So I posted this before and somehow it got deleted so I'll try again. There was a great interview with Bly after practice today that everyone should watch. Every time he speaks he really grows on me and he seems like a great fit.

Bly's is the first one on the list.

He talks about a lot of things like which receivers impress him. Marshall he compares favorably to TO. He also talks about Bates' scheme and how the pieces are coming together. It's definitely worth a look.

And yes, he mentions Hixon or "Hix".

Marshall was called "Little TO" in college.

Could you do a recap? I can't watch it. :(

No problem if you don't want to, of course, but I'd appreciate it. :)

Realplayer is horrible, when will they get rid of that P.O.S.?

I tell you what, I really like Marshall's prospects.

He's one of those guys you look at and think, "I cant believe he went so late...is something wrong with him that we dont know about?" I keep waiting for the bottom to drop out, because he looks good. He looks special. I try not to get my hopes up.

Maybe Med or SoCal can get me more educated on why he slipped so far.

Bly has never played with Marshall and didn't really study him as the Lions never played us last year. If you all recall, last year the rest of the team was singing his praises then as well. I think Marshall is the real deal and is going to be very productive for us as a second receiver this season. He's exactly what we've been missing since Eddie Mac stopped being productive in 2003. He tears it up in practice and if you keep doing that and stay with it, that translates into production on the field. Keep an eye on Marshall.

The thing that catches my eye is that he's a force similar to Randy Moss or someone with a morphology that makes them virtually impossible to defend. He's massive and has a big wing span. Not only that, but he can catch, plant, and turn with a quick hip swivel and the guy is off to the races. He literally just plows through arm tackles and is athletic and instinctive enough to avoid leg tackles. I am astounded that he wasnt a first rounder, because at first glance (albeit a very limited one) he looks like the best WR drafted last season. Colston had a good year, but Marshall looks elite.

Colston is a good example for people to consider when they wonder how certain players fell so far in the draft. Sometimes talent slips through cracks. This is especially true with players from DII schools. This year his teammate Mike Walker didn't go unnoticed.

Yeah, Colston was a DII guy and its understandable how he slipped a bit. The only DII guy Ive ever had any faith in coming out of school was McNair. Marshall is a bit different of a story though. UCF is scouted because of the likelihood of juco transfers and other academically challenged students ending up in a place like that.

This guy can make plays that very few players can make

Marshall was the main reason they went to the bowl game. The guy is amazing and when all said and done, everyone will know him.

During the Bowl Game vs Nevada he has like 200 yards and 3 touchdowns.

I know I always show up when Brandon Marshall or UCF is mentioned, but I watched Marshall's entire career at UCF (I'm an alum). He is amazing. He would always make the tough catches in traffic (as would Mike Walker, who was drafted in the thrid by Jax). If Jax figures out their QB situation, Walker will be a major weapon.

When UCF had Marshall and Walker on the field at the same time, it was amazing. They flat-out tore it up. If there was more talent on UCF's team, they could have gone further the year the played Nevada in the bowl game. Hopefully, UCF will start to play better this season.

I tell you what though, Andre Hall (RB from Univ. South FL) is awesome. We will be surprised by how well he does. He is a big, fast runner who fits our one-cut, downhill running scheme. I am surprised more teams didn't jump on him sooner. I will be watching him closely in the preseason.

Go Broncos!!

Here is a scouting report on Brandon Marshall:

Analysis

Positives: Has a rare-sized frame with very good overall muscle development, strong, thick legs, broad shoulders, long arms, good bubble and adequate body control and flexibility...Has adequate quickness off the line, using his size and hand strength to defeat the jam...Shows good field awareness, doing a nice job of uncovering on the move...Uses his size well to gain separation after the catch...Big target who has the leaping ability and strength to combat defenders for the jump ball...Will extend to make the tough catch in a crowd with no regard for his safety...Has the leg drive to break tackles...Runs with a long stride, but has the body control to make adjustments on the move...Uses his long reach to catch outside the frame and knows how to use his body to shield defenders from the ball.

Negatives: Lacks maturity, demonstrating a Terrell Owens prima donna attitude...Has one off-field issue that needs further review...Lacks good work ethic and struggles with authority, as he does not take well to hard coaching...Takes time building to top speed and when not involved in the play, he will throttle down...Has good power, but does not seem to relish blocking...Can break tackles, but does not have the timed speed or burst to escape in the open...Relies on his size to defeat the jam and will round his cuts in and out of his breaks...More of an H-back type, as he does not have the quickness to stretch the field.

Marshall has an imposing frame, but only adequate quickness. He relies on his size to gain separation, but will round his cuts and does not have the second gear needed to escape. He shows awareness to uncover and the long arm reach to catch outside his frame.

Marshall struggles to sink his hips and separate on his breaks, but is effective when working underneath, providing a big, tough target with no regard for his body in attempts to make the difficult catch. He maintains good concentration on the ball in flight and will fight through the jam, use his body to post up and shade defenders.

Marshall improved his work ethic some in 2005, but still lacks maturity and has too much "con" in him to be considered a team player. Sure, he moved to safety in 2004 to help a depleted unit, but the staff has to push him to perform at times and he does not take well to hard coaching. He has one off-field incident and will need structure and a firm hand to keep him in check.

His playing speed is only adequate and he will throttle down when not involved in the action. Marshall has good strength to dominate as a blocker, but at times it appears that is the last thing he wants to do. He can make the difficult catches, but will not win any foot races in the open. While his size is impressive, much like Auburn's Anthony Mix, it might be better to bulk him up and utilize him as a slot receiver or H-back, as he does not have the explosiveness to be a deep threat at split end.

Basically, it states he had a work ethic problem, prima donna character, and only had 18 starts as a WR. He was downgraded by many as a project WR that would take time to assimilate to the NFL game if he ever did at all. I remember one scout telling me a lot of the BS about his character was just that and anyone who did a real check into it would find out that was a incorrect assessment by someone. His speed and route running were questions as well to play SE.

All I know is that he was awesome from day one of TC last year. I hope he has worked as hard as they have portrayed him this offseason. He has a lot of Physical talent and just needs to get the mental edge to be very productive this year.

It was surprising that Marshall lasted so long in the draft. Toward the end of the drafting process/including combine scouts were starting to talk about him and he started to get some headline. I think the best statement about Marshall" was "he had the skills he just need about 3 years to learn to be NFL WR. Lucky for us he is on the fast track to success.

I guess that's the case with nearly every player in the NFL. It takes work ethic to become Terrell Owens. TO may be a goofball, but he's a hard worker. He is where he is because he busts his butt everyday.

The great ones (see Jerry Rice) and the very good ones (Rod Smith, Hines Ward, Marvin Harrison, etc) are what they are because they work like they wont have a job if they dont.
