I loved the picks of Moss and Crowder, Moss will be our Jason Taylor and Crowder will be very solid and and get better at getting after the QB just because Bates is our D-coordinator.

BUT...right now as it stands Demeatrin Veal(!!!!!!!NO!!!!!!) is our starter next to Warren. Teams will run right through us if he is our starter!

All we can do is pray to GOD we draft Marcus Thomas or Walter Thomas with a 6th or 7th.

I'm mad about missing out on Gattis.

Alvin McKinnley is our starter, veal is probably out, doesn't fit the scheme, Antwon Burton is also in, veal will be lucky to make the squad

We should take a flier on Walter Thomas (6'4 370lbs) with our 6th round pick. We only have 2 picks left.

I doubt he'll be there. If he is, sure, its a worthwhile gamble, but I'd be real surprised. This draft is short or talent, someone will gamble on him in rounds 4 or 5.

I'm not sold that that will be true. Lets see a healthy Warren and see a bulked up Veal. We don't need every player on the line to be a pro-bowler. No team has that, and the ones that are close have huge deficiencies elsewhere.

ya we need to pick at least one DT tomorrow...maybe spend both picks on DT. louis leonard, walter thomas, paul solai...there are a few biggies left

We need this guy:
<TABLE cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR class=bg2 vAlign=center align=right height=17><TD align=left><NOBR>Soliai, Paul (http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/2007/soliai_paul)</NOBR></TD><TD align=left>DT (http://nfl.com/draft/drafttracker/position/DT)</TD><TD align=left><NOBR>6-4</NOBR></TD><TD align=left>334</TD><TD align=left> </TD><TD align=left> </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Boy would be like Keith Traylor - a middle line firehydrant!

Except in a system that is basically centered around Big effective DTs.....it is important to atleast have a big guy in there even if he is not lights out. Veal is no where near the BIG guy we want.

One DT away from being solid.

Any DT the Broncos pick now isn't going to play much, if at all. My guess is they have their eye on Grady Jackson or some other veteran DT they will sign later. This years crop of DT's is nowhere near as good as next years figures to be and I bet the Broncos are thinking ahead on that.

I don't think any one DT is going to fix anything for the Broncos. I think we did alright given what we had to work with.

I am curious what the Broncos are looking to find in the undrafted FA pile.

I understand why SoCal says go down for multiple picks. This must have been miserable for him.

Problem with moving down is you do not the the best talent available in the higher rounds. Pick your poison.... higher impact players or alot of middle round camp fodder? You can't have it all guys.

I love how people on this board just assume that the Broncos need some fatso , throw him in the middle, and we'll be fine. Lets just say we did draft Walter Thomas, a guy who played two JUCO games last year. Just because he's 370, you think he could step right in the NFL and be effective. C'mon, the coaches know what they are doing here.

And yes, i agree our eye will be on Grady Jackson, assuming he is released.

Exactly. I think the onus is on talent off the edges. Antwon Burton and Amon Gordon are both bigger bodies that seem like they'll be better in the Bates scheme than they were in the "drop DL into coverage" scheme Coyer was in love with. Add a Quintin Echols or a Louis Leonard in the 7th, and we'll have some depth there.

I'll be happy if we land Quinton Echols in the 6th or 7th round.

Yeah, Shanny/ Bates seem to think Burton and Gordon will be good fits in the new system. Maybe, but I sure would like to get another DT with talent.

We will get at least one additional big DT in free agency, or the draft. What I keep hearing from folks is that Bates uses his DT differently than Coyer. If the there primary purpose is to keep the Oline from penetrating and tripping up our undersized LB crew, then yes we need a guy that does not need to get the the QB, but needs to be able to collapse the pocket, and hold the point of attack, so RB's will need to bounce the play outside, where our linebacking core will chase them down.

Anyone know who likely will be around in the 6th or 7th, who is 330 lbs, with good strength, but with zero passing skills? Put a target on him, cause I would be surprised if someone who could do both were still available to us at that point.

The Broncos need to trade one of our 4 round picks in the 2008 draft and get a 5 rounder to draft Marcus Thomas.I think Thomas could fall to 5 round.

Kris Jenkins from Carolina is EXACTLY what we need. He fits that description perfectly.. Problem is Carolina is gonna want our first or second next year for him.

And we still need LB and safety help...Hard to fill DT, LB safety holes with our two picks remaining....Hope we have a UDFA or two sitting in the wings...we're gonna need them.

Oh, man! Do I have to look up your posts from the past week b2b?

Get real, you woullda sceamed bloody murder in here had somebody suggested giving up 3rd rounder to trade up for Moss! You might be glad to hear that this kind of "backwards reasoning" is epidemic around here today. :~ohyah!:
