Al Gore lobbied band to play Live Earth By ERIK SCHELZIG, Associated Press Writer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - If you saw the Red Hot Chili Peppers whispering to Al Gore when they accepted their Grammy Award for best rock album in February, that's the moment they committed to playing Live Earth.

Gore said he met with band members for more than an hour before this year's televised awards show, trying to persuade them to perform at one of the concerts.
While receptive to the idea, they weren't sure they could fit the July 7 concert into their schedule, Gore said Friday.
"I was pushing and pushing them that no matter how difficult it was, that it was important," he said.
The former vice president, who lost the 2000 presidential election to George Bush despite winning the popular vote, is promoting the Live Earth concerts to raise climate change awareness.
Gore, who presented the Grammy for the best rock album with Queen Latifah, said that amid their celebration for winning the award for "Stadium Arcadium," band members "came over to me on stage and whispered in my ear: `We're in.'"
"That was the greatest place to get a confirmation that I've had yet," he said.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers are among the headliners for the London concert. Other shows are slated for New York; Tokyo; Shanghai, China; Johannesburg, South Africa; Sydney, Australia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Hamburg, Germany; and Istanbul, Turkey.
Organizers have also promised an event in Antarctica.

2. Gore to Run in '08 if He Wins Nobel
Former Vice President Al Gore will join the 2008 presidential race if he wins the Nobel Peace Prize in October, Democratic Party players tell NewsMax.
Gore has been nominated for the Peace Prize for his efforts to draw attention to the dangers of global warming.
Party insiders believe that a Gore campaign launched as late as October will still have enough time to raise money and challenge front-runners Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and John Edwards. They point to Newt Gingrich, who has said he won't announce whether he will seek the GOP nomination until Nov. 6.
The view from across the pond is that Gore could actually benefit by waiting to join the race. Britain's Daily Telegraph, in an article headlined "Al waits in the wings as Hillary and Barack battle it out," notes this about the current campaigners: "All the efforts of all these candidates might be for naught. Fred Thompson, on the Republican side, and Al Gore, on the Democratic side, have been watching in amusement . . .
"Al Gore tours the U.S. promoting his new book . . . and his apocalyptic movie, in the process gathering the names of thousands of potential volunteers and campaign donors."

Gee, i seem to recall this hypocrite and his wife leading the PMRC into congressional hearings about the decency of rock lyrics in the 80's. You guys need to think, not drink Gore's kool aid. The guy's a flip flopper who is willing to rely on bad science, pander to causes that are a joke, and to tell everyone to change theire lifestyles while he still arrives at galas in limos and uses more energy in his unnecessary mansions than 20 of us put together in our modest shacks. He's a fraud, get a clue.

As opposed to the good science that comes from the oil and coal companies?
Get a clue, even W has jumped on the Global Warming bandwagon.

I don't get the hypocrisy issue. Gore already buys the maximum amount of green energy that TVA will allow. It's not Gore's fault that TVA doesn't produce more green energy, and he's obviously trying to get more. Everyone in America has the right to the biggest house they want and can afford. No one bitches about Bill Gates' house. One can disagree with his politics, and I certainly did in 2000 because he'd totally sold out to the affirmitive action crowd and donna brazille, but in retrospect ... he didn't invade a country because "he could and wanted to see what it felt like."

LOL. I guess the criticism 'gores" me because I really do have about 1000sq feet more than we use, and we're fixing to add a sun room (FOR A CAT), and I really would not mind moving for a house closer to 4000sq feet just to house all of Mrs Dog's ****, and let me have my den/office back, so long as the front yard was much smaller with no grass, and there was a pool in back.
Our electric bill is bad in the summer, but it's the water/sewer that really goes up as we just try to keep our shrubs and lawn alive. There's gotta be a way of generated green electricity even here in Miss .... where there's no breeze and no water falls.
