I don't really understand what was going on there other than punks messing with an old handicapped couple. What a bunch of brave coouks. Obviously a few of them them needed a baseball bat to the base of the skull.

I should have explained a bit more...It's an anti-car demonstration. If you can believe such a thing. Personally, to me it looks like a bunch of yippie kids from silicon valley trying to find some sort of pitiful meaning in their lives.
Throwing your bike under a moving handicapped vehicle doesnt seem like a very honorable thing to do.

I would have ran over it and kept going...I would have told the police I feared for my life when an angry mob tried to attack me.

Then you get these little college kids standing around your van and shouting down at you. "There's someone under the van!" as though you are breaking some law by avoiding an angry mob of yippies.

Not a base ball bat to the skull, but just some common sense. To wit: Bicyclists are held to the same laws as people in cars are. They just forget it, and feel like they're victims as they zig in and out of traffic as they please.
There was one of these protests in the neighborhood I'm in in San Diego. I took the attached picture of them after asking their ring leader what was going on. He said something to the effect of..."We're just trying to let everyone know that we have rights too.!" It'd have been far more funny if you could have been there to see it for yourself.
I'm a crappy photographer...especially since I only take pictures when I'm sauced...but you can make out the tires of bikes during this protest.

I really have no respect for these people. If you want to protest, choose a life and death issue, like the war in Iraq or the genocide in Darfur, not this ****ing navel gazing :bs:.

It's no wonder alot of these groups get no respect. It is really hard to take them seriously when they think the way to get attention for their "cause" is to pick-on an elderly couple, a handicapped elderly couple at that. tsk tsk

I always feel bad when old ppl get scammed. I guess running into outraged hippies is less bad than losing ur life savings. also I think this will make great conversation, tell ur grandkis about the hippies u ran over.
