View Full Version : So NO chance of a round 1 Safety?

I've been wanting Michael Griffin since day 1 and still do. There are others that i like at other needed positions, but Griffin is my player of choice. Any way we go S in round 1 and then bolster the Dl w/ the next 3 pix? I know the Dt field isn't that deep, but there are some names there. Soliai, tyler, the other Vol and the criminal from Florida are a few. I think there are plenty of DEs suited for rounds 2 and 3 who could be quite good like bazuin, crowder, robison, abiameri and others.
I just think the top 4 Ss are that much better than the Gattis's, weddle's and rouse's of the world.

naaaaah, i think the drop off is worse with the DT's. IMO weddle is going to be a better cover safety than your boy.

Denver takes Ed Reed instead of Ms. Lilly.
I'm firmly planted in the Griffin bandwagon but I don't know if we have that luxury.

I think Landry is a possibility if we find ourselves at #10, Okoye and Willis are off the board, and we can't trade down.

I don't think there is any doubt the Broncos are thin at safety and they could pick one on the first day, but they have enough depth that they can skate by for another year before panic sets in.

I would mind the Broncos trading down with Chicago for the 31 and 37 picks and drafting Griffen and Spencer or Johnson..

Give me Meriweather or Griffin I'd be happy.

Yup, if logic applied we would have to go after DT or DE in the first round. A day-one safety, however, would not surprise me.

logic? LOL
logic? LOL
I can never guess what the Broncos are going to do -- not by player, or postion in the draft. I could see them go after an offensive tackle. Not a sexy pick, but we have several needs this year, including LB, DE, DT, and S --what would surprise me the most is neatly meeting each need by position. The approach taken always surprises me (actually it usually pisses me off while in the moment.) Last year was a great draft, but few thought that a QB was in the cards. The year before that we took three CB's? In hindsight, that was a smart move too, but a surprise to most here.

We need to get Landry, Griffin or Merriweather. Pick one. I want some new blood at safety...

I wouldn't be upset at all with Griffen.

I really think IF we sit at #21 and take a Dlineman that we will move up in the second for one of the top safetys that falls to within our reach. A real possibility.

I figure Shanny may be interested in moving up as well. If so, the question may be:
Nelson/Griffin and Crowder
or
Moss/Spencer and Meriweather/Weddle

Depending on what happened with the rest of the draft I'd be ok with a combo of either Moss/Spencer and Weddle.
Not excited but ok.

I actually like the first one more. Gimme the 2 longhorns...and then the 2 hawaiin's later on...Alama-francis and Soliai.

With all the head-fakes going on about P-Willis (trade with Hou) and CJ (trade with Det) I think its more in play now than ever.
We'll probably trade up to take a guy with a second round grade.

I'd consider Landry, otherwise I want to see what Abdullah, Brandon and Cox have to offer this year. I certainly don't want a safety lower that Weddle.
I'll consider safety again next year if the aforementioned trio regress.
