Cutler. He was promoted to Sun Devils starter as a freshman and was never challenged. A 2nd round pick and huge fan favorite with the Cardinals, he became the starter halfway through his rookie season when Kent Graham was injured.

It's all Al Davis' fault .... if he had done his job, and aggressively traded for Matt Schaub (he couldda beat out the Texans and then drafted Calvin Johnson), THEN Jake might've had the Texans' job gift-wrapped for him.

interesting

but, Plummer was given the Job in 2006 as well.....IMO Shanny had to make the move because Plummer sucked so bad, not because Cutler was going be any better.

taco once again proving that it was he, and not plummer supporters, that had (i guess in his case "has") the obsession.

Why do we care what Gruden, Garcia or Plummer says or does?

Other than Taco's obsession with him just like with Griese.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Garcia isn't half the QB that Jake is. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either delusional, on crack, or is stroking his internet machismo by indulging in Jake-bashing.

When the Bucs O-line protection breaks down, Garcia will be counting the clouds in the south Florida sky.

Jake is a lot more mobile than Garcia thats for sure. But i did like Jeff's play last year when Mcnabb went down. He showed great leadership and flashes of the old days in San Fran.

But if im the bucs, im sucking of Jakes snake to come in and compete for the starting job.

Taco's little pee-pee can't get any blood flow since Plummer retired. He feels necessary to take shots at someone who has had far more success in life than he has. Pitiful.

We care because it involves a possible 4th round pick.

Before you disparage its value, consider that if we had one this year, we wouldnt have to sacrifice next year's third plus this year's 6th and 7th for Marcus Thomas.

It's important. The Bucs need to start the process of recouping the millions of bonus money due as a way to force him to at least "report". I dont have any ill will toward the guy, he does not owe us anything, just as we owe him nothing, but we need to look after our interests. I hope TB starts to use the leverage that it has.

I didn't mind Jake at QB, and at this point in their careers I don't think Garcia is much better.

But if you are talking about Jeff when he was playing in San Fran? Well, the only thing Jake ever did better than a healthy, younger Garcia, was maybe left handed passes.
