Denver has second lowest rookie salary allocation pool in the league at just $2.757M. Oakland leads the league to no one's surprise at $6.913M.

But the main reason I posted this is I wondered if anyone knows how much cap space we have left after this?

That figure is not deducted from Denver's current cap space. The rookie pool is the max amount of cap space that can be used on this year's rookies.

And it's lower for us because we only have four rookies.

UDFAs are included and all their entire bonuses hit this year, so that's factored in too

Exactly. The cap space is only reduced as and when each drafted or undrafted rookie sign their contract and it's submitted to NFLPA.

I estimate our current cap space at anywhere between $6-$8m after we signed Holdman and Lewis. Undrafted rookies wont factor in because only 51 players count against the cap right now and we have 90 or thereabouts.

I think Shanny said that they enough of that money left to by about 10 dominos pizzas and if the delivery deliver looks like he can play the might sighn him too.

Let me ask you this, because I've never understood it: On what DATE must teams be under the cap? It's gotta be after final cutdown, right? Because think about it - every team has 70+ guys under contract now ... and draft picks to sign right away.

It would be unfair to force teams under the cap with 75+ contracts on the books.

I wanna know why people want us to be well under the cap after our rookies signed? Who the heck else will there be to sign? I doubt anybody will be out there to sign after June 1, and even then, he would have to be an immediate starter to even be worth a look.

Having additional cap space always comes in handy if we lose a player through injury or another team releases a player we could use. The additional room can also be used to change contracts, giving more money this season to extend deals or lessen the hit in future years as we did with Demetrin Veal and Nate Webster last year when room was created with the release of Sauerbrun.

You are quite correct though that it is a waste if indeed we pushed most of Al Wilson's dead money into 2008 and we are not going to use it this year. I do believe though that the reason Sundqvist and Shanahan did that was to make a run at Jenkins but obviously Carolina's asking price was too high.

Oakland get 6.1 million? How are they going to sign Russell and have anything left? Certainly the signing bonus is just the pro rated amount, but if he gets 30 million signing bonus over 6 years, that's still 5 million plus his salary. The rookie bonus is one of the last things about capology that still totally baffles me.

We should keep a veteran minimum I guess out there. Man, we looked screwed 4 months ago and got 4 pretty big free agents plus some fringe players. I have no doubt Ramsey will make the team, or very little.
