I saw it on Friday, it was by far a HUGE improvement on the first film. I was seriously having doubts about this one as well. The first film was panned for being to "kid friendly" despite it's PG-13 rating. This film was not pre-screened for anyone and they witheld the rating (PG)til a week before it came out which I thought as a attempt to hold off internet critiques for another kiddie movie.
For trying to tackle a subject like THE END OF THE EARTH I thought that it would need to be more adult in nature but they managed to pull it off despite a running time of only 1:30 (far too short a time to tell the story).
It was a good movie, of course a few fanboy complanits but to the normal non-comic book reading auidence they will enjoy the film.
I felt sometimes with the scope of what the storyline was about there was just a tad too much humor going on, they mentioned Galactus but very, very poorly translated him to the screen. Alba was much better as Sue than last time but Ion Gufford (however you spell it) still couldn't pull of a convincing Reed Richards for me. Chris Evans and Chiklas were stellar once again. Julien McMahon was the worst casting of a villan, his Dr. Doom is about as scary and meanacing as a Scooby-Doo villian, and his place in the film was forced and not needed.
The Surfer looked amazing, and the voice of Lawerence Fishburn was perfect. They nailed it on the head except for the Surfer's "weakness" and his ability to make the others in the FF switch powers. At one time Johnny becomes the Super Skrull (only the comic guys will know about him). Oh and no Ultimate Nullifier.
I liked Spider-Man 3 but it did have alot of GROAN moments in it, this one didn't even though I felt they missed a few things and could've made a better flick by incorporating some other things as well. B+

lmao! I took my son to it, and my cell phone went off for the 1st time ever in a movie. Oh well, the movie was so lame and kids were talking so it just fit in anyway.
Silver Surfer should get his own movie, rated R, and kill Spider-Man ASAP!!!

I can always tell when a "kiddie" movie was playing in the theatre before the film I am watching cause the seats smell like pee, there is a theatre on the other end of town that is pretty nice and doesn't really cater to kids but it's 18 miles away and instead of kids the "tweeners" have taken it over like a Weight Watchers meeting at a Dunkin Doughnuts. So tons of cell phones going off and everything else that goes along with them.
I know the one closest to me is only going to get worse since they just finished construction of a Chucky Cheese right next to it.

The stuff you´re talking about probably is one of the reasons why I never go to theatre before 10pm anymore.

SPOILERS IN RED
Other then the S.S'er screen time, the movie & it's back and forth "movie science dialouge" bored me to tears.
I Cant decide between the unintresting characters or the bad actors which was worse.
For a big budget Hollywood summer movie to spend the first hour of the movie centering around wedding preperations, or forcing villians into the movie for no apparent reason other then to have them be there (Dr, Doom), to probably the lamest ending of defeating a supervillian I've ever seen, this was just as bad as the first.
The whole time Surfer has the power to blow up Galactus, but doesn't. He doesn't do it for his home planet, he doesn't do it for his loved one, but he TOTALLY does it for Sue Storm's ****ty pep talk about choices? Like maybe he's never ****ing thought of that?

Yep, that it is a great summary right there.
I am gonna finish my screenplay soon that tells the ...nevermind.
I have been a fan of the Sufer since I was a kid.... have every comic appearance he has been in. I was a little disappointed, I felt that if you never known about the sufer, you would not have an idea about what was going on. I was hoping for alot more, but then again I am very critical. Maybe I should have seen FF #1 before seeing this one.

I liked it. It had plenty of laughs and the Surfer looked very cool. It dragged in spots, so it felt long...despite the 90 minute run time. I thought the ending could have been better, but it was entertaining. If I were rating it, it would be somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3 stars.

I saw this movie at a screening at work because well... i felt like napping at work. I slept through the first 35 minutes but then a loud sound woke me up, and i was dissapointingly refreshed. So i watched the next hour and i dont understand how anyone above the age of 10 years old likes this movie. It was just awful, astonishingly dumb, and just incredibly dull. It's insulting in places.

Went to see it with my 5 year old.... The sacrifices us parents have to make sometimes.

I thought it was better than the first, I actually liked it. It was far better than faggy Spiderman 3.

It wasn't bad, a lot better than spider-man 3 I thought, and better than the first one of course. The Surfer was great, Doom sucked.

Doom sucked.
Amen to that. He just wasn't evil enough. He was QUASI-evil...:~ohyah!:
