John Elway, who retired from the Denver Broncos in 1999, is returning to the field - but in virtual form only.
The New York software company Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. on Wednesday announced its football game All-Pro Football 2K8 with Elway's moves included. In addition, Elway will grace the cover of the game, as will other legendary players Jerry Rice and Barry Sanders.
As Take-Two put it in a statement announcing the news: "Fans will be able to lead the charge with John Elway, the 'Duke of Denver', as the quarterback with the most game winning or tying scoring drives in the 4th quarter. Gamers can call on his unique player attributes to clinch the winning touchdown in a close game."
Elway, who turns 47 later this month, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004. His career highlights include 148 wins and two Super Bowl championships.
All-Pro Football 2K8 is due out this summer. The game is for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation3 consoles.
