I love that the UFC has provided this free on Spike TV. I'm more of an old school UFC fan but I still love watching. Boxing needs to take a page from UFC and show a marquee match up free every now and again.

Yeah, I'm watching it. It was finished in England about 5 hours ago and I couldn't help but look at the spoilers though.
I heard the reason UFC is showing this free is because they missed the deadline to get the PPV card in, so I'm not sure if it's totally altruistic.

Regardless. It's nice to not have to shell out $30 a pop evertime it comes up. Last fight was a good one.

Boxing should create some bull**** trash sport contested by bouncers and doormen and then they could get some white guys in their "championship fights", too.

Gonzaga is a machine. Title fight vs Couture should be a walk in my opinion. Fador vs Gonzaga would be huge.

UFC might be crappy right now, but it's structured better than anything boxing has to offer and since boxing doesn't look to be getting their act together, and UFC getting more and more TV contracts, the money going that way will lure more people to it - spectators and fighters both.

UFC might be crappy right now, but it's structured better than anything boxing has to offer and since boxing doesn't look to be getting their act together, and UFC getting more and more TV contracts, the money going that way will lure more people to it - spectators and fighters both.
Its popular because white guys fight for their "championships". No other reason.
I guess maybe a certain segment of the population get some kind of cheap thrill out of seeing someone getting kicked while they're down. You can call that a sport if you like.

Contested in Denver, because they had no state athletic commission in CO.
I remember some baldheaded German kicked a tooth right out of some Sumo's mouth.
They also had a boxer and the dumbass came into the ring wearing one glove like a cross between Michael Jackson and Mike Tyson. Goddamn, that was stupid.

Craziest fight I ever saw was between Lonnie Smith (not the incredibly clumsy outfielder) and Bill Costello (a body beautiful guy who couldn't fight a lick). A couple welterweights during the mid 80s.
Smith clowned him the whole fight. Spent most of his time not even looking directly at Costello. It was the damndest thing I ever saw. Me and my buddies were sure Smith was on drugs during that fight.

I believe that might have been James "Hard Rock" Green against Frank "The Animal" Fletcher. Green was a tiny (5'4") middleweight and Fletcher's nickname was apt. Green got cut and froze up at the sight of his own blood and Mama Green lost it big time.

The UFC fighters are better athletes and FAR MORE wellrounded in their fighting skills than are boxers. You put a boxer in the ring with a UFC fighter and those fights won't last but a few minutes. The boxer will get taken to the ground and submitted or pounded. Simple as that. Spare me the "the only reason UFC is popular is b/c it has white guys fighting for the championships". Have you loked at the heavyweight division in boxing, Slap? It is gaining in popularity because boxing has been so corrupt for so long and people have grown tired of it in general. Slap--you are racist.
