View Full Version : Sam Adams on 950 the fan

On right now. I'll transcribe as he talks...
Kaylore
06-04-2007, 06:14 PM
Says that he's excited to be here and really likes the chances to win a Super Bowl here.
Says Bill Johnson was the biggest reason he signed here over anything else.
Says that Johnson really focuses on stopping the run, good stance and good technique in using your hands.
Says last year wasn't a good chance for him to show his skills because he was hurt and he should have had surgery on his knee before going back to play and tried to play hurt every game and that's why his play wasn't very good. Said every game he was in pain but he wanted to stay out there for the fans of Cincy.
Says that the focus of these camps will be on eliminating big plays on offense and creating more plays on defense.
Says he'll play as many downs a game as necessary to win games.
As usual Irv and Joe don't know how to run an interview and asked stupid quesions. Jim Armstrong was the only one asking questions with any substance. Joe tried to talk to him about basketball.

LOL No but I have heard what you're talking about many times. Both he and Joe are really awful at interviews. Irv is always just telling the signees that they made the right choice and if he does ask a question it's something to the affect of "do you like mountain air?" or some such nonsense that tells us nothing. Then Joe asks stupid questions and then rips on them and the organization after they get off the air.

i hate to be mean, but i hope that irv and joe are on the phase-out.
irv is so out of touch - he constantly brings up stories that happened way back in the day - and none are interesting. stories are not bad, if they have substance. he seems to lose his focus mid thought anyway. he never offers anything of substance.
joe at least provides comic relief. not because he is funny - but because he is so stubborn that it is humourous to hear to what length he will go to not admit he's been wrong.
i appreciate that they have tried to infuse the show with some balance in armstrong. i don't mind listening to jim - don't always agree, but he's not bad.

Typical fan suppostion and Logic. CIN has issues all over their Defense and want to get younger and change their scheme this offseason. Letting go an aging run Plugger when you want guys to one gap at the DT position has a lot more to do with it than the drivel you just spewed out. Do you even know the difference? Or are you just another troll with no knowledge of how the game is played?

I agree. They just aren't in touch and don't really care to be. I actually think Joe has become a caricature of himself and his baiting callers with stupid claims like "John Elway was a bad Quarterback" and "Broncos will be lucky to win six games this season" are tired and not even cute anymore.
I actually think Jim was brought in to take over. Irv is a really good guy, so I feel bad as well, but ultimately the station managers need to look at where they're at and where they want to be because the current format is lame.

I used to listen to the Fan when stink and others were on there, Mosier doesn't bother me that much either, but now every show is pathetic. Sandy is the absolute worst sports reporter ever, irv and joe need to retire, Al is the least educated (sorry CU) and articulate radio host ever, he mis pronounces names, confuses things and it more of a hommer than most on this board. The station is pathetic. Glad to hear Sam is well spoken though. Hard not to seem well spoken with those two idiots on the air though.

Are you really as clueless as your posts?? Adams has spent a career occupying blockers, so his tackle stats will always be low for a DT. Here's a thought for you: Read the stats you were so anxious to post, and then look at his tackle totals when he was with the Ravens. He and Goose were the most dominant DT duo, on the best D, in the NFL. He had 23 & 19 tackles each of those two seasons. By your reasoning, he was a bust. Last season he played on a knee that required surgery in the off season, so his totals were down. However, his stats won't mean a thing in Bates' scheme, but you wouldn't know that, would you?? Our hope is he has enough in the tank, at altitude, for one more productive season.

You can look at it in every HOMER view but the truth is he is washed up! The Bengals D was a sieve and he was brought in to clog it up. Their D is horrible and if he had anything left they would have kept him. Hell I hope he starts for you guys because our O-line will run him over!

This is hilarious. SD has a good year and a host of idiots do what they do once every decade:
1)Run to the local Wal Mart to buy Charger Crap from the bargain bin.
2)Check the local paper so they can recognise the current roster.
3)Talk stupid **** to anyone within earshot before the team tanks again.
As someone already said, desperation is getting rid of your entire coaching staff with no one to replace them. Don't worry, you can still go to the beach in San Diego during football season. Just don't bring a radio.

Jezus, not just a troll, but a really stupid troll. I'd give it a pass from not knowing a one gap from a two gap, but Jayzus. Actually, 16 games and 32 tackles wouldn't be bad for a guy who hopefully will only see 30% of the snaps. McKinley's got a lot more than Adams at this point, and they're both fatties to keep the linemen off DJ, while Thomas and Big Money are the guys with the ability to get push.
Seriously though, Norv may not be too bad the first year. He's got no cancer in SD, aside from AJ and the ownership, and he didn't totally screw up Mia until a year passed.

That Bad fellow sure doesn't know anything, does he? The people here recognize that Adams will play maybe a thoird of teh D plays or maybe a few more than a third. He will be part of a rotation that includes a couple of other fellows who can also stop the run up the middle and can take up two blockers each. That leaves the ends to rush and get into the backfield, maybe after the RB, and help clear the way for the LBs. Don't need him to be a every down DT!
Stupid troll. He is going on my ignore list because he is so freaking stupid.....

Who is out of possition on that list?
If I were to use his order (which had he placed them correctly would still be ridiculous) it should have looked like this.
LE Jarvis Moss, Elvis Dumervil, John Engleberger
LT Alvin McKinley, Sam Adams
RT Gerard Warren, Marcus Thomas
RE Ebenezer Ekuban, Tim Crowder
He had the wrong ends on the wrong side and likewise with the tackles.
As I see it, it will look something like this:
LE Kenard Lang, Jarvis Moss, Elvis Dumervil
LT Sam Adams, Alvin McKinley, Antwon Burton
RT Gerard Warren, Marcus Thomas, Demetrin Veal
RE Ebenezer Ekuban, Tim Crowder, Kenny Peterson
Kaylore

It's not that simple. Under tackle and nose tackle aren't the same position and the rush end isn't the same type of player as the strong side end.

It seems like the dissapointment is setting in for mr. Big Bad. 2 years ago, the Chargers were "the best team ever to miss the playoffs." Last year they were the "best team in the NFL" but couldn't win a playoff game. They are absolutely loaded with talent, but can't seem to get it done.
Yes, the Broncos have been rebuilding and aren't satisfied with missing the playoffs. I think the Chargers hype machine will be in full effect this year again. I think the Broncos will go deeper in the playoffs than the Chargers, period.
Big year for Rivers and Cutler, it will be fun to watch them battle.

Well, just as I surmised. You have zero clue how football is played and think matchups are just as easy as A+B=C. You do not have any clue what a run plugger is, you have no scheme savy, and are just another casual fan who thinks they have a clue as to what actually goes on during the games.

Check my join date and check the Chargers record that year. I am not a fair weather fan. I know you guys think that is all there are for Charger fans.
Check your post count against the Chargers record.

What has engle****ingberger ever done to impress you as a role player?
He has impressed me for staying on the roster despite doing absolutely nothing in two years. He had one good game and I can't remember who it was against(maybe Cinncy).

How about this logic? Some bidding war for old fat Sam Adams huh? Hilarious!
Shanahan has a magic touch huh? Brian Griese, Jake Plummer, and Maurice Clarett! Hilarious!
During his tenure in in Denver, Shanahan has won more games than any other coach in the league. That's a magic touch. ^5
You on the other hand, are a first class idiot! Hilarious!
