That is bizarre .... VERY bizarre.
I always heard Pena was paid off ... and growing up, it was common knowledge (maybe mis-knowledge) that large strange groups - perhaps satanists - met and held weird meeting and/or services way out east, past Gun Barrel Road, just a few miles north of I-70.
Isn't that right around where DIA is now?

You should see some of the crazy stuff coming out of google.
This photo shows a floor tile... or something along those lines. The web is loaded with two translations. One is some sort of reference to "Black Sun" and the other is Navaho for "White Mountain", which would seem like a good fit for DIA. DZIT DIT GAii.

Yeah, NORAD has tours available to the public. Of course this facilty was built and kept secret for decades so wouldn't it seem logical that there would be other underground bases that have yet to be disclosed? !Booya!

Well, I have wasted most of the evening reading this stuff. Some interesting quotes....
"So then, according to some there is absolutely no doubt that -- as they did within the underground facilities of Germany -- the 'Nazis' and the 'Greys' are collaborating to this day from underground bases beneath Camp Hero [Montauk Point, Long Island]; Area 51 [Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada]; Dulce [Archuleta Mesa, New Mexico], and a massive underground facility below the Denver International Airport. This latter facility, according to 'inside' sources, is being prepared to be used as the New World Order control-center for America. Aside from the many anomalous stories that have surfaced from the D.I.A., there are bizarre accounts of strange tunnels and seemingly useless equipment at the Airport -- 'useless' that is unless one intends to confine and transport large numbers of people to deep underground concentration camps which are rumored even now to be active and occupied by unfortunate men, women and children who have mysteriously 'disappeared' from outer society."
"There will be a MASTER RACE in charge of all this power -- the ARYAN RACE, augmented by advanced genetics, and bred for superior characteristics. Their target date is the coming second millennium, the year 2000" - Whoops, guess they missed this one.
"I remember hearing, in the 1950s, rumors that Hitler had escaped to a secret Nazi base at the South Pole" - Hope he bundled up

That's a myth. I have managed projects throughout the front Range and Foothills and have encountered the "water table" (not Aquifers) as shallow as 4 feet below the surface. In other instances I have excavated and / or drilled to points 70' below the surface without any indications of water.
These "water tables" fluctuate with the seasons and annual rainfall and run-off amounts.
So, it's not a given, that in Colorado the water tables are "DEEP"!
BTW: one of my current Excavation contractors was also one of the main "dirt" contractors during the construction of DIA.

I tripped mushrooms at DIA in Feb of 1995. It was one of the strangest things I've ever experienced. That airport has a lot of weird stuff going on. We must have spent about 4 hours there(about 6-10pm or so), riding the trains back and forth, exploring the terminal and concourses, meeting some really strange texans. The place was pretty much empty too.

DIA was dirty as hell - politics wise.
It cost over $6 billion dollars, over twice the allotted budget of $3 bill.
The land that was bought was mainly owned by Pena's father in law.
Politicians took this 'inside information' and bought up all the land in the area extremely cheaply - knowing that they'd get a major thoroughfare built to the airport - and making the land worth quite a bit. Thus E-470, and others were born.
Denver was crooked as hell at the time. Knowing all the BS that airport went through leads me to believe that they either screwed up HUGE, or there's something else going on there. How deep does the rabbit hole go?
:)
At the very least, a bunch of crooked bastards made MILLIONS.

One interesting tidbit:
"it could be possible that they have been privy to information that not many of us have been for a long long time about the chaos involving Earth changes that is coming. It is my understanding that England is not going to make it through the changes, so they set up a whole new Empire over here. That goes back to some of the things we discussed before, about lands being bought up in Colorado."
One thing that I thought was weird is the United Arab Emirates bought a HUUUUGE stretch of land basically between Belleview, along I-25, all the way to Meridius - in the Dry Creek / C-470 area.
I thought that was weird - because it was such a huge, important space in Denver.
WE'RE GONNA BE THE COAST, BABY. NO MORE RAIDERS FANS.

.
Do you have a credible source for that? I know lots of land owners in that area, including myself, and have never heard anything like that.
There are all sorts of rumors about the building of DIA - some true, many not. One fact though is that it was only going to be built on land owned by the City and County of Denver, because it is a very profitable venture for the city and they were not going to share it with any other municipality.

has this been posted?
1. The conspiracy theories are true. All of them.
Just kidding. Conspiracy theories have abounded since the airport’s beginning, and there’s enough of it in popular conversation and online to make you dizzy: Nazis, alien slave labor camps, freemasons, underground cities, UFO homing devices, the New World Order, even, on one or two websites, the Queen of England.
Granted, there are Masonic symbols on the time capsule, but the reference to the New World Airport Commission, according to DIA spokesman Steve Snyder, has nothing to do with the New World Order. “All they did was get together to plan and finance the events surrounding the opening of the airport,” Snyder said. “They do have underground tunnels here, and people let their imaginations go wild.”
I’ll admit that, with a little imagination, DIA’s airfield and terminal layout resembles the four arms of a swastika, but officials say that the uber-effective runway design allows for three simultaneous landings, even in poor weather, and has contributed to the airport’s reputation as the least-delayed airport in the nation for four years in a row (never mind the 2006 Christmas blizzard).
Yeah, but what about the 85-square-mile subterranean airport beneath DIA? “How can you have an underground runway?” Snyder asks. I’ve been wondering the same thing.
and also on the crappy art....
5. Art really is subjective.
Ever wondered why the same incessant music has been playing in the walkway between the Jeppesen Terminal and Concourse A for 10 years? You know, the tribal chanting and whatnot? Because it’s auditory art. It’s likely to play its infinite loop for another 10 years, maybe longer, so get used to it.
DIA has the largest collection of public art in Colorado; the airport is filled with sculptures and mosaics and murals for the enjoyment of travelers willing to pause in their mid-layover rush.
There’s a beautiful indoor garden in the middle of Concourse C, and in the center of both the east and west baggage claims, poised in open suitcases, are twin gargoyles. Like all gargoyles, DIA’s (christened Mike and Amy by the staff) frighten off evil spirits with their grotesque features.
Some of the art hasn’t been without controversy: reactions to Leo Tanguma’s mural, The Children of the World Dream of Peace, which shows bodies in caskets, cities in flames and soldiers in gas masks, have been quite mixed. Some people see it as a warning against environmental self-destruction; some people think it’s sick and inappropriate.
And in case you were wondering, the propellers in the train tunnels are an art display called a Kinetic Light Air Curtain. They don’t harness the wind of the passing trains for energy — they just look pretty when they reflect the light.

I like the props in the train tunnels more than the dead baby mural.
Over all though they did DIA right. It is sweet compared to the sprawl at Ohare. It can take 15 min to taxi at Ohare & then you are queued up to take off or wait for terminal gate. Nothing more frustrating than flying over the lake in holding pattern then having to taxi, then wait 15-30 min for them to open the gate.

Agree - As someone who travels quite a bit for work, I can't think of a major airport that works better.Boston, NYC, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, St Louis, Chicago, LA, SF and Seattle all pale by comparison in terms of ease of use. The only other I would consider as close to as good is Charlotte.

I'm easily amused also, I guess. We used to love to go to DIA and ride the trains back and forth and just wander the concourses and main terminal. We liked to go to the gates and watch the planes come in and people watch. We were bored, I guess. That was back before 9-11 when there was no security barriers.

God - this took forever to find. It's a 3+ mile stretch, and multiple buildings. It was also much bigger than this.

A venture between Denver Tech Center, its parent company, Shea Properties and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. sold a portfolio of three Denver-area office buildings totaling $102.5 million. In addition, the venture sold the land adjacent to one of the properties, Ptarmigan Place, for $4 million to Fairfield Residential, which plans to develop a 220-unit high-rise apartment community on the parcel. The portfolio consists of Ptarmigan Place, Hudson's Bay Centre, both in downtown Denver, and Meridian 1 in Douglas County. The buildings have a total of 731,636 square feet. Titan Investments of Denver, Chicago-based Hamilton Partners, and Dubai Investment Group of the United Arab Emirates, purchased the properties. The buildings were not actively for sale, but brokers at Cushman & Wakefield's Denver office brought them the buyers. "

One thing that I thought was weird is the United Arab Emirates bought a HUUUUGE stretch of land basically between Belleview, along I-25, all the way to Meridius - in the Dry Creek / C-470 area.
I thought that was weird - because it was such a huge, important space in Denver."
What they bought was a partial interest in three buildings (two inside Denver city limits and one in Meridian) and a little swamp land next to one where they plan to build som condos. Titan is the Genreal Partner and basically just borrowed money from Dubai. That's not the UEA buying a huge chunk of land stretching from Belleview to Meridian. I know the Meridian building well. It is terribly designed, with huge amounts of wasted space and terrible access.

We just completed three projects for the "Meridian Village" which was originally owned and financed by a company from the UAE. The projects are being turned over to the Meridian water district for their use. It's all part of the master project presently under construction south of Lincoln Ave right off of what was West parker road. These properties were then sold the Shea homes group who has now sold portions to Richmond and another home builder.
