4. Denver Broncos — Denver picked up yet another weapon for their struggling defensive line by signing defensive tackle and all-around clog in the middle Sam Adams earlier this week. Adams joins a revamped line that has already added three draft picks in Jarvis Moss, Tim Crowder, and Marcus Thomas. In comes Travis Henry as well. A 1,500-yard rusher with Tennessee last season, Henry comes to Denver with a Pro Bowl-caliber 2006 season under his belt. But is that really enough to propel Denver to the fourth spot? A team that didn't even make the playoffs last year? No, not quite. It's the development of Jay Cutler that does the job. I see the second-year man out of Vanderbilt having a breakout season in 2007; the kind that puts him in the league's "superstar" discussion. Cutler really came on toward the end of last season. And with Jake Plummer gone, it's fully his team. Look for a Pro Bowl season, and quite possibly, an MVP year.

That's great but Let's start with a 2-1 int ratio and 60% completions. Just do your job and then if you can do that, you can add more to the plate.

SoCal and I have been talking (by the way if you're reading this - I hope your trip is going well and you're havin' a drink on me) and we started discussing Cutler.

I think Cutler will have a pretty solid season. My conservative estimate would be 3,200 - 20 touchdowns and around 10 picks. I'd still call that a great season though. He was on pace for 27 touchdowns and 3,000+ yards had he started every game if you wanted to do a "basic" math thing. I think he'll be a guy who can have that 60% and 2-1 TD/INT like Kaylore is stating. 26/13 28/14 - realistic if you ask me.

step away from the computer and call an ambulance! Obviously you have OD on something. Cutler might play good and great once in awhile but MVP? If Cutler is an MVP candidate than Denver will win the AFC West and have homefield advantage.

These power rankings are great and everything, but Henry rushed for 1,200 yards last season. He didn't rush for 1,500.

Yeah I noticed that. It's like he was trying to say that Henry is a 1,500 yard rusher meaning that he is capable of it. Whatever he messed that part up. None of these "experts" are any smarter than any of us... well, most of us anyway.

Ya like the part where he says "MVP" I'm pretty sure he screwed up and left off the "Superbowl" part.

I havent left yet for the trip...leaving on Saturday morning. I expect Jay to complete about 62% of his passes, with about a 2 to 1 TD/INT ratio, perhaps slightly less or slightly more for around 3400-3500 yards. He should have a very good sophomore season.

The guy is Gay for Jay ... WAY gay. And Henry had only 1200 yards last year.

Sorry, but as much as I hate the Ravens, there is no way we should be ranked ahead of them. They were 13-3 last year, and will have McGahee and a proven stud QB Steve McNair at the helm from jump street. They did lose Adalius and Mughelli, but they had a very solid draft.

I hate 'em, but ranking Denver ahead of them is nonsense right now.

Cutler seems like sort of a dork. Not very good looking. All of that means he might as well be a gym rat and film session freak ala Peyton Manning. I have visions of a YPA of close to 8 yrds this yr. We are going to be striking deep and powering the football on the ground.

Jay Cutler has a Friend! (http://mydenverobsession.com/2007/06/07/jay-cutler-has-a-friend/)

Well, what do you know…. Jay Cutler has a friend in the mainstream media! Peter Schrager over at FoxSports has gone WAY out on a limb for Cutler in his recent Power Rankings article. Not only does he predict a Pro Bowl appearance for Cutler, he also mentions an MVP award! In fact, he credits Jay Cutler with the rise of the Broncos to fourth on his Power Rankings. I mean he uses the term “Superstar!”
Now for the important question. Why is Peter Schrager saying this and not someone closer to home? Where are the local Denver sports writers and their predictions for our young QB? Do you think any of them would go as far as to predict an MVP for Cutler?
I guess it’s easer to find fault after the fact than to inspire hope for the home

Even Zach can see that the bandwagon is getting full.

As much as Chief fans believe in Brodie Croyle, I really thought it would have been interesting ( I even rooted for it to happen at draft time ) for the Chiefs to have drafted Brady Quinn.

To have a division with Rivers, Cutler, Russell, and Quinn all starting out at basically the same time would have been fascinating to watch.

Which team(s) would be looking for another franchise QB in 3 or 4 years?

What if 2 of them fully came through on their potential and it turned into a Brady-Manning kind of thing, but within the same division?

What if they all turned out to be successes (The worst of the bunch making at least 1 or 2 Pro Bowls) and what kind of division that would have resulted in.

If nothing else, whomever would have ended up with the "bust" of the group would have been open to some long time trash talk.

Instead the Chiefs have only Croyle to offer (Although, Chiefs fans think that its plenty of a contribution) it takes a little bit of luster off of the whole scenario

on a related note, if you are ever bored and would like to have a good laugh, go over to NFL.com and follow it through to their draft history section.
Take it back the 25 years it allows you to do so and with a little bit of browsing you'll end up with a list of about 15 QB's the Chiefs have drafted over the last quarter century ..... there is no other team that is even close to the Chiefs in the competition of futile QB drafting.

they've probably drafted well enough to stock an entire State Farm Insurance branch.

McNair is one of the most overrated players in the NFL. Cutler will be better than McNair this year!

Jay could easily have superstar stats...............if our O'line improves more then last year. Our running yards will be there but we HAVE to pass block a hell of a lot better for Jay to have 3500 yards and 25 TD's.

But that said, the big pass play is finally back in Denver y'all. It's nice to know that any given play you could see a 60 yard (in the air) bomb to Walker. That threat is finally back in our playbook and it's been missed badly.
