View Full Version : Current Broncos headed for the Hall...

Alright, discuss....

Current Broncos you think will make it to the Hall of Fame:

Champ Bailey- shoe in

Rod Smith- what do you think? For me personally? No doubt....

Jason Elam- you have to admit, he might have a shot....

Crushaholic

This the Denver Broncos you are discussing. The Hall of Fame will continue to ignore worthy candidates who have played in the Mile High city. The optimist in me hopes Champ will get the nod, but I can't be too sure...

I wonder if playing in thin air takes away from Elam... But still, 61 yards is 61 yards.

All right, I'll be the one to say it:

25-50% chance John Lynch, Tom Nalen

Long shots Rod Smith, Jason Elam

with how players are acting now days, (Vick, Portis, Henry, etc..) Rod Smith will be in the HOF. Even without that I still think he goes to the HOF.

elam wont make it in. The football he kicked 61 yrds is though probably. Rod Smith is an all time great player but won't make HOF. I'd say Champ will make it and maybe even Lynch. Nalen I guess would be a longshot but he's a possibilty.

Rod Smith won't make it, unless he can get healthy and put up a few 1,000 seasons. Stats wise there are a number of players ahead of him that haven't gotten it yet. Rod would have to climb way up the charts to get in.

Now, if Rod had been a starter since his early 20s, he probably would have the numbers. But If I'm remembering right, he didn't become a starter until he was 25.

I don't know what scares me more.....HOF consideration for a kicker....or the fact that two Maners don't even know that the famous Elam kick that tied the record was for 63 yards and not 61 yards...

Agreed with Jason on Rod Smith....long shot at best....he'd have to have at least two more ridiculous seasons like he did in 2000-2001 to be in the running IMO. He is just statistically too far behind guys like Art Monk, who aren't in there....

25-50% chance John Lynch, Tom Nalen

Long shots Rod Smith, Jason Elam

Nailed it.

Retired Broncos:
Sharpe 100%
Zimmerman 50%
Little 5%
Gradishar 5%
Atwater 5%

Retired Broncos:
Sharpe 100%
Zimmerman 50%
Little 5%
Gradishar 5%
Atwater 5%

That sadly seems about right. Zimmerman made two all-decade teams and now the committee is treating him like he made the pro-bowl once and is lucky to make the final 25. Gradishar and Little should be in. However I need to let go of it all and recognize that as long as east-coast media yahoo's are the ones in charge, the hall will continue to be crammed with a bunch of Giants, Cowboys and a few other team's players sprinkled east of the Mississippi.

Jason Elam- you have to admit, he might have a shot....

Not a chance in Hell.

Unless he melts down completely, Champ's in. So's Shanahan. Lynch has got a pretty good chance. Nalen and Rod are long shots.

Out of those 3 Bailey would be the highest prospect but it would be WAY down the road the way things are going for Denver players right now.

I know we're Denver and all, but Rod will get in. I know there are those who have votes and have pull who are firmly behind Smith (which is really all that matters). Unless something very unlikely happens, Champ will get in as well. Lynch would likely get in, but that would be more for his work in Tampa than here. Shanny is a bubbleboy right now, but he'll be here for awhile yet. Nalen and Elam both will have outside chances (that's where the Denver thing will kick in).

I've argued the Art Monk in relation to Rod Smith thing before, but I thought I'd throw it out again.

Art Monk is not a similar situation. Art Monk only led his team in recieving 4 times in 15 seasons. Monk has 91 more catches, but has played 47 more games. Let me repeat that, Art Monk has played 47 more games. Oh yeah and they both have 68 TDs.

Rod has led Denver in Recieving 9 times in 12 seasons. Rod broke 1K receiving 8 times, and in 6 straight seasons. Monk did it 5 times in his career.

and a favorite of mine, Monk drafted Round 1, Rod Drafted N/A

I know there are intangibles to consider, and different eras, but all it takes is a second glance at the numbers to see that Rod has a good resume.

Who is the nominating reporter from Denver? If it's still Woody Paige (regarded as a lazy asshole), maybe no one gets in. That sadly plays a huge role. For him to fail both Gradishar and Zimmerman is a freaking disgrace. Reporters from other cities have gone to much greater lengths to get their guys in.

Attention Broncos Fans:

Do not patronize the Hall of Fame.

They do not want you there for any reason but to admire their favorite players. They dont care about you, or your non-east-coast franchise.

Dont show up there.

Dont spend your money there.

Dont give it any place of prominence.

It is not for you, nor will it ever be.

The end.

Rod is one of the rare Broncos who have seemed to pick up some steam in the national media. He has a chance. Heck, the dude made the pro bowl recently and he wasnt at his best.

Rod has the benefit of coming from undrafted status. He'll gather momentum in the press.

Champ is a 100% lock to get in, as long as he plays at a Pro Bowl level (which is nothing for him) for the next three years
Nalen and Zimmerman (more so) should be locks as well but apparently the "system" will keep out our RBs and OL alike
Sadly, I don't think Rod has a chance....
I can't believe Atwater won't get in but it won't happen

Hixon will have his own wing at Canton

This whole Broncos-in-the-HOF thing just seems like groveling on Bronco fans' part.

It's useless because you will never have your acceptance. It will never be good enough. For every Elway that gets in, there will be a Little, Gradishar, Zimmerman, Wright, Atwater, Dennis Smith, Terrell Davis, Elam, Schlereth, Nalen, Sharpe, Rod Smith, etc, who will be passed over time and time again.

For goodness sake, Micheal Irvin got in in front of TD and Zimmerman this year. MICHAEL IRVIN!

You're kidding me, right? This can't be a statement made in all seriousness. Let's list off some of Randy's accomplishments.

-Seven Time Pro Bowler, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983
-Six Time All-Pro, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1983
-All-Rookie Team, 1974
-1978 Defensive Player of the Year
-Over 2,000 Career Tackles, including multiple 200-tackle seasons.
-20 Interceptions, 4 TDs
-13 Fumble Recoveries, 1 TD
-Led the historic Orange Crush Defense of the 1970s, especially the 1977 Super Bowl season.

You telling me that isn't HOF caliber?

Let's compare him to the last Linebacker to make the hall of fame, Harry Carson.

Carson's accomplishments:
-Nine Time Pro Bowler, 1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987
-11 Interceptions
-14 Fumble Recoveries, 1 TD

He played 3 more seasons than Gradishar.
