Who do you think are the steals of this draft, by round? In other words, who got drafted in the bottom of the first round that should have gone in the top ten? Who went in the second that should have gone in the top 20? Who, no matter where they were drafted, is going to have a long career, make some trips to Hawaii, and maybe even become a surprise star, no matter where they were drafted? One per round. Here's mine:
1st round - Robert Meachem, WR, Picked at #27 by the Saints
I believe Meachem will be a star. By the end of his first season, people will be asking "How did we miss this guy?" That he went to the Saints is bad news for the NFC. The Saints already have Colston. I especially look forward to seeing his YAC stats at the end of the year.
2nd round - Brian Leonard, RB, Picked at #52 by the Rams
This guy is going to kick ass and take names in St. Louis. I believe he will seize a place in the lineup and once he gets in, the Rams will be forced to figure out a way to get him on the field as often as possible. Down the road, I doubt they'll be able to hang onto Jackson and Leonard. He will end up a star somewhere, like a Bettis.
3rd round - Marshall Yanda, OG, Picked at #86 by Baltimore
Yanda has everything. I believe he'll play in the NFL for 12 or more years and go to Hawaii numerous times.
4th round - AJ Davis, CB, Picked at #105 by Detroit
AJ is fast. He's also good. I'm very surprised he dropped into the 4th. IMO, he's one of the steals of the draft.
5th round - Kevin Boss, TE, Picked at #153 by the Giants
Another one of those former b-ball players. This guy will get his chances, given Shockey's inability to stay healthy. He'll make the most of it.
6th round - Justin Rogers, OLB, Picked at #180 by the Pats
This guy is a wild man. Unfortunately, it's another Pats find. He'll be a killer OLB in their 3/4.
7th round - Mike Otto, OT, Picked at #223 by the Titans
I can't believe this guy dropped down here. I'm hoping the Titans screw this up and the Broncos can get their hands on him in a couple of years. But I doubt it. Once he beefs up 20 pounds or so and starts getting some chances, he will play at a top level for many years.

1. Reggie Nelson at #21 by Jax. Gonna be a star. Have no idea why we weren't interested.
2.Torn between David Harris and Ryan Kalil. But I'll go with Harris who will be a stud for the Jets for the next 10 years.
3. Charles Johnson, by Carolina. This draft set up the Panthers for awhile, CJ gives it his all every play and will be a very good DE.
4. Kareem Brown, DT to the Pats. A good landing place for him although he will likley start out as a rotational DT.
5. Aundrae Allison WR for Minnesota. I liked him -although there may have been a better fit for him than the Vikes.
6. I like HB Blades - he's a better player than his time - but here I'm going to go with Mason Crosby to the Packers. Great value and hopefully will adapt to the changes in the pros.
7. Hard not to pick Ottoa, but since he's been selected, I'll go with Ben Patrick, TE, Cardinals. Has a chance to play early and has great athleticism with the Card WR's getting most of the attention.

Agree with all except the 4th. I feel thomas will be the steal of the draft. Of couse he could waste his opportunity but I think he shows up the league.

Charles Johnson will be this year's Mark Anderson.
Yeah.
Round 1 - I think Anthony Gonzalez is going to fit in perfectly with the Colts. Harrison is getting older and a few years of playing third WR in the Colts offense, I imagine that Gonzales will put up about 700-900 yards each year with about 5-7 TD's. Maybe he won't be out what Calvin Johnson can potentially do, but I think he'll have a huge impact on the Colts. I was pissed to see Indy take him there because he is exactly the player they are looking for... a guy that eats, sleeps and lives football.
Round 2: Justin Blalock - I think that Blalock is going to be a 10-12 year player with at least 4 or 5 pro bowls to his name when it is all said and done. He is going to be a Shawn Andrews type of player. Atlanta had a hell of a second round with him and Houston.
2b- John Beck is going to be a very good QB in the NFL. He can make all the throws. He struggles a little bit with his accuracy down the field but can really work all the field. Coach Cam should be able to really develope him and build him into a heck of a QB.
3rd Round: There were a lot of good picks here. I think the best fit is going to be Jason Hill at WR in San Francisco. Hill is a physical WR who can work the possession and deep routes.
3b - Quincy Black is going to be a steal for the Bucs. I think he'll fit into that defense nicely and if Brooks departs as some are suggesting... I bet Black is the guy who steps in and fills the void.
3c - Tony Hunt is the perfect fit for the Eagles. He can be the Thunder to Westbrook's lightening.
3d- Daymeion Hughes is a guy that doesn't have grade A speed, but his ballhawking is going to give him a great opportunity in the tampa 2 defense. I think he could end up being a huge steal for the Colts pairing with Marlin Jackson for a years to come.
4th Round: Of course i'm going to say Marcus Thomas. The guy has 1st round upside. I liked him coming out of college DESPITE his stupid mistakes and you can't argue with his production. I think he willend up being a difference maker for our squad, I really do. I gave Clarett a chance too though.
4b - Josh Beekman to the Bears is a natural fit. He is a roadgrader with a bit of a nasty streak. He'll fit in nicely next to Kruetz who has that brawling attitude to him. I don't know if he'll have a pro bowl career but he is one of those Mark Schlereth guys you need on the line, a guy that will battle his ass off every play.
4c - Antwan Barnes is a natural pass rusher and another guy that the Ravens can flip opposite of Terrell Suggs creating a ferocious attack against opposing QB's. I think he'll fit it nicely with the aggressive mindset of the Ravens defense.
4d - Manuel Ramirez to the Lions pass happy offense, perfect fit for him in the NFL. Probably THE best fit for him. He'll do very well there.
5th Round - Josh Gattis is going to be a thorn in opposing offenses sides. He'll catch on slowly with special teams but I think he'll get some playing time opportunities as the year goes on.
6th Round - Mason Crosby, powerful leg in the Lambeau climate will be huge.
7th Round - Courtney Brown is one of the best looking prospects I have seen work out in a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if he not only makes the Cowboys team but ends up playing nickel for them this year.
