Ok, as the summer lineup just kicked off with Spidey 3 Iīd like to see what the rest thinks about the summer lineup.
What movies are you looking forward to? What movies are you planning to see at the theatre? What are the highlights of the lineup apart from Spidey 3 and POTC: AWE?
I am areally looking forward to the Simpsons Movie as I love the show. Might go and see Pirates of the Carribbean 3 at the theatre ... Oceanīs Thirteen is a movie Iīll watch at some point, but I was really disappointed by Oceanīs Twelve and will probably wait for the DVD.

I am interested in the Fantastic Four movie, with the Rise of the Silver Surfer. I always thought the Silver Surfer could be a good movie, so we'll see.
I was a big Marvel comics fan in college.

Going to the movies costs a bit so I will probably go see Pirates 3, Transforrmers, and the wife will force me to the potter movie which I am not a fan. I put in the 2nd potter to bore me to sleep at times.

I am sick and tired of comic book movies and f'n fantasy movies. That is all there is. I think they all suck, and I still haven't seen hardly any of them. Comic book movies as a hole suck balls. Same with all this lame fantasy ork garbage. Where are the sci-fi movies? Where have they gone! Bring them back! Give me my freaking aliens! Give me my freaking space ships! Give me my laser guns!

OK, I'm halfway finished with the above list. The only movie I've passed on so far is Evan Almighty. The poor reviews convinced me to wait a bit for this movie. I went to see the new Die Hard movie yesterday. BEST MOVIE OF THE SUMMER so far. Another movie I want to put on my "must see" list is License to Wed. That looks hilarous. I might also go see Balls of Fury with Christopher Walken...

I saw Transformers last night and it rocked! If you like that type of movie you will love it. Great summer flick.
I won tickets for a special screening if you are wondering how I saw it a week early.

Surfs up was cool, my son liked it as well.
Best '07 Summer movie thus far, IMO, "Knocked Up."
Absolutely hilarious, but with a lot of heart.

Really Die Hard?? I thought it looked like a terd when I saw the trailer of a Raptor fighter jet hovering inside a bridge and then seeing McClane riding on the tailfin then leaping off of it, and the cheesy crashing the car into the helicopter and in the tunnel where the car lands on two others and spares McClane and his comic relief (the I-Apple-Mac kid). Then when I found out it was a PG-13 flick (Hollywood seems to think R rated movies can't make money anymore...300 made some serious coin!) It looked like Die Hard mixed with Independence Day, not enough hard effects. But I'll give it a shot.

We watched Die Hard this past week and enjoyed it. I wouldn't call it my favorite summer movie. We also saw POTC, Spider Man, Fantastic four and Ocean's Thirteen. None have met my standard for the best summer movie.
The best summer movie may be the animated rat chef in Ratatouie (sp). Will probably watch that one this weekend.

It's a mix of wisecracks (which only Bruce Willis can pull off) and very cool stunts. Obviously, if those were real stunts, he would have died about a thousand deaths. You just have to check your brain at the door when it comes to the stunts and just enjoy the awesomeness of them. It's only a summer popcorn flick, not an Academy Award winner.

I totally understand, I was just comparing them to the previous Die Hard films, of course some of those stunts were outlandish but nothing like riding a jet fighter. I can still tell CG from the hard effects of old. Mcternian was awesome back in the day, Die Hard, Predator. Two of my all time fave action flicks.

Die Hard kicked ass. Seriously, go and see it.
Live Free or Die Hard.
Absolutely fantastic movie. It was a little long, but I was at the edge of my seat, the action was awesome and the comic relief was brilliant.
Let's talk about the things this movie has. . .
Bruce Willis shooting through himself to kill somebody else? Check.
Bruce Willis taking down a helicopter by launching a car off of a ramp? Check.
Bruce Willis having a hot daughter? Check.
Bruce Willis kicking a bad guy in an ice chipper and making crazy death sounds? Check.
Bruce Willis having an Academy Award worthy performance for best comedic performance? Check.
Bruce Willis escaping death at least three hundred times? Check.
Kevin Smith cameo as a Star Wars geek/computer hacker whose CB radio frequency is 666? Check.
Capitol Hill blowing up? Check.
Unlikely scenario that would probably never happen, but you'd love to see happen? Check.
Cement truck crashing head on into a poll in an underpass without any lights? Check.
American perseverance over the French? Check.
Bruce Willis? You betcha.
Ricky Bobby said Highlander got the Academy Award for best movie ever, but he was wrong. This movie takes the cake.
Best movie ever.

God, why do they have to destroy classic novels??? Ender's game is one of those books that needs the same treatment as the LOR series if going to any good.

At the end of the "Ender's Shadow" audio book, Orson Scott Card has a nice afterword. Boiled down, he's doing his best to make certain that the movie is an accurate reflection of the two books (Game and Shadow are being combined). He's writing the script and basically is retelling the story from a third point of view. This is one of the few novels to movies that I'm seriously looking forward to.
I really hope they treat it better than Jackson treated LOTR. He seriously dumbed down the story and made very good movies instead of all-time great movies. "Ender's Game" is another that could be an all-time great if it's done right.

Orson Scott Card is writing the script and has kept much of the creative control. He has adamantly refused to allow Ender to cast as anything older than 12 (the studios want to make him 16 and give him a love interest ugh...) to keep the story the way he envisioned it. Card is wealthy enough to simply tell the studios "Screw you!" if he doesn't like the way it's going.
I completely agree it would be a travesty if this movie is handled poorly, but I have hope because Card is babysitting it all the way.
