Yeah yeah yeah, I know, Rome got his ass beat by Everett, he's terrible, etc. I'm open to any/all Rome bashing.

With that out of the way, the Smack Off is on Friday, and I won't be able to listen to it in its entirety.

I was wondering if anybody knew of a way to get an mp3 of his show? Perhaps a place to download, or if somebody out there had the capability to get the mp3's of the show, etc.

Anybody who can help, thanks in advance.

Rome has a great Radio show. Back in the Day I used to be able to listen to Art Bell at night, Howard in the morning and Rome in the Afternoon. The good 'ole days.

Why don't you try: www.jimrome.com ?
I think you can either download or listen to his daily show over there.

(For the record I hate his show, now that was a tremendous post.)

Rome did a live taping at a Padres/Rockies game in 96 and I just happened to go not even knowing he would be there. The Rockies were in BP, they had his show on the PA, and one clone got on the mic and yelled, "This is sea level. The dirt behind the pitchers mound isn't the warning track". Later in BP, Marvin Freeman gave Rome and the clones the bird.

Rome used to be a lot more ruthless, he's mellowed. The show was a lot better when it was exclusively on the air in Southern California.

Good story.

I love Rome and the show. Most clones that call in make me wanna puke. Smack off sucks. Only time I don't listen.

He's a strutting rooster that loves to peck at people behind their backs. He made a mistake taunting Everett in person.

He's lucky Chrissy Everett got pulled off that weasle. He was going to teach Jessica Rome a lesson. Cat fight!! Ha!

He's barely tolerable, I only watch because some athletes are too stupid to stay away.

At least he said it in his face unlike you saying it behind his back! I dont listen to Rome anymore, but back in the day when Denver was the 3rd affiliate (i think either Vegas or Alburquerque was 2nd), I called under John from Fort Collins (even though i was in SoCal). The show got old after about 8 years ago. Smack off is fun but i always thought it was arounf Easter Week. Maybe ill listen but i only know a few callers. Always liked JT the Brick when he used to call and won an early Smack off.

Well the thing is, I think I'd need to sign up for an extended length of time. And even though it's not a lot of money, I just really want this one show in its entirety.

The Dan Patrick show is on at the exact same time as Rome, and it's a far better show.

Olbermann makes Patrick's show much better than Romey's. Politics aside, Keith's just a brilliant dude with humor that rivals Dennis Miller. Romey's schtick is old and slow. Still, i've heard a smack off call or two that are priceless, most being from Terrence.

Rome has grown up and matured quite a bit over the last decade. I couldn't stand him for a good while but I'm ok with him now that he is more experienced and mature.

The Everett thing put him on the map and for that I am sure he is glad he did it....however the only slight problem I have with him is I don't think he ever came clean and admitted what he did was classless. He loves to bag on everybody in the world when they do stupid stuff and act like classless idiots yet the thing that put him on the map was exactly that. I would love to hear him man up and say what he did was classless and ignorant rather use it as a badge of courage or something.

I'm still amazed that I just by fluke was watching that show live the day it happen back when ESPN2 was brand new. It was good entertainment to say the least. I wish he wouldn't have fell backwards like a girl so that Everret could have landed a good right cross before it ended however.

Rome has improved a lot over the last few years. I enjoy some of his shows now. He's quick and sharp and keeps the interviews and conversations focused.

We did indeed. I actually went by his site today, and it's only $7 for a month, so I might just pop for it. I don't really mind the money, it's just the principle that I probably won't use it outside of this one show.

I'm all about Otis, Vic from NoCal, and some others.

I would say the show more or less went to hell when it started adding affiliates. I always liked Lee Hamilton lot more than Rome. Nobody could rival Hacksaw in overall sports knowledge.

Waco Afilliate does 2 hours of Rome and 2 hours of Dan. I like them both. that one hour Patrick and Olbermann are on is the best hour in radio.

Dan Patrick is terrible by himself...unless you like hearing 4 hours of whining. He was much funnier when he had Dibble on the show with him.

To be honest, it's not ROME that I hate. It's all those stupid ass "rome groupies" that want so badly to be part of that whole cult following that make me sick. All they do is call in and try to sound like Rome himself with there "errs" after every 3 words. It's safe to say if you like Rome 10 years ago then you are probably down with everything. If you have never heard him and just turned him, you would probably hate it to death. To me, the show is way too much about the cult following of those stupid clones and dumb ass smack off's. People trying to talk **** about other callers from different cities. How boring is that for all of us to listen too? Please. Get some content man.

I recently started listening to Ron Wolfley over here in PHX in the morning instead of Bickley and MJ. Wolf is frickin funny as hell. It's great sports talk but a very funny show at the same time. It only works because of the Wolf.

Bickley, that show has the worst programming I swear. The day before the draft and a huge local BB game on between Suns and Lakers and all they could talk about was lame ass Diamondbacks baseball all morning long. How retarded is that crap. I gave up on them after that crap. NFL is the BIGGEST sport there is and the day before the draft you talk MLB with what, 165 games left in the regular season. :welcome:

When i want to hear about the badminton championships in China, I go to Paul aka Lee Hamilton. Dude puts out so much crapola on his "topic table" that i think he just wants to hear himself be such a sport knowledgist. "Rancho Santa Fe, I want to hear you guys discuss the semi finals for the indoor soccer league." React! Many have no idea who he is except Rome would mimick him. "Santee, i cant hear you!" Rancho Cucamonga, where are you?" I dont listen to 570 too much but glad Lee is left as sport topic for the first 15 mintues than stuck in the back room to watch espn ocho.

I actually agree with you, believe it or not. There's a real fine line between the good callers and the terrible callers. The good callers who run their smack can actually be quite hilarious, at least I think.

But then there are the ones that you hit on the head, they are just reaching so hard, trying to be just like Rome, or trying to please him, or whatever. They generally fall flat on their faces.
