Johnson would be sweet. Ginn at 21 would be sweet too.

I like all those guys except for Staley I'm a little uncomfortable with and Ginn...well you all know what I think of a raw, skinny receiver in round one. :TJnPopps:

I would be ok with all those guys except I don't want Denver to take a LB or S in the first round.

I agree with Willis and Landry as the exceptions, and if the other guys we wanted weren't available, I'd take Griffin at 21.

A lot of people are down on Moss but if Anderson, or Carricker aren't there I think Moss could work. HE is a little light but it's hard to argue with his production.

He seems Jason-Taylorish and he played well on special teams. I like guys that play well on special teams because it shows that they're really just good football players. However I happen to think he's most likely to be the Chad Jackson of this year - where everyone has him going to us higher than he is worth and then on draft day he falls, and to someone not us, and is out of football in three years.

Not one defensive tackle prospect listed apart from some kid who could be a UDFA. Unless Klis thinks a Jenkins trade is imminent he's missing quite a few prospects on that list at our biggest need position.

Man I love that headline, 10 guys that Denver wants, but then if you look at the article, it's all speculation by Klis again.
I wouldn't expect much more from Schefter at this time of year because of how tight Dove Valley is, but he could at least give a general idea of who they are targeting. All Klis can do is repeat that they still like Calvin Johnson, which is pretty much all he's said for the past 2 months when he's done a radio interview in town. Good thing he's got Williamson at the Post to take some heat of his ****ty reporting job too.

Just about everyone on that list will be picked in the 1st or in the early 2nd except for a couple. I would like it if these reporters go out on a limb and say something instead of just stating the obvious or limiting to just the first round pretty much.

Another thing I noticed last year. If you watch some of Devin hester's returns for the Bears last year there were a lot of LB / DE sized guys blocking downfield on ST. When they got moving as a pack, they leveled people and sealed off the sideline so Hester could just turn on the speed. We need some of these LB / De guys to make out ST "special."
Also, I think Moss would help us. He's not the total package yet, but I would like to see him (and his speed) tearing after Peyton Manning. I don't care if he gives up some run yards, we need someone who can get after the passer (besides Elvis). Anderson is my first choice, Moss is second. (Unless Branch is available).

Thinking the CJ pick is too far out of reach , where we would have to mortgage too much. My first choice would be Anderson, then Carriker. If that doesnt work by moving up, then I would like Griffin at 21 if he's there.

Not that the Broncos don't really like CJ, but it seems to me that there is some gamesmanship going on on the Broncos behalf. I really think that Shanny and Co. are stating their interest in CJ rather loudly in hopes of messing with the raiders and making them think twice about what they are going to do. You know Al Davis is listening and would draft CJ if he thought that Shanny was moving up to #2 to take CJ.

How bitter are you about not being a sports journalist?

I don't know why people would be nervous with Ginn. Did you watch any OSU games this year or last? The guy is a flat out playmaker..consistantly the fastest dude on the field. Makes big plays and could help us in a number of areas. I would support that pick for sure.
The only pick that doesnt excite me is David Harris. I hate drafting by need and its just a very unsexy pick.

If you haven't already, watch the interview with Scott O'Brien on the Broncos main page. It's 15 minutes long but he's really a good interview and very down to earth. He talks about that very thing you're mentioning. Apparently he's big on putting the right body types in his schemes and he's been scouting body types this whole time. Kind of references what you're talking about. Shanahan isn't a special teams coach and never has been so his philosophy has always been "if you play special teams you get more playing time" which is ok but it meant that anyone could play special teams whether they were good at their assignment or not. I think you'll see O'Brien be better about putting the right pieces in place to make something happen.
Ginn or Harrell at 21. If those two are gone or we can get Harrell later, I say trade back and pick up either Griffin or Harrell.
Round 2 I have Quincy Black as my first pick. The guy is going to be good. I like him better than David Harris though both are completely different players with different skill sets.
Round 3a I really think Quinton Moses could be a steal for us here especially with Bates working him in.
Round 3b, Brandon Mebane makes a lot of sense here if we can land him. He will be a good 1 technique in our defense.
Since I think Ginn will be gone... here is my mock draft wish list:
1. Michael Griffin - S - Texas
2. Quincy Black - LB - New Mexico
3a.Quinton Moses - DE - UGA
3b.Brandon Mebane - DT - CAL
6a.Laurent Robinson - WR - Illinois State
6b.Eddie Keele - OT - BYU
7. Quinton Echols - DT - KSU

If I wanted to be a journalist, I would have gone to J-school. Guess I'll just have to be content with my J.D.

david harris is a stud...he doesnt miss a tackle and is quick sideline to sideline...he works hard is a smart leader...i think we'd be very lucky to have the opportunity to draft him in the second.

Draft Mason Crosby NOW!
Ginn @ 21 would be a major reach the way I see it. You want somebody to return balls like Hestor? So does everybody else. Those guys don't come along very often and to think Ginn is going to = that production is a major reach. This team could use that 21st pick with a player that has a much higher chance at turning out to be a bigger impact. It's not even like we need a Hestor type of return man. All we need is somebody decent enough to get us past the frickin 20 yard line for once. It would be nice to start a few drives on the 35 once in awhile.
If who ever we like is not still on the board @ 21 and we haven't traded up, I say go down those few spots, pick up a 3rd and get Griffin. He will be there @ 25.

I can see that.
I still say if nobody drops that should not then you move down pick up a 3rd and get Harris your future Def QB for the next 10 year.
Hes a high moter guy......hes smart.....simply does not miss tackles.

Sounds alot like the can't miss 2nd round LB we got from Kansas State a few years back. How'd that work out? Our Def QB for the next 10 years? You talk like you know it's a given. Cmon', at least wish he might be that guy but don't talk all this smack like he's somebody who is a proven NFL player when you have no idea in hell how he will pan out.

??? No one thought Pierce was a can't miss QB of the Defense for the next ten years. He was a panic pick because the Broncos did not expect Wilson to resign and they had no other options. The coaches admitted that on draft day.

Exactly
Also he got stuck behind one of the best LB cores in the NFL. I do think hes starting for the Giants now......no???

Echols and Wolfe are the two names on that list that surprised me. Anyone could have put together the top-10, but adding two low-profile players in the "other" section leads me to believe he's heard something on both of them. I wouldn't mind using a couple of our late rounders on them.

I wouldnt mind Griffin if the D-Line help is gone. He is a good S and return man seems like a decent fit.

I'll speculate that Den does not trade up because the cost is too much. Carriker or one of the other top DE's will be available at 21, one of the top WR's, one of the top OT's, one of the top LB's, one of the top safeties.
You don't see teams trading up in consecutive years too much, too risky. Having said that, I wouldn't have a problem with the team trading up to get one of the top OT's. Trading up to get a WR is a waste, and trading up to get a DE is a waste when keeping the statue Cutler healthy is a priority.

Warrick was never that fast, though. He was more of a 4.5 guy who got by on quickness and was never able to get seperation at the pro level. Ginn's a 4.2 guy who plays fast, there's really no comparison.
