KUSA - 9Wants to Know has learned multiple law enforcement agencies will soon announce federal indictments against several gang members linked to the Darrent Williams' murder case.

Local, state and national law enforcement agencies have been invovled in the indictments.

9Wants to Know has also learned federal agents arrested some of the Denver gang members Thursday morning.

Sources tell 9Wants to Know the U.S. Attorney's Office and other law enforcement agencies will announce six sealed federal indictments against several gang members of the 'Rolling 30's' street gang, known on the streets as the 'Tre Tre's.' The gang is linked to the 'Crips' gang which started in Los Angeles, California.

The indictments involve federal drugs and weapons charges. Sources also tell 9NEWS large amounts of cash were seized during the investigation. 9Wants to Know has also learned the indictments were handed up from a federal grand jury.

A 4:30 p.m. press conference to announce the indictments was announced in a press release sent out by the U.S. Attorney's office at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.

The press release says the law enforcement agencies will announce the results of an "18 month investigation into a major Metro Denver street gang."

9Wants to Know has also learned this federal investigation was well underway when Williams, the Denver Bronco's cornerback, was murdered on New Years Day. A state grand jury is still investigating murder charges in the Williams homicide.

The agencies involved include the Metro Gang Task Force, the U.S. Attorney's office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, The Drug Enforcement Agency, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and the Denver and Aurora Police Departments.

Maybe one will squeal in a plea bargain. I broke into tears when I found it it wasn't a murder indictment. Something about this case really stings me.

At least it's something. If mock was doing the interrogation Abu Garab would be Club Med in comparison.

Justice? Don't hold your breath. One (or more) of them may go to jail, but our legal system is abhorrently short on justice.

I'm surprised any headway at all is being made in this case what with the whole "stop snitching" thing in full bloom....

It was less than a week after the shooting that Rev called out the Tre gang as possibly being involved. Heck he even said it in the Denver post. Not sure why it took this long.

Hopefully they nail these guys to the wall.

Did you see that special on "snitching" last week (Anderson Cooper)? That was crazy to see those little kids who were already indoctrinated into the "don't be a snitch" mentality.

I hope they can break one of those guys down and pit them against each other. Throw a plea bargain in front of one of their faces and see what comes out... I hope to God that they catch the killers and put them to justice.

49 Tre Tre Crip members arrested today by DPD sting. Basically I think they arrested all the members and are going to run down the line and offer them immunity and witness protection to snitch. I like the odds on one of those 49 taking a deal when they all are facing big time because they found 1.5mil in drug money and enough pot to warrant distribution charges.

I think I saw one of the arrests this afternoon. I was picking up my Nephew around 27th and Colorado which is near Park Hill and there was a slew of cops and detective cars. Didn't know what was going on until I heard the news.

All those gangbangers say they live by that code, but some don't stick by it as much as others. Somebody will try to save their own ass and snitch. I can't see all of them sticking to that code.

We need Pacman* to get to the youngest one and have Duvall stand watch. Out of 49, I hope a few crack. Just tell the 14 year old that he will be tried as an adult and get to be someone's beatch. He will chirp like a bird.
* rent COLORS if you think this is Pacman Jones

The "stop snitchin'" thing was all over the news last week on pretty much all the major outlets....IMHO, it should've been brought forward long before that. As a marketing strategy, it's about the lowest of the low, see for yourselves http://www.stopsnitching.com/

Because this was the culmination of an 18 month investigation. They said they couldn't jeopardize the criminal investigation to turn it into a gang related shooting. This took far more off the streets than just Darrent's murderer. It was well orchestrated, well done, and hopefully solid indictments.

True, once the thought of their asses stinging in prision fully set in, I suppose they'll reconsider a plea bargain.

Lawyer: New suspect in Williams case
Investigators say man may be connnected to murder
Posted: Thursday May 3, 2007 2:08PM; Updated: Thursday May 3, 2007 2:08PM

DENVER (AP) -- Investigators believe a man arrested on drug charges in a gang crackdown last week may have been present when Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed, the suspect's attorney said.

Investigators believe Vernon Edwards, 29, of suburban Aurora may have been in a sport-utility vehicle carrying the gunman or gunmen who shot Williams, Edwards' attorney, Anthony Viorst, told The Denver Post in Thursday's editions.

Viorst said Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Podolak told him investigators believe Edwards is connected to the Williams case. Podolak and a spokeswoman for the Denver district attorney declined to comment.

Edwards' sister, Queen McClain, and his girlfriend, Billie Lambson, told The Post that Edwards was in bed with the flu at the time Williams was shot. Lambson said she was with Edwards that day.

McClain and Lambson said police told them a witness has placed Edwards in the suspect SUV when Williams was shot.

"They told us that if he wasn't in the SUV then he knows who was," Lambson said.

Williams, 24, was struck once in the neck and two other passengers were wounded when at least 14 shots were fired into the stretch Hummer that had just left a New Year's Eve party at a nightclub.

Edwards was arrested on cocaine trafficking charges in massive gang sweep on April 26. He pleaded not guilty Wednesday.

More than 450 officers from three states arrested 49 people on suspicion of money-laundering and distributing drugs and firearms. Officers seized 74 firearms, $1.4 million in cash, cocaine, marijuana and ecstasy and three vehicles, authorities said.

One those indicted in that investigation was Brian Hicks, 28, the registered owner of the SUV that authorities believe was used in Williams' slaying.

Hicks was in jail awaiting trial on attempted murder charges when Williams was killed.

Please explain to me how putting some wanna be gangsters in crime college is penalizing them?

I hope bringing the bad guys to justice means all of these criminals are marked men. Denver is small. You don't get many strikes.

Denver police department isn't on high moral ground many times. I hope that they stoop to the lowest of their standards in private with these guys and leave no bruises.

Did I hear BINGO?

Nothing will bring DWILL back, but maybe some good will come from this. Sounds like the cops took a bite out of crime, at least temporarily. They should take that 1.5 million and put it to increased gang suppresion efforts. Sell the pot to California for medicinal purposes. heh.

I'm afraid the Denver I will see again won't be the one I left. *sigh*.
