Federal agents have busted what they called a major smuggling ring in Arizona, which they believe brought 500 people a week across the border near Sasabe.
Nine suspects were arrested and charged the U.S. Attorney's Office reported. Seven were picked up in Tucson, one in Phoenix and one in Casa Grande. They are charged with conspiring to transport and harbor illegal immigrants, which carries a maximum 10-year prison term and $250,000 fine.
Two of the suspects were linked to an alleged kidnapping and shooting of one of the other suspects, the government said.
The arrests last week culminated a one-year U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Border Patrol investigation.
Investigators seized $150,000 in cash. Typically, illegal immigrants pay $2,000 each for all the arrangements to get them from Mexico to their final U.S. destination, making the alleged ring a $1 million-a-week enterprise.

Why? Clearly protecting our boarders is no longer a concern for this congress and president.

All we need is a law saying that companies that hire illegal aliens get a 10 thousand dollar fine for each illegal they hire. You do that and there won't be a problem anymore.

The Congress - both sides of the aisle - and that bozo in the White House just sell out America anytime they can. 500 illegals per week is astounding, and certainly makes it extremely difficult to have much faith in the American future.
The only benefit may be that pretty soon the wages in this Country will be low enough with Mexican labor that the jobs will be brought back home because the wages will be lower. And all the stuff we buy from China may be made here cheaper.......
I really hate the political climate in this Country. Everyone is so damm pi$$ed at neocons and liberals, and no one believes in a middle of the road, logical approach to problems...... Fugit. Let the bustards come and pay taxes and their own medical bills....

That would work great...when the government provides a way to actually verify the docs that an illegal presents are fake! Until then, there is not much the government can do. Sucks!
My mother worked immigration for 20 years down here in AZ. I've talked with quite a few border patrol guys in person as well as have seen television specials on this problem. The drug cartel is the one who pushes the human smuggeling. The more people they can try and push across, the less attention on them. In Nogalas, the patrol agents have to use infrared lights to see at night because if they use flashlights while patrolling the wall, snipers on the other side try and take them out. Coyotes are what the cartel hire to bring mobs of people across. They are usually punk kids with nothing to lose, including their life. These coyotes give the illegals speed (even the kids and elderly and sick) so it keeps them moving. They don't care what happens to the people. A huge problem is the amount of border patrol agents vs illegals and coyotes. I saw a bust once where there were only 2 agents vs 80 illegals. You don' know how many of them have a gun or knife so the agents are very leary sometimes. Especially when they bust them at night and you can't see jack. I don't buy that crap about all them coming across and giving cheap labor. Man, there are already thousands upon thousands of poor hispanic citizens here already that work for dirt. We don't need 500 more a day coming across to give cheap labor. I could drive down town Mesa (suberb of Phx) and the illegals line the streets just standing their waiting for anybody to pull up and taken them somewhere to work. People go down their all the time and hire those guys to do landscaping, moving, whatever. Cheap labor for hire at a moments notice. Just pick em up, take them to where you want them to work and give them some water and lunch and they'll work all day for $50.00, even in the hot a$$ sun when it's 110 out. I can't tell you exactly how many line the streets but they are in the thousands spread out over several blocks, and that's just in Mesa. I know they are in all the metro area in full force. They live in the low income apartments and sometimes up to 15 people living in a studio. You don't want to walk around there at night or park your car there I can tell you that.

Well under this new policy they are trying to push through it will soon solve all of these immigration issues. They will get voting rights and soon be the majority so they will vote away any and all boarder control.....that way everyone can just have free run on our country. We are giving people, we might as well give away our country.

Illegal immigration has been and will be the biggest danger to this country... not terrorism.
I've never seen an issue so overwhelmingly agreed upon by our population... and so flagrantly ignored by our government.
California is an example of what will happen to the country if we don't get our lawmakers to wake up. I paid almost a third of my salary last year in taxes and we've got the worst public school systems in the country. (Not that I'd ever send my kids there.)
The scary thing about this is... you've got BOTH parties caving to special interest groups on this stuff. Californians are against drivers licenses for aliens by something like 85%... and it's gotten onto the bill twice, now.
It's a sick body taking over a healthy body. Like that analogy or not, that's what it is... and the sick body's never going to get any better because of it, but the healthy body WILL get sick. Again, California is as far as you need to look. Public schools and hospitals FULL of kids of immigrants who aren't paying any taxes.

Bingo.
But, ask yourself... why isn't that happening?

Anchor babies. Try that in any part of the world and you still have an illegal imigrant. At least one parent should be a U.S. citizen.

The reality of our situation is that neither party will ever agree to that. It's effectively off the table.

NAFTA. Why have we entered a trade agreement with a foreign nation that cannot or refuses to control its frontier states. The drug cartels run the northern states of Mexico. Drugs and wetbacks. Mexico needs to clean its corruption before I'll ever consider it a credible partner.

They can! There is a voluntary program to check Social security #s and of course many business owners do not check. Easy to help fix this is build the damn fence we pass the law on (850 plus miles and we got 11 miles and it isnt doubled length yet) a few months back. Fine and or put in prison the employers that violate the labor law and let law enforcement officers detain any illegal aliens that are arrested for a felony. This will help start seeing a decrease in illegals. If this law passes, time to start a new country.

Let's do the math. $1million a week nets a 250K fine and 10 years in the slammer for a scapegoat. Meanwhile they are saturating our country with
500(+-) Illegals each week (if this enterprise has been in operation for a year that would equate to 27000+- more "aliens" walking our streets.)
Nice!
I propose $250K per person and 10 years per person.

You know that will never happen. It would be "political suicide" for anyone involved in passing that legislation/ law.

Come on Meck, the heat isn't on. This issue isn't going away. The goverment will come up with another "**** for brains" legislation.
The only thing that would work is punishment of the employers. PERIOD. Other than that we are just "pissing into the wind".

It just goes to show how far off track our government is from the will of the people. Since 911, Americans have been shouting for one thing: Secure the borders. Neither Congress nor the President have done one single damn thing about it except to issue sound bites. Even this immigration bill they're arguing about now is a joke, and they know it. Yesterday, Sessions stated that we might get a bill, but it will be another congress down the road that will have to fund it, and you know how that goes. They'll do the same thing they did in 1986, hand out a free pass and call it something else, pat each other on the back and give themselves a raise. Kennedy is so out of touch on the issue, that as a long time Democrat, I find him embarassing. Talk about Mr. Irrelevant.
This is what Congress does now. They talk big and they talk tough. They'll pass a bill that puts thousands of agents on the border and builds new fences. They'll come down hard on employers. They'll force illegals to jump through a bunch of hoops to become legal. But the only part they'll actually fund is the part where illegals come into some government office and put down some money to get a little card that let's them stay in the country. It will be an open ended pass, no strings attached. All of the enforcement provisions will go "poof" and die on the vine for lack of funding.
And then, your local gas bag politician will come into your district and say, "Boy, we really rolled up our sleeves and passed a comprehensive immigration bill. It sure is tough." Bush will sign it into law and have a nice photo op. And next year, another million illegal immigrants will come across the border.

This is the way its been for a long time.

The masses are already satiated with their big macs. Unless those go away, our government knows that the people will not rise against them. Keep Joe Schmoe eating cheeseburgers and watching Sunday afternoon football and everything will be okay.
Kennedy is so out of touch on the issue, that as a long time Democrat, I find him embarassing. Talk about Mr. Irrelevant.
Kennedy has never been relevant. But on that note, I recall a speech from McCain about the immigration problem when he rhetorically asked a group of people if they would go work in the fields for 50 bucks an hour as if it were some unliveable wage. Talk about out of touch. That guy is miles away from the everyday reality of Americans, and its not just him. Most of our elite class has no idea how the populace lives. Are these the people that we want leading the masses?
