I download at apple for $.99. I have never downloaded illegally. To pay $.99 for a song is worth it.

I had that happen to me once. It sucked. So now i have 3 Externals 2 150 Gigs, and 1 250. The 2 150's are full already. I had about 1300 cd's in my own collection to start with and after a year i have now around 4300 albums. Its great for my Djing. Not too mention i love previewing new albums months in advance before i buy them.

just read the instructions. make sure you open the correct ports on your router. turn off your firewall on windows and antivirus program or just open the correct ports.

i hate limewire, too much fake music being shared. not only that, all the stupid spyware that is included in the limewire program.

That's the best argument for LimeWire. You can find anything.

If you're worried about viruses and phonies, first check the file size. If it.s 26.2 KB, it's way too small for a song. Plus, if you place the mouse over the title, it will pop up a Tool Tip that tells you, for example, "Not Related to Doobie Brothers," and also, preview the files after it's 5-10% downloaded. If it's the song, you'll hear it ... if it's not, stop the download.

You actually dont even need limewire or Torrents. There are better places that allow downloads of zip and rar files. All types of music and what not. And you dont have to worry about spyware or viruses and no silly programs to install.

I see, so your talking in terms of Bitrate correct? I can understand that arguement. But when it comes to the types of files i get it does depend on the user who uploaded it to begin with. But most of them rip their stuff at a high biterate which works really well with rare and out of print material. I use the standard 128 because i want to be sure that someone will go and purchase the album if they really like it. I have some rare stuff myself but wont sell for that kind of price because its all underground metal stuff. But its certainly worth it for me. :yayaya:

You can get a membership at Yahoo and such for around $70 a year for unlimited DLs of mp3s (compressed music).

Yea, i would say mine previews are hit or miss when it comes to bitrates. But because they are forums you can discuss and have people re-up them to better bitrates. And although there are some free servers to use to upload/download from i pay 10 bucks a month on one that is commonly used. But i get my moneys worth out of it so im happy. They are fast servers so the wait is less than 12 minutes and its just done by a click of a link. Ive never used the one your talking about so i dont know how complicated it is to use.

Try the Russian site. AllofMp3.com.
Any format you want...including lossless and music is sold by the gigabite. About 10c a song. Not sure about its legality in the states, they claim to meet Russian copyright laws. Whatever that means. :spit:

Beware of a Limewire virus that is disguised as a Java update. If Limewire keeps popping up 15 seconds after you close it as well as every time you start your computer you probably have it.

just a little tip not to get caught....use a laptop and drive around till you find an unsecured wireless network and pull it off of that....a million times harder to trace it back to you that way.

If it's the song, you'll hear it ... if it's not, stop the download.

And, for whatever reason, phony files are very, very rarely in mp3 format. They are almost always wma.

So...

1. Check the file size and see if it matches the size of the other search results for that song
2. Roll the mouse pointer over the title and read the Tool Tip info on that file
3. Most important: Preview the song after its 5%+ doanloaded. If you don't hear music, delete the download.
4. .wma files are far more likely to be trouble than mp3. Choose mp3.

Itunes I don't know why anyone wouldn't DL mp3s (if that's what you want) from a pay service like Yahoo ($70-80 a year) for unlimited DLs.

I use UseNet and have for a lot of years. Safest, Fastest, the finest quality you can find most of the time. plus, no virus/spyware/etc..

Torrents are crawling with BS websites that log your ip address. Way too Dangerous.

Limewire/Bearshare/P2P is just as bad and connection rates are absolutely wretched.

With Comcast as my connection and NewsDemon as my Usenet provider, i am throttled at 6Mbps and 30 Concurrent connections. I download multiple Gigs a day with easy and i rest peacfully knowing it was all done annonymously.

I only download illegally, i have lost/had stolen/scratched/etc.. of CDs and im tired of wasting money. i dont sell anything and i dont share any of my mp3s either.

A pirates life for me...

I back up my files every now & again to DVD-R. My stash is about 2 gigs, so it will all fit on 1 disc.
