I'm going crazy here in Mass.
Everyone in my office is going on and on about how great Tom Brady is becuase he (gasp) restructured his contract to get Randy Moss in town.
"Isn't he just the best?"
"Man, there is not a better TEAM player in the league than Brady!"
I'm sick of it.
I tried explaining to a few intelligent people that contract restructurings are not at all uncommon.....and that it usually just means that the player took his salary upfront and relabeled it as "signing bonus"......and that Champ and Javon did restructures this year as well.
Highly paid players do this alot to help the cap situation of their teams......
But BRADY is special......::)

What I don't get is why so many people keep calling them a dynasty. It's not like they're still winning super bowls, and every year it goes like this:
They won three out of the last four.
They won three out of the last five.
They won three out of the last six.
and so forth and so on.
You'd think no organization ever won super bowls before. Besides, they were the least impressive so called 'dynasty' you ever saw. Yet we get hammered about how they're a model organization. Whatever, everyone has their 'time' and then it moves on to another team. Seems like these sports heads are the ones who can't 'move on.'

Exactly......SIX teams have won back-to-back Superbowls.....but from the way the media talks...you'd think that New England was the only one.

that's the funny thing...they DIDN'T win back to back...there was a year 'skip' inbetween, so they couldn't sustain it either! The men in orange were the last...;D

Yeah they did win back to back.....in 2003 (vs. Carolina) and in 2004 (vs. Philly).....they also won in 2001.

I do agree with that statement and it wasn't like 30 yrs ago when the last team(Denver) won back to back championships. Just in recent history from the Superbowl in 1997 to 2007 three teams(GB, Den, NE) have gone to back to back superbowls and two of them have won back to back.

Actually SEVEN teams.....Back to back champs are ......
Green Bay (SB 1,2...1966, 1967)
Miami (SB 7,8...1972, 1973)
Pittsburgh(2 times) (SB 9,10...1974,1975 & SB 13,14...1978,1979)
San Francisco (SB 23,24...1988,1989)
Dallas (SB 27,28...1992,1993)
Denver (SB 32,33...1997,1998)
New England (SB 38,39...2003, 2004)
My confusion was that only 6 COACHES have won back-to-back.....because the San Fran repeat was Walsh, then Seifert.....

I'm not sure what was so epic about NEs offseason. Thomas was obviously a good signing, but what was so great about the rest of the moves? Stallworth had all of 36 catches last season and has been hampered by injuries his entire career, Kelly Washington has talent but also has struggled with injuries and has done little of note in his career, Kyle Brady is almost eligible for social security, Moss is a classic cancer...I mean, what was so epic about this offseason? One very good signing, and the rest are injury prone, old, cancerous, or some combination of the three.

No....what I'm saying is that the media and people in my office are making it sound as if Brady is special (even MORE so).....BECAUSE he did this restructure......my point was that this action does NOT make him special.....

My thoughts exactly.....but this is classic east coast media bias.
If you look at all transactions.....it's easy to argue that DENVER could have had the most productive offseason of ANY team.....but you don't get all of the hoopla over it because after all.....they think that Denver is just some podunk midwest town in the hills.....

One of the main reasons I don't watch ESPN anymore is because of the Brady/Manning knob slob fest.
I couldn't imagine the pain of being a Bronco fan living on the east coast.

I hear ya - I have been saying the same thing on other threads. Seems like there are a lot of dudes here at the mane that are nut hugging too much on that Pats signing of Moss. It's like the past 4 years of his career don't count anymore and they think he's gonna be brilliant and he and Brady are gonna be best friends, and hang out together and everybody is gonna be a big happy family over in NE. Gimme a break.

Foxborough(AP):Updating earlier reports first leaked by the Boston Globe. Tom Brady took a dump today. It was the most beautiful dump ever created by a human being. It was a dump that only a 3 time Super Bowl winning could have created. It was a most glorius example of how a dump should be created. Patriots Coach Bill Belicheck confirmed the dump, saying he too witnessed the dump. Belicheck soon left the Gillette Stadioum lavratory to go bang some guy's wife.

I think the Broncos achievement was more impressive considering that the NFC had won the previous 13 Super Bowls. Denver basically shifted the tide in terms of conference balance of power. Now the AFC is a much more quality conference compared to the NFC. That was not the case in 1997-98.

This entire New England love fest is especially hard on us Bronco fans because they can never beat us. While everyone else fears them we are the one team they do not want to meet in the playoffs. It's too bad we are so busy being Peyton's b!tch that we rarely ever get the chance to do anything about it.

The difference is the national media never slobbered over Elway the way they do Brady and Manning. Sure, in Denver it's a love fest with Elway, but outside of that general area (the Front Range, Colorado, maybe some near buy states like Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico) the media has no interest in Elway.

Elway himself was a big factor in this. He didn't want all that attention and prefered to stay low key. Even to this day, he doesn't want to be on ESPN or NFL Channel or Fox, ABC, NBC as an analyst. He could have any job he wants but he's so damn rich, just play golf every day. I'd do the same.

It's funny...Brady is a reflection of the Patriot 'dynasty'. Nothing stands out, even to this day...he's compared more on results he gets as opposed to overall talent (not that I'm saying he hasn't any). But if you turn the volume off on your tv and watch him play, he's just another qb. And the pats won their titles by field goals, hardly what I'd call epic. maybe Viniteri should get all the credit.
dang, I must have missed that back to back thing, although I remember Pittsburg was the last to do it before Denver.

also, remember Elway was seen as the golden boy who had it all talent wise. Expectations were off the charts, and if he failed they celebrated. Brady came out of nowhere due to preparation and injury to Bledsoe. Manning was considered second rate to Ryan Leaf. Funny how the same people have amnesia about players. Peyton wasn't crap, now he's supposedly the greatest of all because of his stats and one ring. Brady was an afterthought, now people act like he's the be all, end all. Yet Aikman has three rings too and isn't as highly regarded. People are silly, especially sports media.
