Steelers offensive lineman Alan Faneca glares at new offensive line coach Larry Zierlein during mini-camp drills today.
Guard Alan Faneca said today he is attending the required Steelers minicamp only because the team is making him and predicted this will be his last season with the Steelers.
Faneca, who has played in the past six Pro Bowls, said he will depart Pittsburgh Sunday night when practices end and won't return until training camp.

ROFL!
300 pounds extra load will put a dent in the return trip fuel consumption too, §pider - don't forget that.
But seriously, we should consider signing Faneca next off-season if Nalen retires. We could slide Hamilton over to center, and team Faneca with Kuper at guards. But actually - based on the contracts of Hutchinson, Steinbach et al - we might not want him at that price.

Faneca just said he would not be back in Pitt next year. He feels they should take care of him for all he has done and well I agree. I would love to have him in Denver.

Just said on ESPN the Steelers are going to take care of him next month. Now, that may be a hit or a new contract but it sounds like it's a done deal either way.

He is on a 4 yr 14 mil deal and when the likes of Leonard Davis, Guy bills signed and the rest inked 60 mil a year gigs he has a gripe.

This has been brewing for some time. I'm very curious what the Steelers will look like at season's end. I hear Ben Roethlsifsdfdberger is a tool and is not progressing well. We'll see, I guess.

We'll see, I guess. They just showed him on TV with all the Steelers praising his dedication to the upcoming year. Down to 240, focused and ready to to get back where he was and better, was the general consensus.

Is there much doubt he wants to join the ex-Steeler coaches in AZ?

Good for Faneca. He should try to get as much as he can. Whether Pittsburgh will give it to him is another question, but he definitely should try. If he can get through the year healthy, he'll get a huge payday in this market. If a few of Pittsburgh's guards get hurt in camp, he could really force the issue.

LOL
Steelers are currently in trade discussions with an NFC team for the services of Alan.
Steelers will not release him and will not trade him to any AFC team. If a deal with the NFC can't be reached Alan will have to play for the Steelers in 07.
He may sit/hold out the first 4 games. But the front office isn't going to allow Alan to be a negative to the new coaching era.
As far as Ben, he's still a punk, even more so without "The Chin" around. He's not down to 240, he's up to 240. After the bike wreck, wired jaw shut, then the appendix, Ben was down in the low 200's.

A deal may be worked out to trade Faneca to Arizona and re-unite him with HC Wisenhunt and OC Grimm. I'm sure those three would be happy for that situation to come about.

I would love to move little Ben to center and let a bigger guard like Faneca be the one taking on the 340 pound DT's.

I think Shanny said that Ben has been at guard so long that he'll probably just keep him there and move someone else to center.

Derrick Dockery and Kris Dielman.
Talented guards can make $7-8 mil a year easy.
