according to draftdaddy.com SD has signed all of the following players.
3 of these guys are RB! If I were a RB I don't think I'd try to make a team that has LT starting and a great backup also. I guess they are trying to get a whole roster to scrimmage against!

Tucker Jyles, DE, W. Forest

Reggie Merriweather, RB, Clemson

Andre Coleman, DE, Albany

Antwan Applewhite, DE, S.D.S.U.

Nick Roach, LB, Northwestern

Barry Cryer, DT, Nebraska

Eldra Buckley, RB, Tennessee Chattanooga

Louis Leonard, DT, Fresno State

Mark Bihl, OC, Michigan

Erik Robertson, OL, California-Berkeley

Jeremy Sheffey, OL, West Virginia

Miguel Merrick, S, Iowa

Jarrett Hicks, WR, Texas Tech

Mark Bihl, OC, Michigan

Mike Jones, OL, Iowa

Keith Grennan, DT, Eastern Washington

Anthony Arline, CB, Baylor

Germaine Race, RB, Pittsburg State

Chad Schroeder, WR, Texas A&M

Sonny Shackelford, WR, Washington

Tra Battle, S, Georgia

I'll bet they keep Leonard.

Arline isnīt a bad UDFA pickup, either.

As for the RBs, Turner could still be traded.

I'm surprised we didn't go after Nick Roach. I have no idea if he has any game though

Seems like they do this every year.

Bastards. Thats just mean. "we think you'll have an excellent chance of making our team if you sign with us"

Oh yeah Opps we signed 20 ****in players, your cut!

Mean way to do business, why the heck did the last few players sign? "so you signed 17 udfa's so far huh, sign me up!"

They signed 3 running backs? Why? Don't most teams use this time of year to try and fill voids?

Reggie Merriweather could be a diamond in the rough. Not a ton of speed, but is a punishing between the tackles runner who plays with a lot of fire. He would have started at most Division 1-A programs and did start at Clemson as a sophmore and some as a junior, but was buried as a senior behind James Davis and CJ Spiller. Is also a class person...he never complained about losing playing time to the youngsters.

The Chargers have traditionally given the biggest bonuses to UDFA's to get them to sign there. True, it's going to be tough for them to make the team, but that's going to be the case no matter where they go. At least, they'll be making more cash, whether they make the team or not.

One other factor may be that San Diego has found a number of diamond in the rough UDFAs in the past few years: Gates, Eric Parker, Kris Dielman, Steven Cooper, Kassim Osgood, Jacques Cesaire, who are all starters or significant contributors. It seems that you'll get a fair shot at making the team as long as you have the talent and/or potential.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a UDFA RB make the team/practice squad. They're going to be looking for someone to groom as a Turner replacement for now anyway. I can see them drafting a RB in the 3rd/4th round next year, if any good prospects are there.

I really believe that this club is going to be no better than .500 next year. Too many changes.

That's kind of surprise. Usually you only see that behavior from bad teams with no cap room.

Undrafted guys have made a big mark on the roster over the last 3-4 years. It's an awesome strategy cuz there's really nothing to lose except Dean Spanos' money.

As boltaneer said it's worked well the past. Diamonds in the rough are always nice to get and they tend to give you a discount later down the line since you gave them a chance ie. Kris Dielman.
