Last night I was watching the road to the draft on NFL network. They ran a story on the top ten picks from the 06 Draft. I was shocked who they included and excluded…

10. Lienart
9. Laurence Maroney
8. SD’s guard
7. A.J. Hawk
6. Bush
5. Jones-Drew
4. Devin Hester
3. DeMeco Ryans
2. Addie
1. Vince Young:thumbs:

Where in the Hell is Marquez Colstein or Jay Cutler :cuss:

top 10 FIRST DAY picks, and we already know, the media doesnt slobber over the broncos like they do other teams

Bush was actually 5, for whatever such a list is worth. They made a big deal that it was his college jersey number. And I'm pretty sure they had Marques Colston on that list ... ??

And based on 2006, Cutler's not there .... yet.

BTW - That Darren Horton is no good. His football knowledge is only nominal, and I never liked him as a news reporter/anchor at KCAL 9 in Los Angeles either...

Man you people are incredible.

Cutler played one GOOD game last year, had 2 OK games and 2 eh games.

Take your homer glasses off and look at him from an outsiders point of view. He, fair or not, could not take the Broncos to the playoffs when given teh chance and a golden opportunity. THATS HOW IT IS. We all know the defense folded. Everyone here knows that. But the media sees the Denver defense as really good, and Cutler went 2-3.

Jesus Christ, Cutler DIDNT perform like a top 10 first day pick from last year. He didnt have the chances that those other guys had either.

Alec is right (gad!) .... there should be some measure of objectivity around here .... Cutler does not make the Top 10 ... or even the Top 20.

Somehow I'm looking at this list and If Lienart is there then Cutler is there. He does have "scoreboard" after all...

That's the only debatable one. I think Nick Mangold should have made the list...he started every game for the Jets I believe. Greg Jennings and Jerious Norwood were pretty impressive as well.

Matt had more opportunity to impress and in the MNF game against Chicago, showed calm and poise against one of the toughest defenses in the game Not his fault they lost that game and by all accounts they were in that game because of Matt's playing ability.

And thats how you have to look at it. National exposure, he played well on the big stage.

Not bashing Cutler but he hasn't done anything to warrant being one of the top 10 picks from last year. The guy has only played a handful of games and at points he looked brilliant and at other times he looked bad.

Can we give this guy some time before we annoint him the next Elway? Hopefully he turns out great but he has only played in 5 games so far.

Maroney and Addai's performances last year are so utterly overrated. Not bad seasons by any stretch, but they weren't spectular either to somehow put them into Top 10 guys picked after one year.

745 and 6 TDs for Maroney and 1081 and 7 for Addai, that's nothing compared to some past rookie performances.

Cutler only played 5 games. Give him some time. The accolades will come.

That list was for the top 10 first day picks only, which is why players like Colston weren't included.

And the SD's Guard was OT Marcus McNeill :)

No, he makes the top twenty. I bet you couldn't make a list of twenty without including Cutler. Cutler set an NFL record for production by a rookie in his first starts. In almost of century or NFL play, no rookie QB played better in first five starts. This is without practicing with starters all year. He's not a top ten, but had he continued his pace, I'm positive that Cutler would have been able to keep pace with Young last year. His first five games are better than Young's first five games.

Nope. How did they forget Colston?!

Oh man ... that is absolutely correct. Mangold even made the Pro Bowl - as a rook! So, how the heck did Eslinger beat him out two years running for:
All Big-Ten and...
All-America and...
The Rimington Trophy and...
The Outland Trophy?

Eslinger won both the Rimington and Outland Trphies, was 1st team all Big-Ten and All-America twice. So how can Mangold be so dominant as a rookie compared to Eslinger?

I'm sure it's judged on last year's performance, rather than overall pick quality. If it were'nt, Hester would never make it.
