Strengths: Possesses good range, has long arms and can cover the deep half of the field. Shows a second gear when tracking the ball downfield, is tall enough to compete for jump balls and can recover when gets caught out of position. Though doesn't have great ball skills, gets hands on a lot of balls, flashes the ability to make the big play in coverage and is a dangerous open field runner. Plays with a mean streak, times hits well and flashes the ability to deliver the big hit over the middle. Shows good closing speed and takes the shortest path to the ball. Is relentless and makes plays in pursuit. Blocked a kick last year, is a high-motor player that can cover kicks and should make early contributions on special teams.

Weaknesses: Though has the frame to add weight, doesn't have great bulk, lacks ideal lower body strength and is a liability when lining up in the box. Can be overaggressive, is vulnerable to play action and gets caught out of position at times. Gambles at times and is inconsistent. Though has adequate athletic ability, doesn't show great footwork and has some problems changing directions quickly. Knee injury in 2007 bowl game is a pressing concern.

Overall: Rogers appeared in seven games as a true freshman in 2003 as a reserve defensive back and on special teams and made six total tackles. In 2004, he saw limited action in 10 games and made one total tackle. Rogers started all 13 games at free safety in 2005 and recorded 56 total tackles, three interceptions (one returned for an 84-yard touchdown), 11 pass breakups, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick. In 2006 he started all 13 games at free safety and registered 36 total tackles, one tackle for loss, seven pass breakups, and one interception, earning All-Big 10 first team honors. He suffered a knee injury in the first half of the 2007 Capitol One Bowl.

Rogers is a playmaker with excellent speed but he isn't fundamentally sound and he needs to add bulk to his frame. He has enough talent to warrant a late-round pick but Rogers could go "undrafted" due to uncertainty regarding his knee injury.

Is still recovering from a knee injury suffered in the Capital One Bowl...A coverage safety who might only be a situational guy at the next level...Solid prospect with some talent but the uncertainty surrounding his health will hurt him on Draft Day.

He doens't have to be huge to be the other safety. Lynch shores up the run stopper safety for now. We need the other safety to be the cover guy, like an Ed Reed. Haven't seen him play so I can't say if I like the move or not, just stating a cover safety is more needed right now then a run stopper.
