View Full Version : How would you feel if Bush and Cheney were assasinated

There was recently a movie about this possibility. I haven't seen it. But given the hatred for Bush, it seems the likelyhood of some psycho succeeding in his attempt must rise assuming there are already psychos making attempts. So let's say it happened.
How would you feel about it?

There are times when freedom of speech crosses the line, whether it was a Dem or Rebub in office I would be against any one being alowed to explore the subject while that person was still in office.

Oh please, Kennedy, Lincoln, Reagan.
It is a possibility, and there has never been a more hated President. Why not talk about it?

I could vote for any of those choices actually. Kind of a crappy poll. Oh well.
If Bush and Cheney were assasiated, I'd be relieved that there would be a huge change.
Pelosi would fire the cabinet, and set the country straight.
I'd be pissed that our President and VP were wacked though. Because of the billet only. Personally they are the probably in the top ten worst people in the world though. It be weird.
Whether we hate him or hate him alot, he is the President.

To your point, it'd be a crushing blow to our country. There would be alot of I told you so's. I wonder if it would cause a change in our view of the world, and get the WHOLE country on a war footing, and get a draft going.

I do think Bush has made mistakes (just like any other Human Being)-but I don't think for a moment that under the kinds of pressure any President is under that I could do any better.
That being said, while there are things I wish he'd done differently, believe it or not it could be a whole lot worse (and History shows that it could be).
Just a change of Parties does not guarantee things turn around-

It's actually really sad that these types of topics are surfacing. If we
had a president who was not only honest with the public, but also honest to himself, we wouldn't even have polls like this.

My hero? NO way, He's had opportunities to make this thing work and has fumbled the football. Didn't secure the borders (of course we all know NO ONE WILL, so that's a dead issue). And, being so damn stubborn, he just didn't recognize when his loyalty to members of his cabinet was his greatest liability, and it consequently cost him. My point, I see no dem worth the time right now, especially pelosi. And her magically turning into the POTUS would be a disaster to be quite honest, we aren't equipped to handle that as a nation in the least......dman

As Bill Maher pointed out the other night, 25% of Americans think the Second Coming is happening this year. That's right. This year. Oddly enough, that's about the same percentage that think that Bush is doing a good job.

And no one here has advocted killing anyone. Personally, I think that if they were killed it would not help things. Curiously, we have sort of a certainty. Jan 2008, we draw down.
however, I think as a matter of honor, Bushii has only one course open to him. Shoot cheney in the head, and swallow the next one himself.

Pelosi would be a disaster right now. Second, this list of yours looks very familiar. Gee, could it be that some of the same "style" of issues were present during the eight years before Bush took office? I'm thinking so. In any case, per your list anyway, it's been a sixteen year disaster vice an eight year disaster. Fair enough. Looking forward to when the dems get serious and propose a candidate who MAY be able to properly negotiate the office of POTUS. Broom hillary doesn't count. Again, just my opinion. And a poor analogy on your part. The same could be said for someone who voted for "clinton" or "gore" depending on what one's perspective is. These are just a few of the reasons I don't think Pelosi would do anything short of a disaster as president:

I dislike Bush and company as much as anyone.
But I would not want to see either the pres or vp assassinated.
Put behind bars? You bet. Humiliated and disgraced? You bet.
But not martyred, and thats what would happen if either were to be assassinated.

There was recently a movie about this possibility. I haven't seen it. But given the hatred for Bush, it seems the likelyhood of some psycho succeeding in his attempt must rise assuming there are already psychos making attempts. So let's say it happened.
How would you feel about it?
I, more than anyone you will ever meet in this life, want Bush gone.
Count me among the many who consider him an illegitimate president and a usurper who illegally occupies the WH.
However, assassination isn't the American way (unless you're part of the conservative/redneck American underbelly that snuffed out the lives of JFK, RFK, and MLK, apparently.)
No, we can't squander the last few miniscule crumbs of moral ascendancy America has left.
Might as well become Uzbekistan or Somalia.
Now, do I want to see Bush tried for all of his high crimes and misdemeanors?
Do I want to see the court-appointed pinhead stand trial in The Hague for his many egregious war crimes and crimes against humanity?
You bet your ass!

In the interest of the future of humankind, and to protect our species' (and the planet's) chances for survival, we should definitely consider taking anyone whose last name is 'Bush' permanently out of the gene pool (not you, Reggie. ;))
No assassinations, mind you - just imprisonment for the remainder of their natural lives. :~ohyah!:

I'm sure if we were living in Germany in the late 1930s/early 1940s you'd be scolding me for being too hard on Uncle Adolph and being a 'hater' too.
People like you who defend criminals and incompetents like Bush for the sake of your screwy, backward-ass ideology and partisan politics scare me.

Everyone has an opinion and you've stated yours. Fortunately, I could care less what you think. I see you still haven't learned you catch more bees with honey than vinegar. Catch more bees with honey??? WTF does that have to do with the subject. Are we supposed to embrace George and Dick for what they have done? They both are criminals and have abused their position to often to excuse.
Yes, I know, it's my OPINION, which is your usual "comeback".

We'll definitely see this again. In fact, it's become commonplace after 8 years of Clinton and 6+ years of Bush. As long as partisan politics exists, parties will continue to drag down the leader(s) of the other party...
I was thinking the same thing. I don't wish or hope for anyone to be killed, they do have family's that love them. But they should get what they deserve and that is first impeachment and then jail time. Those are taxes I would gladly give up.
I think that increasingly that one’s ideological slant is now prosecutable. If they Bush (et all) were squeaky clean, I do think that something would be created for political gain, and that it would get traction as his ideas are hated. Republicans are obviously also capable of this, and it worries me that folks are so small as to define themselves (by nothing else) except political affiliation. With the Internet, and the explosion of information and misinformation out there its almost like we are experiencing the opposite of “1984,” where ideas were controlled by restricting information available – now we are constantly showered by misdirection, correct facts mixed with bad intent, or flat out lies – and filtering out who is sharing what and for what reason seems more and more difficult. So those that spout off like the Dan Rather’s of the world who pretend they have no agenda are occasionally exposed, and there are those to the right like Hennady, who cant give good credit when credit is due to the left – all because he is only defined by a large R in front of his view.

What laws (please provide sources if you have them) has he re-written?
Please underrstand, that I am not a huge fan of the guy (perhaps for VERY different reasons than many on this board/rant.)

I have a minor in history, but honestly have not spent hours reading over various political demonizing throughout our history, I know Lincoln was despised as he was so overtly religious and his later stand against slavery --
Those that are older may have insight into how the tone has changed over the years? Maybe we just think it has gotten more nasty based on an unpopular war (and a historically myopic perspective.)

We saw it, Netflix has it: "Death of a President."
It's very well done, definitely - the Chicago PD cooperated and helped with the production. But it's not really a political film, per se. It's more of a mystery film showing the inside of the Secret Service, and how the wrong people can be swept up as suspects in a post 9/11 world. It details each suspect and how they were fingered and interrogated, and how - perhaps - a rush to judgment happened.
Damn good film ... but believe it or not, it's not a "Bush-Hater" film.

These kinds of polls really do make terrorist organizations really happy, expecially when the leftists chime in. Heck, why don't the liberals of today see if they can get a cut from the Al Qaedas, Hamas, Hezbollah, to name just a few of the numerous Islamic terror groups around the world. since they are doing their work for them. They don't need to spend so much money brainwashing the people in this country, like they do the suicide bombers, they have the liberals and the lefty media doing it for them. Such a shame not to be paid for their work.

The last thing terrorists want is for the Lefties to take over American politics. They've never had it so good as they've had it under Bush. He's like a one man terrorist recruiting campaign. Any troglodyte that supports Bush is an American hating traitor fascist opposed to the true ideals of America! :D

You can go through history and find plenty of presidents who are villified in newspaper cartoon strips and, later, TV and other media outlets. It's just recently taken a nastier tone because of the number of outlets people have for venting and/or finding out information about their political leaders.

Sick to think it would be good regardless of party stance. It is our presidency and we get rid of them two ways, at election or impeachment. I would figure that Freak6 would think Pelosi would be a great choice. After all, Freak6 thinks we need to kill all of our middle class citizens pocket books to keep pumping trillions of dollars on the poor. F the ones who make the country run. They need more money regardless if it helps.
