Jeez the nerve of some people - posting news about the Broncos on a Broncos board - whats wrong with you?

He sounded pretty damn sure of himself. I have been waiting to make Pubes our B!tch for a year! I think he's terrified of Shanahan. Still, he needs more bodies, and we need a couple true impact players.
11 turned out pretty damned good last year.

As a Shanahan deciple, I really question that Kubiac would spill the beans before it was truly official. You know Shanny won't. 10 is a good spot to cherry pick from IMO. Maybe we are still coveting Calvin, but at what cost?
I understand Shanny is probably frothing at the mouth for a Jay/Calvin connection for a decade, but we need two or three true starters out of this draft. I'm realistic to know we won't roll triple 7's with two dice that stop at 6 this year. I just hope we don't roll snake eyes and sell both #1's.

That was based on an exchange on Houston sports radio:
TomKowalski: Just heard ... denver just moved up to no. 10 ... if that's true, the broncos are coming after the no. 2 pick ... i just don't think they've got enough to get it done ...

What? The speculation is the fun part. Kind of like fore play. Ha!
If the Broncos are going to trade up to ten, I'm guessing they'll wait until Texas is on the board and they see somebody they want.

I refuse to be excited this time. I shall get my hopes up of trading to 2 for CJ or JoeThomas or 10 for LAndry... and in the end, we stay at 21 and reach for a no name TE.
Last year for a pleasant surprise because I was sure they would stay at 15 and pick Chad Jackson.

Only two reasons to hide a prior trade, either they don't want to give SF or somebody else an advance warning and time to maneuver above them for a player they want, or else they're not done moving up.
Come on Mike...just do it...get CJ.

Makes me think Anderson is more and more the pick if he's there at #10. Last year there was talk of taking a QB about two weeks out if one happened to be there, after that nothing was mentioned about taking a QB and it came as a "surprise" to everyone when a move was made for one. This year there was talk of Anderson awhile ago, McShay said in a chat sometime at the end of March that Denver loved him and he was their target if the trade to #6 went down, and it was mentioned a couple weeks ago in the Post IIRC he was someone they liked. Now all of a sudden every defensive player who has a slight chance of being around at #10 is being mentioned, except for Anderson. This leaking of Willis' name and a deal with the Texans is to scare San Fran, Buffalo and anyone else who might want Willis to move ahead of Houston's pick to take Wilis, and at the same time take a team who might want Anderson below the Texans.

I could see finalizing the trade to 10 early. At ten they can make a legit play for #2, but if it doesn't work out they can still get Anderson or Willis.

I'm sure if this is true Mike will be pretty ****ed off right now if one of the other teams targetting his player make another move in front of 10 because of this breaking.
BTW I reckon the target is either Anderson or Willis. I just dont think Mike would take a chance on a young DT like Okoye or the sliding Branch in the top 10.

MLive.com's Tom Kowalski reports the Broncos have traded up to No. 10.
The Texans currently own the tenth pick in the draft. It's believed the Broncos are high on Ole Miss MLB Patrick Willis, but Kowalski says the team is trying to make a play for the No. 2 pick and Calvin Johnson. This deal may not be announced as official until draft day.

Lets now assume that we do have the tenth pick. More than likely we will target a defensive prospect. However if Peterson is there at #10 (sliding slightly due to the new colarbone issue) how in the world do you pass on him. The thought of Peterson in the Orange and Blue makes me wet!!! I know, I know ... we have Henry but this is AD!!
Also it is quite possible Anderson, Laundry, Okoye, and Adams will be gone by then. Any takers?!:wiggle:

If its true I believe we are trying to put ourselfs in position to either make a run at the C. Johnson lottery or we are targetting Amobi Okoye.. I don't think we have any intention of going after that LB from Ole Miss.. Just like last year how everyone had us drooling over V. Davis and trying to move up for him while Shanny (and a few of us Plummer haters) were secretly hoping we could get Culter.
Okoye just has way to much upside, the guy is a stud on the field, young, and extremly intelligent. I really think he could end up being the steal of the draft.

Aight this is what I think we are trying to do if it indeed is true that we moved up to #10.
1st. As reported everywhere we will try to get C.J, but that will be extremly hard and costly.
Fallback plan is we will try to get G.Adams and use our #10 as bait to move up if need be. If we do get him we will then trade one of our #3's for Kriss Jenkins (DT) from Carliona.
3rd option is that if G. Adams is gone will will probably take Okoye and keep our other 3rd in our pocket.
I sure hope we get G. Adams and Kriss Jenkins some how.. That will be a hell of a front line. God I hope im right!

Shanahan would wait and see if the guy he wanted was available at whatever pick he was targeting. If you move early another team can jump in front of you. If you trade right when he's in range then you eliminate any chance of someone jumping you. If who he wants doesn't fall, he'll just stay put. That is also a possibility, though admittedly a more disappointing one given the hype we've been hearing.

I feel the target all along was Joe Thomas.
If the Broncos are moving to 10, with the idea of trading to get CJ, at 2 then I would think they have already spoke with the lions about what they would consider. The Lions have stated that they wouldnt take anything less then a 10, well guess what -- that criteria has now been met.
Hasent it been verified that the Broncos have tried to trade up to 2 about a month ago? Now, the Broncos will not make this official for the obvous reason, that the Raiders could trade with the Bucs to picks up some picks, get Brady, and screw the Broncos, not a bad day for them

Only a very gullible person believes the Broncos are just totally in love with Patrick Willis and nobody else at 10. Its an easy conclusion for people outside Denver to make because the loss of Al Wilson leaves a grand canyon sized hole in the center of the defense.
Its quite likely the Broncos are looking at 10 and realizing they're going to see at least one of several targets available. Think about it. CJ and both QBs are going to be gone and so will Peterson and Thomas. That means Willis, Landry, Anderson, Adams or Okoye are going to be there waiting for us. It's asinine to trade up to a spot just because of who you think **might** be there. Why waste the assets to move to #10 ahead of time if you like a group of people, only to watch 3-4 still be on the board when you pick? If you're really not that in love with a single player, there is no reason to move up until there's only one or two of your group left. Looks like Hall and Revis are moving back up and could crack the Top 10, someone might take Brown too. There's another 3 guys that go along with your group, that might be there around 10. No reason to move up unless it's for a single player, and that's done while someone else is on the clock. Not well in advance, or even a day in advance if you're not picking #1 or #2.
I also really don't give a rat's ass what people thought in '04, since I was here saying everyone was reading too much into the move if they thought it was for a specific player. It's not my problem if they fall into your gullible category.

I already spelled out to you that one these five players will be there @ 10: Willis, Landry, Anderson, Adams and Okoye. None of them will be there @ 21. If, and its a big IF, the Broncos really like one of those five studs at glaring need positions, then having the 10th pick is a good place to be.

I take it as the strongest indication yet we're going after Patrick Willis.

Height: 6-2 | Weight: 302 | 40-Time: 4.97
Strengths:
Extremely strong...A solid athlete with good measurables...Stout against the run and is able to take on multiple blockers...Gets a good push and will collapse the pocket...Is able to shed blocks and clog up the middle...Shows great instincts for the game and is still developing...Smart player who is mature beyond his years and wants to improve...Quick and will penetrate and rush the passer...Still has a ton of potential and he could really be physically molded by a pro strength coach.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't always play with proper leverage...Does not have a great burst of closing speed...Has to develop some additional pass rush moves...Is inconsistent and will disappear from the action at times...Needs some technique work and is not yet a finished product...Is he overrated simply due to his being extraordinarily young?
Notes:
Has four years of Division I playing experience but will still only be a 20-year-old rookie in the NFL...A native of Nigeria who tested into the 9th grade as a 12-year-old and played at Louisville as a 16-year-old true freshman in '03...The NFL Draft has never seen a prospect quite like this and even though he is already a very good player now it's his upside that is really intriguing...Impact interior lineman.
And...
Has grown up in the Cardinals' football program... signed with Louisville when he was 15... big, strong athlete who'll bolster the defensive line... has gotten better each season... runs well for his size... run-stopper the Cardinals' need to keep their steady improvement on defense.
Career Notes: Has played in 35 games, including 11 as a starter... burst on the scene in 2003 as the youngest player in the NCAA at 16 years of age.
2005: Registered 23 tackles and four tackles for loss... recorded four tackles against West Virginia... returned to action versus North Carolina and recorded one tackle... didn't play against Florida Atlantic because of a foot sprain... notched three tackles against South Florida... registered two tackles and recovered a fumble versus Kentucky.
2004: Appeared in 11 of 12 games... recorded 26 total tackles and a sack... didn't play versus ECU because of a shoulder injury... made only collegiate start versus Army and responded with a career-high seven tackles... recorded one tackle in the season opener against Kentucky.
2003: The youngest player in college football at 16 years old... one of eight true freshman to earn time... played in all 13 games at defensive tackle... credited with 17 tackles, two tackles for loss and a sack... recorded a career-best four tackles against Tulane... registered three tackles versus Army and Memphis... notched first career sack versus UTEP.
Lee High School: Originally hails from Anambra, Nigeria ... extremely bright ... size, speed and work ethic are pluses ... tested into the ninth grade as a 12-year-old when his family moved to Huntsville from Nigeria ... played three years of prep football ... took up the sport as a sophomore, knowing next to nothing about the game ... started 13 games on the defensive line as a 13-year-old ... played both ways, earning honorable mention all-state honors as a junior ... logged 60 tackles and nine sacks, earning first-team All-State honors on both sides of the ball as a senior.
Personal Profile: Son of Augustine and Edna Okoye... born 6/10/87... Psychology major.

Yep, I made that statement without a trace of irony, too. You're like a ten year old sometimes. I've also said on here about 100 times the mere fact that I really want Patrick Willis makes it virtually impossible we'll draft him. The Broncos have made a pact with Satan to never give me the player I really want in round one, even when I'm right. It sucks, but I persevere.
I can look at the nine million articles speculating about Willis the last couple weeks two ways. I can either enjoy myself and spend the last hours before the draft getting excited about the idea, or I can sit here like some bitter know-it-all and get depressed over them getting my hopes up and dashing them. I would rather have a good time during one of my favorite times of the year, so I'm going to hold out hope we'll select the second best player in the Draft @ 10 and take Patrick Willis.

Calvin Johnson, Patrick Willis, LaRon Landry, Jamaal Anderson or Gaines Adams would satiate me.
My biggest fear about hanging around @ 21 isn't that there won't be excellent players still on the board, because there will be several, I'm just concerned we won't take the right one. We really can't go wrong @ 10.

Only if we're crazy. Travis Henry is just fine. Why alienate the guy by bringing in another RB, like the Bills did to him after he delivered almost 2800 yards and 23 touchdowns in 02/03?

Lemme do the math ...
2 QBs
1 WR
1 RB
1 OT
Okay, that's 5 ... works for me, unless AD drops out because of the injury talk.
Problem with Patrick is - and has been from the start- Ian Gold. Willis at MLB means we have to leave D.J. at Sam, playing just 2 of 3 downs. That's wasting a valuable asset. It would be so great if the Texans took Gold as part of the trade.

I'm done fretting about Ian. The new coaching staff knows the score and his days are numbered. We'll have, at most, one more year of his grab tackling and pointless celebrations.

No. Travis Henry wasn't brought in to be a stopgap or the latest system back. He's a proven performer outside of the Broncos system, so there's no reason to believe he won't be outstanding in it. He's going to be here for a while.

Willis is a safer pick than Anderson.
I suspect that story in the Denver press about how we are after Anderson is just misdirection from the FO.
No kidding, being able to include Gold in a draft day trade would be a godsend.
Gold gets no love around here. I never saw anything that made me think, man get this guy off the field. What does he do/not do that pisses folks off?
He is a small guy with great speed, so if we put two 340 pounders at tackle that might free up some lanes.

What? The speculation is the fun part. Kind of like fore play. Ha!
If the Broncos are going to trade up to ten, I'm guessing they'll wait until Texas is on the board and they see somebody they want.
Indeed, this IS the fun part. My ship has just pulled into Guam and i have duty the first night so i'll be here, 2am, 3am, whatever. But when the Broncos pick their first rounder im done. If we really did trade our 2nd then it's going to be a pretty boring draft for us.

From what we've been able to gather, its this year's number one, plus one of our third rounders, not sure which, 70 or 86. The second rounder is from next year.

We did very well with the Falcons/Jets triple trade but the trade for 11 was just over the value points chart.
